Chronicles II 24
1 Joas was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Sabia of Bersabee.
Joas war sieben Jahre alt, als er König ward, und regierte vierzig Jahre lang zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Zibja, von Beerseba.
2 And Joas did that which right in the sight of the Lord all the days of Jodae the priest.
Und Joas tat, was recht war in den Augen des HERRN, solange der Priester Jojada lebte.
3 And Jodae took to himself two wives, and they bore sons and daughters.
Und Jojada gab ihm zwei Frauen, und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
4 And it came to pass afterward that it came into the heart of Joas to repair the house of the Lord.
Darnach nahm sich Joas vor, das Haus des HERRN zu erneuern.
5 And he gathered the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out into the cities of Juda, and collect money of all Israel to repair the house of the Lord from year to year, and make haste to speak [of it]. But the Levites hasted not.
Und er versammelte die Priester und Leviten und sprach zu ihnen: Ziehet aus zu den Städten Judas und sammelt Geld aus ganz Israel, um das Haus eures Gottes jährlich auszubessern, und beeilet euch damit! Aber die Leviten beeilten sich nicht.
6 And king Joas called Jodae the chief, and said to him, Why have you not looked after the Levites, so that they should bring from Juda and Jerusalem that which was prescribed by Moses the man of God, when he assembled Israel at the tabernacle of witness?
Da rief der König den Jojada, den Oberpriester, und sprach zu ihm: Warum verlangst du nicht von den Leviten, daß sie von Juda und Jerusalem die Steuer einbringen, welche Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, auferlegte und welche die Gemeinde Israel zur Hütte des Zeugnisses brachte?
7 For Gotholia was a transgressor, and her sons tore down the house of God; for they offered the holy things of the house of the Lord to Baalim.
Denn die gottlose Atalia und ihre Söhne haben das Haus des HERRN aufgebrochen und alle Heiligtümer, welche zum Hause des HERRN gehören, den Baalen zugeeignet.
8 And the king said, Let a box be made, and let it be put at the gate of the house of the Lord without.
Da befahl der König, daß man eine Lade mache und sie außerhalb des Tores am Hause des HERRN aufstelle.
9 And let [men] proclaim in Juda an in Jerusalem, that [the people] should bring to the Lord, as Moses the servant of God spoke concerning Israel in the wilderness.
Und man ließ in Juda und Jerusalem ausrufen, daß man dem HERRN die Steuer bringe, welche Mose, der Knecht Gottes, in der Wüste Israel auferlegt hatte.
10 And all the princes and all the people gave, and brought in, and cast into the box until it was filled.
Da freuten sich alle Obersten und das ganze Volk und brachten sie und warfen sie in die Lade, bis sie es alle getan hatten.
11 And it came to pass, when they brought in the box to the officers of the king by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that the money was more than sufficient, then came the king's scribe, and the officer of the high priest, and emptied the box, and restored it to its place. Thus they did day by day, and collected much money.
Und wenn es Zeit war, die Lade durch die Leviten zu der königlichen Behörde zu bringen, und wenn man sah, daß viel Geld darin war, so kamen der Schreiber des Königs und der Verordnete des Oberpriesters und leerten die Lade und trugen sie wieder an ihren Ort. Also taten sie von Zeit zu Zeit, so daß sie viel Geld zusammenbrachten.
12 And the king and Jodae the priest gave it to the workmen employed in the service of the house of the Lord, and they hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the Lord, also smiths and braziers to repair the house of the Lord.
Und der König und Jojada gaben es denen, welche das Werk des Dienstes am Hause des HERRN betrieben; die dingten Steinmetzen und Zimmerleute, das Haus des HERRN zu erneuern, auch Meister in Eisen und Erz, das Haus des HERRN auszubessern.
13 And the workmen wrought, and the works prospered in their hands, and they established the house of the Lord on its foundation, and strengthened [it].
Und die Handwerker arbeiteten, so daß die Verbesserung des Werkes unter ihrer Hand zunahm, und sie stellten das Haus Gottes wieder in seinen rechten Stand und machten es fest.
14 And when they had finished [it], they brought to the king and to Jodae the remainder of the money, and they made vessels for the house of the Lord, vessels of service for whole burnt offerings, and gold and silver [censers]: and they offered up whole burnt offerings in the house of the Lord continually all the days of Jodae.
Und als sie es vollendet hatten, brachten sie das übrige Geld vor den König und vor Jojada; davon machte man Geräte für das Haus des HERRN, Geräte für den Dienst und für die Opfer, Schalen und goldene und silberne Geräte. Und sie opferten Brandopfer im Hause des HERRN immerdar, solange Jojada lebte.
15 And Jodae grew old, being full of days, and he died, being a hundred and thirty years old at his death.
Jojada aber ward alt und lebenssatt und starb; er war bei seinem Tod hundertdreißig Jahre alt.
16 And they buried him with the kings in the city of David, because he had dealt well with Israel, and with God and his house.
Und sie begruben ihn in der Stadt Davids, bei den Königen, weil er an Israel wohlgetan hatte, auch an Gott und an seinem Hause.
17 And it came to pass after the death of Jodae, [that] the princes of Juda went in, and did obeisance to the king. Then the king listened to them.
Aber nach Jojadas Tod kamen die Obersten in Juda und huldigten dem König; da hörte der König auf sie.
18 And they forsook the house of the Lord God of their fathers, and served the Astartes and idols: and there was wrath upon Juda and Jerusalem in that day.
Und sie verließen das Haus des HERRN, des Gottes ihrer Väter, und dienten den Ascheren und Götzenbildern. Da kam der Zorn Gottes über Juda und Jerusalem um dieser ihrer Schuld willen.
19 yet he sent prophets to them, to turn them to the Lord; but they listened not: and he testified to them, but they obeyed not.
Er sandte aber Propheten zu ihnen, um sie zum HERRN zurückzubringen; und diese vermahnten sie ernstlich, aber sie hörten nicht darauf.
20 And the Spirit of God came upon Azarias the son of Jodae the priest, and he stood up above the people, and said, Thus says the Lord, Why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord? so shall you not prosper; for you have forsaken the Lord, and he will forsake you.
Da kam der Geist Gottes über Sacharja, den Sohn Jojadas, des Priesters, so daß er wider das Volk auftrat und zu ihnen sprach: So spricht Gott: Warum übertretet ihr die Gebote des HERRN? Das bringt euch kein Glück, denn weil ihr den HERRN verlassen habt, wird er euch auch verlassen!
21 And they conspired against him, and stone him by command of king Joas in the court of the Lord's house.
Aber sie machten eine Verschwörung wider ihn und steinigten ihn auf Befehl des Königs im Vorhofe am Hause des HERRN.
22 So Joas remembered not the kindness which his father Jodae had exercised towards him, but killed his son. And as he died, he said, The Lord look upon [it], and judge.
Und der König Joas gedachte nicht an die Liebe, die sein Vater Jojada ihm erwiesen, sondern brachte dessen Sohn um. Als der aber starb, sprach er: Der HERR wird es sehen und richten!
23 And it came to pass after the end of the year, [that] the host of Syria went up against him, and came against Juda and Jerusalem: and they killed all the chiefs of the people among the people, and all their spoils they sent to the king of Damascus.
Und um die Jahreswende zog das Heer der Syrer wider ihn herauf, und sie kamen nach Juda und Jerusalem und vertilgten alle Obersten des Volkes aus dem Volk und sandten alle ihre Habe zu dem König von Damaskus.
24 For the army of Syria came with few men, yet God gave into their hands a very large army, because they had forsaken the God of their fathers; and he brought judgments on Joas.
Denn obwohl das Heer der Syrer nur aus wenig Leuten bestand, gab doch der HERR ein sehr großes Heer in ihre Hand, weil jene den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter, verlassen hatten. Also vollzogen sie das Strafgericht an Joas.
25 And after they had departed from him, when they had left him in sore diseases, then his servants conspired against him because of the blood of the son of Jodae the priest, and killed him on his bed, and he died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the sepulchre of the kings.
Und als sie von ihm abzogen, wobei sie ihn schwer verwundet zurückließen, machten seine Knechte eine Verschwörung wider ihn, wegen der Blutschuld an den Söhnen des Priesters Jojada, und töteten ihn auf seinem Bette; und er starb, und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids, aber nicht in den Gräbern der Könige.
26 And they that conspired against him were Zabed the son of Samaath the Ammanite, and Jozabed the son of Samareth the Moabite.
Die sich aber gegen ihn verschworen hatten, waren diese: Sabad, der Sohn der Ammoniterin Simeat, und Josabad, der Sohn der Moabiterin Simrit.
27 And all his sons, and the five came to him: and the other [matters], behold, they are written in the book of the kings. And Amasias his son reigned in his stead.
Aber seine Söhne und die Summe, die ihm auferlegt wurde, und die Wiederherstellung des Hauses Gottes, siehe, das ist beschrieben in der Erklärung des Buches der Könige. Und Amazia, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
