Kings I 16
1 And the Lord said to Samuel, How long do you mourn for Saul, whereas I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and come, I will send you to Jessae, to Bethleem; for I have seen among his sons a king for me.
೧ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯನಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನಲ್ಲಾ; ನೀನು ಅವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಎಷ್ಟರವರೆಗೆ ದುಃಖಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಿ? ಕೊಂಬಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಾ; ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನಾದ ಇಷಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಅರಸನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
2 And Samuel said, How can I go? whereas Saul will hear of it, and kill me: and the Lord said, Take a heifer in your hand and you shall say, I am come to sacrifice to the Lord.
೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ನಾನು ಹೋಗುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ? ಇದು ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾದರೆ ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕುವನಲ್ಲವೇ” ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು, “ನೀನು ಒಂದು ಕರುವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಇಷಯನನ್ನು ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕರೆ.
3 And you shall call Jessae to the sacrifice, and I will make known to you what you shall do; and you shall anoint him whom I shall mention to you.
೩ಆ ನಂತರ ನೀನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಾನೇ ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಯಾರನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೋ, ಅವನನ್ನು ನೀನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂದನು.
4 And Samuel did all that the Lord told him; and he came to Bethleem: and the elders of the city were amazed at meeting him, and said, Do you come peaceably, you Seer?
೪ಯೆಹೋವನು ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆಯೇ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು. ಆ ಊರಿನ ಹಿರಿಯರು ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಎದುರುಗೊಂಡು “ನಿನ್ನ ಆಗಮನವು ನಮಗೆ ಶುಭಕರವಾಗಿದೆಯೇ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು
5 And he said, Peaceably: I am come to sacrifice to the Lord. Sanctify yourselves, and rejoice with me this day: and he sanctified Jessae and his sons, and he called them to the sacrifice.
೫ಅವನು, “ಹೌದು, ಶುಭಕರವಾಗಿದೆ; ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಶುದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಇಷಯನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ ಶುದ್ಧೀಕರಿಸಿ ಅವರನ್ನೂ ಯಜ್ಞಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದನು.
6 And it came to pass when they came in, that he saw Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord's anointed [is] before him.
೬ಅವರು ಬರಲು ಅವನು ಎಲೀಯಾಬನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ, ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವನು ಆತನ ಮುಂದೆ ಇದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance, nor on his stature, for I have rejected him; for God sees not as man looks; for man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
೭ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಅವನ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವನ್ನೂ, ಎತ್ತರವನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಬೇಡ; ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ನಿರಾಕರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಂತೆ ಹೊರಗಿನ ತೋರಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡದೆ ಹೃದಯದ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂತರಂಗದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ನೋಡುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಅಂದನು.
8 And Jessae called Aminadab, and he passed before Samuel: and he said, Neither has God chosen this one.
೮ಇಷಯನು ಅಬೀನಾದಾಬನನ್ನು ಸಮುವೇಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಲು ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇವನನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದನು.
9 And Jessae caused Sama to pass by: and he said, Neither has God chosen this one.
೯ತರುವಾಯ ಇಷಯನು ಶಮ್ಮನನ್ನು ಬರಮಾಡಲು ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇವನನ್ನೂ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
10 And Jessae caused his seven sons to pass before Samuel: and Samuel said, the Lord has not chosen these.
೧೦ಹೀಗೆ ಇಷಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮುವೇಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಅವನು, “ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇವರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದನು.
11 And Samuel said to Jessae, Hast you no more sons? And Jessae said, [There is] yet a little one; behold, he tends the flock. And Samuel said to Jessae, Send and fetch him for we may not sit down till he comes.
೧೧ಅನಂತರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಇಷಯನನ್ನು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಮಕ್ಕಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಷ್ಟೇ ಮಂದಿಯೋ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವನು, “ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವನು ಒಬ್ಬನಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಅವನು ಕುರಿಮೇಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಆಗ ಸಮುವೇಲನು, “ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ತಿಳಿಸು; ಅವನು ಬರುವವರೆಗೂ ನಾವು ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಇಷಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
12 And he sent and fetched him: and he was ruddy, with beauty of eyes, and very goodly to behold. And the Lord said to Samuel, Arise, and anoint David, for he is good.
೧೨ಅವನು ಕೆಂಪುಬಣ್ಣದವನೂ, ಸುಂದರನೇತ್ರನೂ, ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ರಮಣೀಯನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದನು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಸಮುವೇಲನಿಗೆ, “ಎದ್ದು ಇವನನ್ನು ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸು; ನಾನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡವನು ಇವನೇ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಲು
13 And Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward: and Samuel arose, and departed to Armathaim.
೧೩ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಎಣ್ಣೆಯ ಕೊಂಬನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನನ್ನು, ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಭಿಷೇಕಿಸಿದನು. ಕೂಡಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ದಾವೀದನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದು ನೆಲೆಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಅನಂತರ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ರಾಮಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು.
14 And the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.
೧೪ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಯಿತು; ಯೆಹೋವನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಪೀಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರಿಂದ
15 And Saul's servants said to him, Behold now, and evil spirit from the Lord torments you.
೧೫ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಇಗೋ, ದೇವರಿಂದ ಬಂದ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಪೀಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದೆ.
16 Let now your servants speak before you, and let them seek for our lord a man skilled to play on the harp; and it shall come to pass when an evil spirit comes upon you and he shall play on his harp, that you shall be well, and he shall refresh you.
೧೬ಸ್ವಾಮೀ, ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಲಿ; ನಿನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಾವು ಹೋಗಿ ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ನುಡಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಪುಣನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿ ತರುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಯೆಹೋವನಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ನಿನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬರುವಾಗ ಅವನು ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ನುಡಿಸಿದರೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಉಪಶಮನವಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
17 And Saul said to his servants, Look now out for me a skillful player, and bring him to me.
೧೭ಸೌಲನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನುಡಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹುಡುಕಿ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
18 And one of his servants answered and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jessae the Bethleemite, and he understands playing [on the harp], and the man [is] prudent, and a warrior, and wise in speech, and the man [is] handsome, and the Lord [is] with him.
೧೮ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲೊಬ್ಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಬೇತ್ಲೆಹೇಮಿನವನಾದ ಇಷಯನ ಮಗನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅವನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಿನ್ನರಿ ನುಡಿಸಬಲ್ಲವನೂ, ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯೂ, ಯುದ್ಧ ನಿಪುಣನೂ, ವಾಕ್ಚತುರನೂ, ಸುಂದರನೂ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
19 And Saul sent messengers to Jessae, saying, Send to me your son David who is with your flock.
೧೯ಕೂಡಲೆ ಸೌಲನು ಇಷಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಸಿದನು.
20 And Jessae took a homer of bread, and a bottle of wine, and one kid of the goats, and sent them by the hand of his son David to Saul.
೨೦ಇಷಯನು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ಬುದ್ದಲಿ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸವನ್ನೂ, ಒಂದು ಹೋತಮರಿಯನ್ನೂ, ಕತ್ತೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೇರಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಸೌಲನಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
21 And David went in to Saul, and stood before him; and he loved him greatly; and he became his armor-bearer.
೨೧ಹೀಗೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನ ಸೇವಕನಾದನು. ಸೌಲನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.
22 And Saul sent to Jessae, saying, Let David, I pray you, stand before me, for he has found grace in my eyes.
೨೨ತರುವಾಯ ಸೌಲನು ಇಷಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ದಾವೀದನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಲಿ” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
23 And it came to pass when the evil spirit was upon Saul, that David took his harp, and played with his hand: and Saul was refreshed, and [it was] well with him, and the evil spirit departed from him.
೨೩ದೇವರಿಂದ ಕಳುಹಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಕಿನ್ನರಿಯನ್ನು ನುಡಿಸುವನು; ಅದರಿಂದ ದುರಾತ್ಮವು ಸೌಲನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗುವುದು; ಅವನು ಉಪಶಮನಹೊಂದಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
