Kings III 22
1 And he rested three years, and there was no war between Syria and Israel.
മൂന്നുവർഷത്തോളം അരാമും ഇസ്രായേലുംതമ്മിൽ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായില്ല.
2 And it came to pass in the third year, that Josaphat king of Juda went down to the king of Israel.
എന്നാൽ, മൂന്നാംവർഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിനെ സന്ദർശിച്ചു.
3 And the king of Israel said to his servants, Know you that Remmath Galaad [is] ours, and we are slow to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് തന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരോട്: “ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് നമുക്കുള്ളതാണെന്ന് നിങ്ങൾക്കറിഞ്ഞുകൂടേ? എങ്കിലും, നാം അതിനെ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിൽനിന്നു തിരിച്ചുപിടിക്കാൻ യാതൊന്നും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 And the king of Israel said to Josaphat, Will you go up with us to Remmath Galaad to battle?
അപ്പോൾ ആഹാബ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനായി അങ്ങയും എന്റെകൂടെ വരാമോ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോട്: “ഞാൻ അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ; എന്റെ ജനം അങ്ങയുടെ ജനത്തെപ്പോലെ; എന്റെ കുതിരകൾ അങ്ങയുടെ കുതിരകളെപ്പോലെയുംതന്നെ” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
5 And Josaphat said, As I [am], so [are] you also; as my people, [so is] your people; as my horses, [so are] your horses. And Josaphat king of Juda said to the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray you, of the Lord today.
യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തുടർന്നു: “എന്നാൽ, ഒന്നാമതായി നമുക്ക് യഹോവയോട് അരുളപ്പാട് ചോദിക്കാം.”
6 And the king of Israel gathered all the prophets together, about four hundred men; and the king said to them, Shall I go up to Remmath Galaad to battle, or shall I forbear? and they said, Go up, and the Lord will surely give [it] into the hands of the king.
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ ഒരുമിച്ചു വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി അവരോട്: “ഞാൻ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിനുപോകയോ അഥവാ, പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്താണു ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “പോയാലും! കർത്താവ് അതിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുതരും,” എന്ന് അവർ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
7 And Josaphat said to the king of Israel, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him?
എന്നാൽ, യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ആഹാബിനോടു: “നാം ദൈവഹിതം അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിനായി ഇവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായി മറ്റാരുമില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
8 And the king of Israel said to Josaphat, There is one man here [for us] to enquire of the Lord by; but I hate him, for he does not speak good of me, but only evil; Michaias son of Jemblaa. And Josaphat king of Juda said, Let not the king say so.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “നാം യഹോവയുടെഹിതം ആരായേണ്ടതിനായി യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവ് എന്നൊരാൾകൂടി ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്; പക്ഷേ, അയാൾ എന്നെപ്പറ്റി തിന്മയായുള്ളതല്ലാതെ നന്മയായി ഒരിക്കലും പ്രവചിക്കാറില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ അയാളെ വെറുക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “രാജാവ് അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ,” എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ആഹാബിനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
9 And the king of Israel called a eunuch and said, [Bring hither] quickly Michaias son of Jemblaa.
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് തന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരിൽ ഒരാളോട്, “വേഗത്തിൽ യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരിക” എന്നു കൽപ്പന നൽകി.
10 And the king of Israel and Josaphat king of Juda sat, each on his throne, armed in the gates of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജകീയ വേഷധാരികളായി അവരവരുടെ സിംഹാസനങ്ങളിൽ ശമര്യയുടെ കവാടത്തിനുവെളിയിൽ ധാന്യം മെതിക്കുന്ന വിശാലമായ ഒരു മൈതാനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പ്രവാചകന്മാരെല്ലാം അവരുടെമുമ്പിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
11 And Sedekias son of Chanaan made for himself iron horns, and said, Thus says the Lord, With these you shall push Syria, until it be consumed.
കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവ് ഇരുമ്പുകൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പുകളുണ്ടാക്കി, “‘ഇതുകൊണ്ട് നീ അരാമ്യരെ ആക്രമിച്ച് അവരെ കുത്തിക്കീറിക്കളയും’ എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
12 And all the prophets prophesied in like manner, saying, Go up to Remmath Galaad, and [the thing] shall prosper, and the Lord shall deliver it and the king of Syria into your hands.
മറ്റു പ്രവാചകന്മാരും അങ്ങനെതന്നെ പ്രവചിച്ചു: “രാമോത്തിലെ ഗിലെയാദിനെ ആക്രമിക്കുക! വിജയിയാകുക! യഹോവ അതിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കും.”
13 And the messenger that went to call Michaias spoke to him, saying, Behold now, all the prophets speak with one mouth good concerning the king, let now your words be like the words of one of them, and speak good things.
മീഖായാവെ ആനയിക്കാൻപോയ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “നോക്കൂ, മറ്റു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെല്ലാം ഏകകണ്ഠമായി രാജാവിനു വിജയം പ്രവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങയുടെ പ്രവചനവും അവരുടേതുപോലെ രാജാവിന് അനുകൂലമായിരിക്കട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And Michaias said, [As] the Lord lives, whatever the Lord shall say to me, that will I speak.
എന്നാൽ മീഖായാവ്: “ജീവിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയാണെ, യഹോവ എന്നോട് എന്തു സംസാരിക്കുന്നോ അതുതന്നെ ഞാൻ പ്രസ്താവിക്കും” എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
15 And he came to the king: and the king said to him, Michaias, shall I go up to Remmath Galaad to battle, or shall I forbear? and he said, Go up, and the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
മീഖായാവു രാജസന്നിധിയിലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ രാജാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “മീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങൾ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനു പുറപ്പെടണമോ അഥവാ, പുറപ്പെടാതിരിക്കണമോ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. മീഖായാവു പരിഹാസത്തോടെ മറുപടികൊടുത്തു: “ആക്രമിക്കുക! വിജയം വരിക്കുക! യഹോവ അതിനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിക്കും.”
16 And the king said to him, How often shall I adjure you, that you speak to me truth in the name of the Lord?
രാജാവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ, എന്നോടു സത്യമല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊന്നും പറയരുതെന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ട് എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം ശപഥംചെയ്യിക്കണം?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
17 And he said, Not so. I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains as a flock without a shepherd: and the Lord said, [Is] not God lord of these? let each one return to his home in peace.
അപ്പോൾ മീഖായാവു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇസ്രായേൽസൈന്യം ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ മലമുകളിൽ ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാൻ ദർശനത്തിൽ കണ്ടു. ‘ഈ ജനത്തിനു നായകനില്ല; ഓരോരുത്തനും സമാധാനത്തോടെ ഭവനങ്ങളിലേക്കു പോകട്ടെ’ എന്ന് യഹോവ കൽപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.”
18 And the king of Israel said to Josaphat king of Juda, Did I not say to you that this man does not prophesy good to me, for [he speaks] nothing but evil?
അപ്പോൾ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ച് ദോഷമായതല്ലാതെ നന്മയായുള്ളത് യാതൊന്നും പ്രവചിക്കുകയില്ലെന്ന് ഞാൻ അങ്ങയോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
19 And Michaias said, Not so, [it is] not I: hear the word of the Lord; [it is] not so. I saw the God of Israel sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven stood about him on his right hand and on his left.
മീഖായാവു തുടർന്നു പറഞ്ഞത്: “എന്നാൽ, യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക. യഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിലിരിക്കുന്നതും തന്റെ സകലസ്വർഗീയസൈന്യവും അവിടത്തെ വലത്തും ഇടത്തുമായി ചുറ്റും അണിനിരന്നുനിൽക്കുന്നതും ഞാൻ ദർശിച്ചു.
20 And the Lord said, Who will deceive Achaab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall in Remmath Galaad? and one spoke one way, and another another way.
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ, ‘ആഹാബ് ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽച്ചെന്ന്, യുദ്ധത്തിൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടുംവിധം അതിനെ ആക്രമിക്കുന്നതിലേക്ക് ആര് അവനെ പ്രലോഭിപ്പിക്കും?’ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “ചിലർ ഇത്തരത്തിലും മറ്റുചിലർ മറ്റൊരുതരത്തിലും തങ്ങളുടെ അഭിപ്രായം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.
21 And there came forth a spirit and stood before the Lord, and said, I will deceive him.
എന്നാൽ, അവസാനം ഒരാത്മാവ് മുൻപോട്ടുവന്നു യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: ‘ഞാൻ അവനെ പ്രലോഭിപ്പിക്കും.’
22 And the Lord said to him, Whereby? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a false spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall deceive him, yes, and shall prevail: go forth, and do so.
“‘ഏതുവിധം?’ എന്ന് യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചു. “‘ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ട് അയാളുടെ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും അധരങ്ങളിൽ വ്യാജത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കും,’ എന്ന് ആ ആത്മാവ് മറുപടി നൽകി.” അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: “‘അവനെ വശീകരിക്കുന്നതിൽ നീ വിജയിക്കും; നീ പോയി അപ്രകാരം ചെയ്യുക!’ എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
23 And now, behold, the Lord has put a false spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and the Lord has spoken evil against you.
“അങ്ങനെ, യഹോവ ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ഈ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയെല്ലാം അധരങ്ങളിൽ വ്യാജത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. യഹോവ നിനക്കു നാശം നിർണയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
24 And Sedekias the son of Chanaan came near and struck Michaias on the cheek, and said, What sort of a spirit of the Lord [has] spoken in you?
അപ്പോൾ, കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവ് മുൻപോട്ടുചെന്ന് മീഖായാവിന്റെ മുഖത്തടിച്ചു. “യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവ് എന്നെവിട്ടു നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കാൻ ഏതുവഴിയായി വന്നു?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
25 And Michaias said, Behold, you shall see in that day, when you shall go into an innermost chamber to hide yourself there.
“ഒരു രഹസ്യ അറയിൽ ഒളിക്കാൻ പോകുന്നനാളിൽ നീ അതു കണ്ടെത്തും,” എന്നു മീഖായാവു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
26 And the king of Israel said, Take Michaias, and convey him away to Semer the keeper of the city;
അതിനുശേഷം ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ്: “‘മീഖായാവിനെ നഗരാധിപനായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കൽ തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുക.
27 and tell Joas the king's son to put this [fellow] in prison, and to feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction until I return in peace.
അവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലടയ്ക്കുകയും ഞാൻ സുരക്ഷിതനായി മടങ്ങിവരുന്നതുവരെ അപ്പവും വെള്ളവുംമാത്രം കൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുക എന്നതാണ് രാജാവിന്റെ ഉത്തരവ്,’ എന്ന് അവനോടു പറയുക” എന്ന് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു.
28 And Michaias said, If you return at all in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.
അപ്പോൾ മീഖായാവ്, “അങ്ങു സുരക്ഷിതനായി മടങ്ങിവരുമെങ്കിൽ യഹോവ എന്നിലൂടെ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. “ഈ ജനമെല്ലാം, എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കുറിച്ചിട്ടുകൊള്ളട്ടെ!” എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
29 So the king of Israel went up, and Josaphat king of Juda with him to Remmath Galaad.
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിനെതിരേ യുദ്ധത്തിനായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
30 And the king of Israel said to Josaphat king of Juda, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle, and do you put on my raiment. So the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “ഞാൻ വേഷപ്രച്ഛന്നനായി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കട്ടെ; എന്നാൽ, അങ്ങ് രാജകീയ വേഷം ധരിച്ചാലും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ് വേഷപ്രച്ഛന്നനായി യുദ്ധരംഗത്തു പ്രവേശിച്ചു.
31 And the king of Syria had charged the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight not [against] small or great, but against the king of Israel only.
എന്നാൽ, “ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവനോ വലിയവനോ ആയ മറ്റൊരുത്തനോടും യുദ്ധംചെയ്യരുത്” എന്ന് അരാംരാജാവ് തന്റെ മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രഥനായകന്മാർക്ക് ആജ്ഞ നൽകിയിരുന്നു.
32 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Josaphat king of Juda, that they said, this seems [to be] the king of Israel. And they compassed him about to fight [against] him; and Josaphat cried out.
രഥനായകന്മാർ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, “തീർച്ചയായും ഇതാണ് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവ്” എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചു; അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആക്രമിക്കാനായിത്തിരിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ, അദ്ദേഹം നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോൾ
33 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that this was not the king of Israel, that they returned from him.
അത് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാർ ഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പിൻതുടരുന്നത് അവസാനിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
34 And one drew a bow with a good aim, and struck the king of Israel between the lungs and the breast-plate: and he said to his charioteer, Turn your hands, and carry me away out of the battle, for I am wounded.
എന്നാൽ, ഏതോ ഒരു അരാമ്യപടയാളി യാദൃച്ഛികമായി വില്ലുകുലച്ച് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ കവചത്തിന്റെ വിടവുകൾക്കിടയിൽ എയ്തു. “രഥം തിരിച്ച് എന്നെ യുദ്ധക്കളത്തിനു വെളിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോകുക; എനിക്കു സാരമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു,” എന്നു രാജാവു തന്റെ തേരാളിയോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചു.
35 And the war was turned in that day, and the king was standing on the chariot, against Syria from morning till evening; and he shed the blood out of his wound, into the bottom of the chariot, and died at even, and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
അന്നുമുഴുവൻ യുദ്ധം അത്യുഗ്രമായിത്തുടർന്നു. അന്ന് അരാമ്യർക്ക് അഭിമുഖമായി രാജാവിനെ രഥത്തിൽ താങ്ങിനിർത്തിയിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുറിവിൽനിന്നു രക്തം രഥത്തിന്റെ അടിത്തട്ടിലേക്കൊഴുകി, അന്നു വൈകുന്നേരം ആഹാബു മരിച്ചു.
36 And the herald of the army stood at sunset, saying, Let every man go to his own city and his own land,
സൂര്യാസ്തമയസമയം, “ഓരോരുത്തനും അവനവന്റെ രാജ്യത്തിലേക്കും നഗരത്തിലേക്കും തിരികെപ്പോകട്ടെ” എന്നു ഉച്ചത്തിൽ പാളയത്തിൽ പരസ്യപ്പെടുത്തി.
37 for the king is dead. And they came to Samaria, and buried the king in Samaria.
അങ്ങനെ, ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവു മരിച്ചു; അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മൃതശരീരം ശമര്യയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് അവിടെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.
38 And they washed the chariot at the fountain of Samaria; and the swine and the dogs licked up the blood, and the harlots washed themselves in the blood, according to the word of the Lord which he spoke.
ആഹാബിന്റെ രഥം വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീകൾ കുളിക്കാറുള്ള ശമര്യയിലെ ഒരു കുളത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി കഴുകി. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുപോലെതന്നെ, അന്നു നായ്ക്കൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തം നക്കിത്തുടച്ചു.
39 And the rest of the acts of Achaab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities which he built, behold, [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
ആഹാബിന്റെ ജീവിതകാലത്തെ മറ്റുസംഭവങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളും ദന്തം പതിച്ച അരമന, പുനർനിർമിച്ച നഗരങ്ങൾ, ഇവയെക്കുറിച്ചെല്ലാം ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ചരിത്രഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളിൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടില്ലേ?
40 And Achaab slept with his fathers, and Ochozias his son reigned in his stead.
ആഹാബ് നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ച് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോട് ചേർന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവ് തുടർന്നു രാജ്യഭാരമേറ്റെടുത്തു.
41 And Josaphat the son of Asa reigned over Juda: in the fourth year of Achaab king of Israel began Josaphat to reign.
ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ നാലാംവർഷം ആസായുടെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദ്യയിൽ രാജാവായി.
42 Thirty and five years old [was he] when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name [was] Azuba daughter of Salai.
രാജഭരണം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് മുപ്പത്തിയഞ്ചുവയസ്സായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ജെറുശലേമിൽ ഇരുപത്തിയഞ്ചുവർഷം ഭരണംനടത്തി. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ പേര് അസൂബാ എന്നായിരുന്നു. അവൾ ശിൽഹിയുടെ മകളായിരുന്നു.
43 And he walked in all the way of Asa his father: he turned not from it, even from doing that which was right in the eyes of the Lord. Only he took not away [any] of the high places: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.

44 And Josaphat was at peace with the king of Israel.
യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഇസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുമായി സമാധാനബന്ധത്തിലായിരുന്നു.
45 And the rest of the acts of Josaphat, and his mighty deeds, whatever he did, behold, [are] not these things written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Juda?

തന്റെ പിതാവായ ആസായുടെകാലത്ത് അവശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നതും ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളെ ആസ്ഥാനമാക്കി നിലവിലിരുന്നതുമായ പുരുഷവേശ്യാസമ്പ്രദായത്തെ അദ്ദേഹം രാജ്യത്തുനിന്നു നിശ്ശേഷം തുടച്ചുനീക്കി.
ആ കാലത്ത് ഏദോമിൽ രാജാവില്ലായിരുന്നു; പകരം ഒരു രാജപ്രതിനിധിയായിരുന്നു ഭരണംനടത്തിയിരുന്നത്.
സ്വർണത്തിനുവേണ്ടി ഓഫീറിലേക്കു പോകുന്നതിന് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഒരു കച്ചവടക്കപ്പൽവ്യൂഹം നിർമിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ, അവ എസ്യോൻ-ഗേബെറിൽവെച്ചു തകർന്നുപോയതിനാൽ അവർക്ക് കടൽയാത്ര ചെയ്യാൻ സാധ്യമായില്ല.
ആ സമയത്ത് ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവ് യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോട്: “എന്റെ സേവകന്മാരെ അങ്ങയുടെ സേവകന്മാരോടൊപ്പം കപ്പലിൽ യാത്രചെയ്യാൻ അനുവദിച്ചാലും” എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ആ അപേക്ഷ നിരസിച്ചു.
50 And Josaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried by his fathers in the city of David his father, and Joram his son reigned in his stead.

51 And Ochozias son of Achaab reigned over Israel in Samaria: in the seventeenth year of Josaphat king of Juda, Ochozias son of Achaab reigned over Israel in Samaria two years.
യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പതിനേഴാംവർഷം ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവ് ശമര്യയിൽ ഇസ്രായേലിനു ഭരണാധിപനായി സ്ഥാനമേറ്റു. അദ്ദേഹം രണ്ടുവർഷം ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ഭരണംനടത്തി.
52 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of Achaab his father, and in the way of Jezabel his mother, and in the sins of the house of Jeroboam the son of Nabat, who caused Israel to sin.
അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ പിതാവിന്റെയും മാതാവിന്റെയും വഴികളിലും ഇസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ വഴികളിലും നടന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ തിന്മയായതു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.
53 And he served Baalim, and worshipped them, and provoked the Lord God of Israel, according to all that had been done before him.
തന്റെ പിതാവു ചെയ്തതുപോലെതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹവും ബാലിനെ സേവിക്കുകയും ആരാധിക്കുകയുംചെയ്ത് ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പ്രകോപിപ്പിച്ചു.
