Kings III 3
1 And the wisdom of Solomon abounded exceedingly beyond the wisdom of all the ancients, and beyond all the wise men of Egypt: and he took the daughter of Pharao, and brought her into the city of David, until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the Lord first, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
೧ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಫರೋಹನ ಅಳಿಯನಾದನು. ಅವನು ಫರೋಹನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನ ಅರಮನೆಯನ್ನೂ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಆಲಯವನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಸುತ್ತಣ ಗೋಡೆಯನ್ನೂ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಮುಗಿಸುವ ತನಕ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ದಾವೀದನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಿಸಿದನು.
2 Nevertheless the people burnt incense on the high places, because a house had not yet been built to the Lord.
೨ಆ ವರೆಗೂ ಯೆಹೋವನ ನಾಮಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಆಲಯವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವಾದುದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನು ಆರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
3 And Solomon loved the Lord, [so as] to walk in the ordinances of David his father; only he sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.
೩ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದಾವೀದನ ವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಆ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಯಜ್ಞವನ್ನರ್ಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಧೂಪಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
4 And he arose and went to Gabaon to sacrifice there, for that [was] the highest place, and great: Solomon offered a whole burnt offering of a thousand [victims] on the altar in Gabaon.
೪ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು ಯಜ್ಞಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನವಾಗಿದ್ದ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಸಹಸ್ರ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದನು.
5 And the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and the Lord said to Solomon, Ask some petition for yourself.
೫ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, “ನಿನಗೆ ಯಾವ ವರ ಬೇಕು ಕೇಳಿಕೋ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು,
6 And Solomon said, You have dealt very mercifully with your servant David my father according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you, and you have kept for him this great mercy, to set his son upon his throne, as [it is] this day.
೬“ನಿನಗೆ ನಂಬಿಗಸ್ತನಾಗಿಯೂ, ನೀತಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಯಥಾರ್ಥಚಿತ್ತದಿಂದಲೂ ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನೂ, ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯೂ ಆದ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ನೀನು ಮಹಾ ಕೃಪೆಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿದ್ದೀ. ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಟ್ಟು ಈಹೊತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನಕ್ಕೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿರುವೆ.
7 And now, O Lord my God, you have appointed your servant in the room of David my father; and I am a little child, and know not my going out an my coming in.
೭ನನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನೇ, ನನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಅರಸನಾಗಿ ನೇಮಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವನು. ವ್ಯವಹಾರ ಜ್ಞಾನವಿಲ್ಲದವನು.
8 But your servant [is] in the midst of your people, whom you have chosen, a great people, which as this day can’t be numbered.
೮ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಾದ ನಾನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸಲಾಗದಂಥ ಮಹಾ ಜನಾಂಗವಾಗಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವಕೀಯ ಪ್ರಜೆಯ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
9 You shall give therefore to your servant a heart to hear and to judge your people justly, and to discern between good and evil: for who will be able to judge this your great people?
೯ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರನ್ನು ಆಳುವುದಕ್ಕೂ, ನ್ಯಾಯ ಅನ್ಯಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ನನಗೆ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ದಯಪಾಲಿಸು. ಈ ಮಹಾ ಜನಾಂಗವನ್ನು ಆಳಬಲ್ಲ ಸಮರ್ಥರು ಯಾರಿದ್ದಾರೆ?” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
10 And it was pleasing before the Lord, that Solomon asked this thing.
೧೦ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನ ಈ ಬಿನ್ನಹವನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿದನು.
11 And the Lord said to him, Because you have asked this thing of me, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked wealth, nor have asked the lives of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear judgment;
೧೧ಆಗ ದೇವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಿನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ದೀರ್ಘಾಯುಷ್ಯವನ್ನಾಗಲೀ, ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ವೈರಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಕೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ನ್ಯಾಯನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಬಿನ್ನಹವನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
12 behold, I have done according to your word: behold, I have given you an understanding and wise heart: there has not been [any one] like you before you, and after you there shall not arise one like you.
೧೨ನೋಡು, ನಿನಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ವಿವೇಕವನ್ನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಿನ್ನಂಥ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯು ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
13 And I have given you what you have not asked, wealth and glory, so that there has not been any one like you among kings.
೧೩ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ನೀನು ಕೇಳಿದಂಥದ್ದನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವಮಾನದಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲಾ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಗೌರವ ಘನತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದ ಅರಸನು ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನಿರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
14 And if you will walk in my way, to keep my commandments and my ordinances, as David your father walked, then will I multiply your days.
೧೪ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ದಾವೀದನಂತೆ ನನ್ನ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದು, ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞಾವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಾದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಆಯುಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವೆನು” ಎಂದನು.
15 And Solomon awoke, and, behold, [it was] a dream: and he arose and came to Jerusalem, and stood before the altar that was in front of the ark of the covenant of the Lord in Sion: and he offered whole burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace-offerings, and made a great banquet for himself and all his servants.
೧೫ಸೊಲೊಮೋನನು ನಿದ್ರೆಯಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚತ್ತಾಗ ಅದು ಕನಸೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡನು. ಅವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ನಂತರ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷದ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತು ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸೇವಕರಿಗಾಗಿ ಔತಣಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
16 Then there appeared two harlots before the king, and they stood before him.
೧೬ಅದೇ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ವೇಶ್ಯೆಯರು ಅರಸನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
17 And the one woman said, Hear me, [my] lord; I and this woman lived in one house, and we were delivered in the house.
೧೭ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬಳು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯಾ ಕೇಳು, ನಾನು ಮತ್ತು ಈ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಒಂದೇ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಇವಳು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗಲೇ ನಾನು ಮಗುವನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತೆನು.
18 And it came to pass on the third day after I was delivered, this woman also was delivered: and we [were] together; and there was no one with us besides our two selves in the house.
೧೮ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇವಳೂ ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ನಾವಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಇದ್ದೆವು. ನಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರ ಹೊರತು ಆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ
19 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
೧೯ಇವಳು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಕೂಸಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೊರಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅದು ಸತ್ತಿತು.
20 and she arose in the middle of the night, and took my son from my arms, and laid him in her bosom, and laid her dead son in my bosom.
೨೦ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇವಳೆದ್ದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸೇವಕಳಾದ ನಾನು ಗಾಢನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದು ತನ್ನ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಳು. ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದ ತನ್ನ ಮಗುವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಪಕ್ಕದಲ್ಲಿರಿಸಿದಳು.
21 and I arose in the morning to suckle my son, and he was dead: and, behold, I considered him in the morning, and, behold, it was not my son whom I bore.
೨೧ನಾನು ಹೊತ್ತಾರೆ ಎದ್ದು ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಮೊಲೆಕುಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದಿರುವಾಗ ಅದು ಸತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಬೆಳಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಅದು ನಾನು ಹೆತ್ತ ಕೂಸಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.
22 And the other woman said, No, but the living [is] my son, and the dead [is] your son. So they spoke before the king.
೨೨ಆಗ ಎರಡನೆಯವಳು, “ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ, ಬದುಕಿರುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು ಸತ್ತಿರುವವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು” ಎಂದು ನುಡಿದಳು. ಮೊದಲನೆಯವಳು ತಿರುಗಿ, “ಅಲ್ಲ, ಸತ್ತಿರುವವನು ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನು, ಬದುಕಿರುವವನು ನನ್ನ ಮಗನು” ಎಂದಳು. ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರು ಅರಸನ ಮುಂದೆ ವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.
23 and the king said to them, You say, This [is] my son, [even] the living [one], and this woman's son [is] the dead one: and you say, No, but the living [is] my son, and the dead [is] your son.
೨೩ಆಗ ಅರಸನು, “ಜೀವದಿಂದಿರುವ ಕೂಸು ನನ್ನದು. ಸತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿನ್ನದು ಎಂದು ಒಬ್ಬಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬಳು ಅಲ್ಲ ಸತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿನ್ನದು, ಜೀವದಿಂದಿರುವುದು ನನ್ನದು ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಾಳೆ.
24 And the king said, Fetch a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
೨೪ನನಗೊಂದು ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತಂದು ಕೊಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
25 And the king said, Divide the live child, the suckling, in two; and give half of it to one, and half of it to the other.
೨೫ಅವರು ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತರಲು ಅರಸನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಜೀವದಿಂದಿರುವ ಕೂಸನ್ನು ಕಡಿದು ಎರಡು ಭಾಗ ಮಾಡಿ ಅರ್ಧವನ್ನು ಇವಳಿಗೂ ಅರ್ಧವನ್ನು ಅವಳಿಗೂ ಕೊಡಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
26 And the woman whose the living child was, answered and said to the king, (for her bowels yearned over her son) and she said, I pray you, [my] lord, give her the child, and in nowise kill it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor hers; divide [it].
೨೬ಆಗ ಜೀವದಿಂದಿದ್ದ ಕೂಸಿನ ನಿಜವಾದ ತಾಯಿ ಕೂಸಿನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರಳು ಮರುಗಿ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯಾ ಬೇಡ, ಬದುಕಿರುವ ಕೂಸನ್ನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟುಬಿಡು. ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಡ” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡನೆಯವಳು, “ಅದು ನನಗೂ ಬೇಡ, ನಿನಗೂ ಬೇಡ ಕತ್ತರಿಸಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿದಳು.
27 Then the king answered and said, Give the child to her that said, 'Give it to her, and by no means kill it:' she [is] its mother.
೨೭ಕೂಡಲೇ ಅರಸನು, “ಬದುಕಿರುವ ಕೂಸನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಗೆ ಕೊಡಿರಿ. ಅವಳೇ ಅದರ ತಾಯಿ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
28 and all Israel heard this judgment which the king judged, and they feared before the king; because they saw that the wisdom of God [was] in him, to execute judgment.
೨೮ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಈ ತೀರ್ಪನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ನ್ಯಾಯ ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಈತನಲ್ಲಿ ದೈವಜ್ಞಾನವಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
