< Song of Solomon 1 >
1 The song of songs, which [is] Solomon’s.
Rũrũ nĩruo rwĩmbo rwa Solomoni rũrĩa rwega gũkĩra nyĩmbo ciothe.
2 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love [is] better than wine.
Ta nĩamumunye na mamumunya ma kanua gake: nĩ ũndũ wendo waku nĩ mwega gũkĩra ndibei.
3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name [is as] ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.
Mũtararĩko wa maguta macio wĩhakĩte nĩ mwega; rĩĩtwa rĩaku no ta mũtararĩko wa maguta manungi wega magĩitanĩrĩrio. Na nokĩo wendetwo nĩ airĩtu!
4 Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Ndũkandige, nĩtũthiĩ nawe; reke twĩhĩke! Mũthamaki nĩandoonyie nyũmba ciake cia thĩinĩ. Arata Tũgũcanjamũka na tũkene nĩ ũndũ waku; tũrĩkumagia wendo waku gũkĩra ndibei. Mwendwa Kaĩ marĩ na kĩhooto gĩa gũkwenda-ĩ!
5 I [am] black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
Niĩ ndĩ mũirũ, no ndĩ mũthaka, inyuĩ aarĩ a Jerusalemu, njirĩte o ta hema cia Kedari, ngaagĩra o ta itambaya cia gũcuuria hema cia Solomoni.
6 Look not upon me, because I [am] black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; [but] mine own vineyard have I not kept.
Tigai kũndora nĩ ũndũ ndĩ mũirũ, tondũ njirĩte nĩ kũhĩa nĩ riũa. Ariũ a maitũ nĩmandakarĩire, makĩndua mũrori wa mĩgũnda ya mĩthabibũ; no mũgũnda wakwa wa mĩthabibũ nĩndĩũrekereirie.
7 Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest [thy flock] to rest at noon: for why should I be as one that turneth aside by the flocks of thy companions?
Atĩrĩrĩ, wee nyendete, ta njĩra harĩa ũrarĩithĩria rũũru rwaku rwa mbũri, njĩĩra harĩa ũkwarahia ngʼondu ciaku mĩaraho. Ingĩikara atĩa ta mũtumia mũhumbe maitho ndũũru-inĩ cia arata aku?
8 If thou know not, O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds’ tents.
We mũthaka kũrĩ andũ-a-nja othe, akorwo ndũũĩ-rĩ, umagara ũrũmĩrĩre makinya ma ngʼondu, ũkarĩithĩrie tũũri twaku hakuhĩ na hema cia arĩithi.
9 I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh’s chariots.
Wee, mwendwa wakwa-rĩ, ngũgerekanagia na mbarathi ya mũgoma yohereirwo ngaari ĩmwe ya ngaari cia ita rĩa Firaũni.
10 Thy cheeks are comely with rows [of jewels], thy neck with chains [of gold].

11 We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
Tũgũgũthondekera icũhĩ cia matũ cia thahabu, ciohanĩtio na tũbungo twa betha.
12 While the king [sitteth] at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
Rĩrĩa mũthamaki aarĩ metha-inĩ yake-rĩ, maguta makwa manungi wega maiyũrĩtie mũtararĩko wamo kũu.
13 A bundle of myrrh [is] my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.
Mwendwa wakwa harĩ niĩ-rĩ, ahaana ta koohe ka manemane gakomeire gatagatĩ ka nyondo ciakwa.
14 My beloved [is] unto me [as] a cluster of camphire in the vineyards of En-gedi.

15 Behold, thou [art] fair, my love; behold, thou [art] fair; thou [hast] doves’ eyes.
Hĩ! Kaĩ wee mwendwa wakwa ũkĩrĩ mũthaka-ĩ! Hĩ, ti-itherũ ũrĩ mũthaka! Maitho maku magĩrĩte o ta ma ndutura.
16 Behold, thou [art] fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed [is] green.
Hĩ! Kaĩ wee mwendwa wakwa ũkĩrĩ mũthaka-ĩ! Kaĩ ũkĩrĩ wa kwendeka-ĩ! Na ũrĩrĩ witũ nĩ ta nyeki ĩrĩa nduru.
17 The beams of our house [are] cedar, [and] our rafters of fir.
Mĩratho ya nyũmba iitũ nĩ ya mĩtarakwa; nayo mĩitĩrĩro yayo nĩ ya mĩkarakaba.
