Chronicles II 16
1 And in the thirty-eighth year of the reign of Asa, the king of Israel went up against Juda, and built Rama, so as not to allow egress or ingress to Asa king of Juda.
No trigésimo sexto ano do reinado de Asa, Baasa, rei de Israel, subiu contra Judá, e construiu Ramá, para não permitir que ninguém saísse ou entrasse para Asa, rei de Judá.
2 And Asa took silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the king's house, and sent [them] to the son of Ader king of Syria, which lived in Damascus, saying,
Então Asa trouxe prata e ouro dos tesouros da casa de Javé e da casa do rei, e enviou a Ben Hadad, rei da Síria, que vivia em Damasco, dizendo:
3 Make a covenant between me and you, and between my father and your father: behold, I have sent you gold and silver: come, and turn away from me Baasa king of Israel, and let him depart from me.
“Que haja um tratado entre mim e você, como houve entre meu pai e seu pai”. Eis que eu vos enviei prata e ouro”. Vai, quebra teu tratado com Baasa, rei de Israel, para que ele se afaste de mim”.
4 And the son of Ader listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his host against the cities of Israel; and struck Aeon, and Dan, and Abelmain, and all the country round Nephthali.
Ben Hadad ouviu o rei Asa e enviou os capitães de seus exércitos contra as cidades de Israel; e eles atingiram Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim e todas as cidades de armazenamento de Naftali.
5 And it came to pass when Baasa heard [it] he left off building Rama, and put a stop to his work:
Quando Baasha ouviu falar disso, ele parou de construir Ramah, e deixou seu trabalho cessar.
6 then king Asa took all Juda, and took the stones of Rama, and its timber, [with] which Baasa [had] built; and he built with them Gabae and Maspha.
Então Asa, o rei, tomou todo o Judá, e eles levaram as pedras e a madeira de Ramá, com as quais Baasa construiu; e ele construiu Geba e Mizpá com eles.
7 And at that time came Anani the prophet to Asa king of Juda, and said to him, Because you did trust on the king of Syria, and did not trust on the Lord your God, therefore the army of Syria is escaped out of your hand.
Naquele tempo Hanani, o vidente, veio a Asa, rei de Judá, e disse-lhe: “Porque confiaste no rei da Síria, e não confiaste em Iavé, teu Deus, portanto o exército do rei da Síria escapou de tuas mãos.
8 Were not the Ethiopians and Libyans a great force, in courage, in horsemen, in great numbers? and did not He deliver them into your hands, because you trusted in the Lord?
Weren'Os etíopes e os líbios não são um exército enorme, com carruagens e um número excessivo de cavaleiros? No entanto, porque você confiou em Javé, ele os entregou em suas mãos.
9 For the eyes of the Lord look upon all the earth, to strengthen every heart that is perfect toward him. In this you have done foolishly; henceforth there shall be war with you.
Pois os olhos de Javé correm para frente e para trás em toda a terra, para mostrar-se forte em favor daqueles cujo coração é perfeito para ele. Você fez tolices nisto; pois de agora em diante você terá guerras”.
10 And Asa was angry with the prophet, and put him in prison, for he was angry at this: and Asa vexed some of the people at that time.
Então Asa ficou zangado com o vidente e o colocou na prisão; pois ele estava com raiva dele por causa disso. Asa oprimiu algumas das pessoas ao mesmo tempo.
11 And, behold, the acts of Asa, the first and the last, [are] written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.
Eis que os atos de Asa, primeiro e último, eis que estão escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e Israel.
12 And Asa was diseased [in] his feet in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, until he was very ill: but in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians.
No trigésimo nono ano de seu reinado, Asa estava doente em seus pés. Sua doença era extremamente grande; no entanto, em sua doença ele não procurou Yahweh, mas apenas os médicos.
13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the forties year of his reign.
Asa dormiu com seus pais, e morreu no quadragésimo primeiro ano de seu reinado.
14 And they buried him in the sepulchre which he had dug for himself in the city of David, and they laid him on a bed, and filled [it] with spices and [all] kinds of perfumes of the apothecaries; and they made for him a very great funeral.
Eles o enterraram em seu próprio túmulo, que ele havia cavado para si mesmo na cidade de David, e o colocaram na cama que estava cheia de odores doces e vários tipos de temperos preparados pela arte dos perfumistas; e fizeram um fogo muito grande para ele.
