< Kings I 23 >

1 And it was told David, saying, behold, the Philistines war in Keila, and they rob, they trample on the threshing-floors.
Wọ́n sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Sá wò ó, àwọn ará Filistini ń bá ará Keila jagun, wọ́n sì ja àwọn ilẹ̀ ìpakà lólè.”
2 And David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and strike these Philistines? And the Lord said, Go, and you shall strike these Philistines, and shall save Keila.
Dafidi sì béèrè lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa pé, “Ṣé kí èmi ó lọ kọlu àwọn ará Filistini wọ̀nyí bí?” Olúwa sì wí fún Dafidi pé, “Lọ kí o sì kọlu àwọn ará Filistini kí o sì gba Keila sílẹ̀.”
3 And the men of David said to him, Behold, we are afraid here in Judea; and how shall it be if we go to Keila? Shall we go after the spoils of the Philistines?
Àwọn ọmọkùnrin tí ó wà lọ́dọ̀ Dafidi sì wí fún un pé, “Wò ó, àwa ń bẹ̀rù níhìn-ín yìí ní Juda; ǹjẹ́ yóò ti rí nígbà ti àwa bá dé Keila láti fi ojú ko ogun àwọn ara Filistini?”
4 And David enquired yet again of the Lord; and the Lord answered him, and said to him, Arise and go down to Keila, for I will deliver the Philistines into your hands.
Dafidi sì tún béèrè lọ́dọ̀ Olúwa. Olúwa sì dá a lóhùn, ó sì wí pé, “Dìde, kí o sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí Keila, nítorí pé èmi ó fi àwọn ará Filistini náà lé ọ lọ́wọ́.”
5 So David and his men with him went to Keila, and fought with the Philistines; and they fled from before him, and he carried off their cattle, and struck them with a great slaughter, and David rescued the inhabitants of Keila.
Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ sì lọ sí Keila, wọ́n sì bá àwọn ará Filistini jà, wọ́n sì kó ohun ọ̀sìn wọn, wọ́n sì fi ìparun ńlá pa wọ́n. Dafidi sì gba àwọn ará Keila sílẹ̀.
6 And it came to pass when Abiathar the son of Achimelech fled to David, that he went down with David to Keila, having and ephod in his hand.
Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí Abiatari ọmọ Ahimeleki fi sá tọ Dafidi lọ ní Keila, ó sọ̀kalẹ̀ òun pẹ̀lú efodu kan lọ́wọ́ rẹ̀.
7 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keila: and Saul said, God has sold him into my hands, for he is shut up, having entered into a city that has gates and bars.
A sì sọ fún Saulu pé Dafidi wá sí Keila. Saulu sì wí pé, “Ọlọ́run ti fi í lé mi lọ́wọ́; nítorí tí ó ti sé ara rẹ̀ mọ́ ní ti wíwá tí ó wá sí ìlú tí ó ní ìlẹ̀kùn àti kẹrẹ.”
8 And Saul charged all the people to go down to war to Keila, to besiege David and his men.
Saulu sì pe gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn náà jọ sí ogun, láti sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí Keila, láti ká Dafidi mọ́ àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀.
9 And David knew that Saul spoke openly of mischief against him: and David said to Abiathar the priest, Bring the ephod of the Lord.
Dafidi sì mọ̀ pé Saulu ti gbèrò búburú sí òun; ó sì wí fún Abiatari àlùfáà náà pé, “Mú efodu náà wá níhìn-ín yìí!”
10 And David said, Lord God of Israel, your servant has indeed heard, that Saul seeks to come against Keila to destroy the city on my account.
Dafidi sì wí pé, “Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, lóòótọ́ ni ìránṣẹ́ rẹ ti gbọ́ pé Saulu ń wá ọ̀nà láti wá sí Keila, láti wá fọ́ ìlú náà nítorí mi.
11 Will [the place] be shut up? And now will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? Lord God of Israel, tell your servant.
Àwọn àgbà ìlú Keila yóò fi mí lé e lọ́wọ́ bí? Saulu yóò ha sọ̀kalẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìránṣẹ́ rẹ ti gbọ́ bí?” Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, èmi bẹ̀ ọ́, wí fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ. Olúwa sì wí pé, “Yóò sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá.”
12 And the Lord said, It will be shut up.
Dafidi sì wí pé, “Àwọn àgbà ìlú Keila yóò fi èmi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin mi lé Saulu lọ́wọ́ bí?” Olúwa sì wí pé, “Wọn ó fi ọ́ lé wọn lọ́wọ́.”
13 And David arose, and the men with him, in number about four hundred, and they went forth from Keila, and went wherever they could go: and it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keila, and he forbore to come.
Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ tí wọ́n tó ẹgbẹ̀ta ènìyàn sì dìde, wọ́n lọ kúrò ní Keila, wọ́n sì lọ sí ibikíbi tí wọ́n lè rìn lọ. A sì wí fún Saulu pé, “Dafidi ti sá kúrò ní Keila; kò sì lọ sí Keila mọ́.”
14 And he lived in Maserem in the wilderness, in the narrow [passes]; and lived in the wilderness in mount Ziph, in the dry country. And Saul sought him continually, but the Lord delivered him not into his hands.
Dafidi sì ń gbé ní aginjù, níbi tí ó ti sá pamọ́ sí, ó sì ń gbé níbi òkè ńlá kan ní aginjù Sifi. Saulu sì ń wá a lójoojúmọ́, ṣùgbọ́n Ọlọ́run kò fi lé e lọ́wọ́.
15 And David perceived that Saul went forth to seek David; and David was in the dry mountain in the New Ziph.
Nígbà tí Dafidi wà ní Horeṣi ní aginjù Sifi, Dafidi sì rí i pé, Saulu ti jáde láti wá ẹ̀mí òun kiri.
16 And Jonathan son of Saul rose, and went to David to Caene, and strengthened his hands in the Lord.
Jonatani ọmọ Saulu sì dìde, ó sì tọ Dafidi lọ nínú igbó Horeṣi, ó sì gbà á ní ìyànjú nípa ti Ọlọ́run.
17 And he said to him, Fear not, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you; and you shall be king over Israel, and I shall be second to you; and Saul my father knows it.
Òun sì wí fún un pé, “Má ṣe bẹ̀rù, nítorí tí ọwọ́ Saulu baba mi kì yóò tẹ̀ ọ́. Ìwọ ni yóò jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli, èmi ni yóò sì ṣe ibìkejì rẹ. Saulu baba mi mọ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀ pẹ̀lú.”
18 So they both made a covenant before the Lord; and David lived in Caene, and Jonathan went to his home.
Àwọn méjèèjì sì ṣe àdéhùn níwájú Olúwa; Dafidi sì jókòó nínú igbó Horeṣi. Jonatani sì lọ sí ilé rẹ̀.
19 And the Ziphites came up out of the dry country to Saul to the hill, saying, Behold, is not David hidden with us in Messara, in the narrows in Caene in the hill of Echela, which is on the right of Jessaemon?
Àwọn ará Sifi sì gòkè tọ Saulu wá sí Gibeah, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Ṣé Dafidi ti fi ara rẹ̀ pamọ́ sọ́dọ̀ wa ní ibi gíga ìsápamọ́sí ní Horeṣi, ní òkè Hakila, tí ó wà níhà gúúsù ti Jeṣimoni.
20 And now [according to] all the king's desire to come down, let him come down to us; they have shut him up into the hands of the king.
Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí, ọba, sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá gẹ́gẹ́ bi gbogbo ìfẹ́ tí ó wà ní ọkàn rẹ láti sọ̀kalẹ̀: ipa tí àwa ní láti fi lé ọba lọ́wọ́.”
21 And Saul said to them, Blessed [be] you of the Lord, for you have been grieved on my account.
Saulu sì wí pé, “Alábùkún fún ni ẹ̀yin nípa Olúwa; nítorí pé ẹ̀yin ti káàánú fún mi.
22 Go, I pray you, and make preparations yet, and notice his place where his foot shall be, quickly, in that place which you spoke of, lest by any means he should deal craftily.
Lọ, èmi bẹ̀ yín, ẹ tún múra, kí ẹ sì mọ̀ ki ẹ si rí ibi tí ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ gbé wà, àti ẹni tí ó rí níbẹ̀: nítorí tí a ti sọ fún mi pé, ọgbọ́n ni ó ń lò jọjọ.
23 Take notice, then, and learn, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass that if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Juda.
Ẹ sì wò, kí ẹ sì mọ ibi ìsápamọ́ tí ó máa ń sá pamọ́ sí, kí ẹ sì tún padà tọ̀ mí wá, kí èmi lè mọ̀ dájú; èmi ó sì bá yín lọ: yóò sì ṣe bí ó bá wà ní ilẹ̀ Israẹli, èmi ó sì wá a ní àwárí nínú gbogbo ẹgbẹ̀rún Juda!”
24 And the Ziphites arose, and went before Saul: and David and his men [were] in the wilderness of Maon, westward, to the right of Jessaemon.
Wọ́n sì dìde, wọ́n sì ṣáájú Saulu lọ sí Sifi, ṣùgbọ́n Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ wà ní aginjù Maoni, ní pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ níhà gúúsù ti Jeṣimoni.
25 And Saul and his men went to seek him: and they brought word to David, and he went down to the rock that was in the wilderness of Maon: and Saul heard, and followed after David to the wilderness of Maon.
Saulu àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ sì lọ ń wá a. Wọ́n sì sọ fún Dafidi: ó sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ wá sí ibi òkúta kan, ó sì jókòó ní aginjù ti Maoni. Saulu sì gbọ́, ó sì lépa Dafidi ní aginjù Maoni.
26 And Saul and his men go on one side of the mountain, and David and his men are on the other side of the mountain: and David was hiding himself to escape from Saul: and Saul and his men encamped against David and his men, in order to take them.
Saulu sì ń rin apá kan òkè kan, Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ ní apá kejì òkè náà. Dafidi sì yára láti sá kúrò níwájú Saulu; nítorí pé Saulu àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ ti rọ̀gbà yí Dafidi àti àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ ká láti mú wọn.
27 And there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Haste you, and come here, for the Philistines have invaded the land.
Ṣùgbọ́n oníṣẹ́ kan sì tọ Saulu wá ó sì wí pé, “Ìwọ yára kí o sì wá, nítorí tí àwọn Filistini ti gbé ogun ti ilẹ̀ wa.”
28 So Saul returned from following after David, and went to meet the Philistines: therefore that place was called The divided Rock.
Saulu sì padà kúrò ní lílépa Dafidi, ó sì lọ pàdé àwọn Filistini nítorí náà ni wọ́n sì ṣe ń pe ibẹ̀ náà ní Selahamalekoti (èyí tí ó túmọ̀ sí “Òkúta Ìpinyà”).
29 And David rose up from thence, and lived in the narrow passes of Engaddi.
Dafidi sì gòkè láti ibẹ̀ lọ, ó sì jókòó níbi tí ó sá pamọ́ sí ní En-Gedi.
