< Kings I 27 >
1 And David said in his heart, Now shall I be one day delivered [for death] into the hands of Saul; and there is no good thing for me unless I should escape into the land of the Philistines, and Saul should cease from seeking me through every coast of Israel: so I shall escape out of his hand.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita ʻi hono loto, “Ko eni, ʻe ai ha ʻaho te u ʻauha ai nai ʻi he nima ʻo Saula: ʻoku ʻikai ha meʻa lelei hake kiate au, ka ko ʻeku hola ʻo hao ki he fonua ʻoe kau Filisitia; pea ʻe ʻosi ai ʻae mamahi ʻa Saula kiate au, ʻi he toe kumi kiate au ʻi he ngaahi potu fonua ʻo ʻIsileli: ko ia te u hao ai mei hono nima.”
2 So David arose, and the six hundred men that were with him, and he went to Anchus, son Ammach, king of Geth.
Pea naʻe tuʻu ʻa Tevita, pea hoko atu ia mo e kau tangata ʻe toko onongeau naʻe ʻiate ia kia ʻAkisi, ko e foha ʻo Maoki ko e tuʻi ʻo Kati.
3 And David lived with Anchus, he and his men, each with his family; and David and both his wives, Achinaam, the Jezraelitess, and Abigaia the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
Pea naʻe nofo ʻa Tevita mo ʻAkisi ʻi Kati, ʻaia mo hono kau tangata, ʻae tangata taki taha mo hono fale, ʻa Tevita mo hono ongo uaifi ʻe toko ua, ko ʻAhinoami ko e fefine Sesilili, mo ʻApikale ko e fefine Kameli, ʻaia naʻe mali mo Napale.
4 And it was told Saul that David had fled to Geth; and he no longer sought after him.
Pea naʻe tala kia Saula kuo hola ʻa Tevita ki Kati: pea naʻe ʻikai te ne toe kumi ia.
5 And David said to Anchus, If now your servant has found grace in your eyes, let them give me, I pray you, a place in one of the cities in the country, and I will dwell there: for why does your servant dwell with you in a royal city?
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Tevita kia ʻAkisi, “Ko eni, kapau kuo u ʻilo ʻae ʻofa ʻi ho ʻao, tuku kenau foaki mai kiate au ha potu fonua ʻi ha kolo, pe ʻi ʻuta, koeʻuhi ke u nofo ki ai: he koeʻumaʻā ʻae nofo ʻa hoʻo tamaioʻeiki mo koe ʻi he kolo ʻae tuʻi?”
6 And he gave him Sekelac in that day: therefore Sekelac came into possession of the king of Judea to this day.
Pea naʻe foaki kiate ia ʻe ʻAkisi ʻa Sikilaki ʻi he ʻaho ko ia: ko ia naʻe toka ai ʻa Sikilaki ki he ngaahi tuʻi ʻo Siuta ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni.
7 And the number of the days that David lived in the country of the Philistines was four months.
Pea ko hono lahi ʻoe ʻaho naʻe nofo ai ʻa Tevita ʻi he fonua ʻoe kakai Filisitia, ko e taʻu ʻe taha mo e māhina ʻe fā.
8 And David and his men went up, and made an attack on all the Gesirites and on the Amalekites: and behold, the land was inhabited, (even the land from Gelampsur) by those who come from the fortified [cities] even to the land of Egypt.
Pea naʻe ʻalu hake ʻa Tevita mo hono kau tangata, ʻo tauʻi ʻae kakai Kesuli, mo e kakai Kesili, mo e kakai ʻAmaleki; he ko kinautolu ko e kakai ʻi muʻa ʻoe fonua ʻi hoʻo ʻalu ki Sua, ʻo ʻalu atu ki he fonua ko ʻIsipite.
9 And he struck the land, and saved neither man nor woman alive; and they took flocks, and herds, and asses, and camels, and raiment; and they returned and came to Anchus.
Pea naʻe taaʻi ʻe Tevita ʻae fonua, pea naʻe ʻikai tuku ke moʻui ha tangata pe ko e fefine, pea naʻa ne fetuku ʻo ʻave ʻae fanga sipi, mo e fanga pulu, mo e fanga ʻasi, mo e fanga kāmeli, mo e ngaahi kofu, pea liu mai ʻo haʻu, pea hoko ia kia ʻAkisi.
10 And Anchus said to David, On whom have you made an attack today? And David said to Anchus, On the south of Judea, and on the south of Jesmega, and on the south of the Kenezite.
Pea pehē ʻe ʻAkisi, “Kuo mou tofa ʻae hala ki fē he ʻaho ni?” Pea pehē ʻe Tevita, “Ki he potu tonga ʻo Siuta, pea ki he potu tonga ʻoe kakai Selamili, pea ki he potu tonga ʻoe kakai Kena.”
11 And I have not saved man or woman alive to bring them to Geth, saying, Lest they carry a report to Geth against us, saying, These things David does. And this was his manner all the days that David lived in the country of the Philistines.
12 So David had the full confidence of Anchus, who said, He is thoroughly disgraced among his people in Israel and he shall be my servant for ever.
Pea naʻe tui ʻa ʻAkisi kia Tevita, ʻo ne pehē, “Kuo fakafehiʻa ʻaupito ʻe ia ʻa hono kakai ʻIsileli kiate ia; ko ia ʻe hoko ai ia ko ʻeku tamaioʻeiki ʻo taʻengata.”
