Revelation 13
1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Da sah ich, wie ein Tier emporstieg aus dem Meere. Es hatte zehn Hörner und sieben Köpfe; auf seinen Hörnern waren zehn Kronen, auf seinen Köpfen gotteslästerliche Namen.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Das Tier, das ich sah, glich einem Panther; seine Füße waren wie die eines Bären, sein Maul wie ein Löwenmaul. Ihm übertrug der Drache seine Macht und seinen Thron und große Stärke.
3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
Eines seiner Häupter war wie zum Tode getroffen, doch seine Todeswunde heilte wieder. Die ganze Erde lief bewundernd diesem Tiere nach,
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
und man betete den Drachen an, weil er die Gewalt dem Tiere überlassen hatte. Und auch das Tier betete man an mit den Worten: "Wer ist dem Tiere gleich, und wer kann mit ihm streiten?"
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months.
Es wurde ihm ein Maul gegeben, das hochtrabende Worte und Lästerungen ausstieß; auch wurde ihm Gewalt verliehen, es zweiundvierzig Monate lang zu tun.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Es öffnete sein Maul zu Lästerungen gegen Gott, um seinen Namen, seine Wohnung und die, die im Himmel wohnen, zu lästern.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Auch ward es ihm gestattet, mit den Heiligen Krieg zu führen und sie zu besiegen. Ihm ward Gewalt verliehen über die Stämme, Völker, Sprachen und Nationen.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Alle Erdbewohner werden es anbeten, deren Namen seit Grundlegung der Welt nicht ins Lebensbuch des Lammes, das geschlachtet ward, eingetragen sind.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.
Wer ein Ohr hat, höre!
10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Wer in Gefangenschaft geführt hat, geht in Gefangenschaft; wer mit dem Schwerte getötet hat, muß durchs Schwert getötet werden. Hier gilt Geduld sowie der Glaube der Heiligen.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Ich sah, wie ein anderes Tier aus dem Lande emporstieg; es hatte zwei Hörner wie ein Widder, doch redete es wie ein Drache.
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Es übt die gleiche Macht aus wie das erste Tier unter dessen Augen. Und es bringt die Erde und die Erdbewohner dazu, das erste Tier, dessen Todeswunde geheilt ward, anzubeten.
13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Es wirkt große Zeichen; vom Himmel läßt es vor den Augen der Menschen sogar Feuer auf die Erde fallen.
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Und so verführt es die Erdbewohner durch die Zeichen, die es in der Kraft des Tieres machen durfte. Es forderte die Erdbewohner auf, ein Bild des Tieres anzufertigen, das eine Schwertwunde besaß und doch wieder lebendig wurde.
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Auch wurde ihm die Macht gegeben, dem Bilde des Tieres Leben einzuhauchen, so daß sogar das Bild des Tieres redete und alle töten ließ, die das Tierbild nicht anbeten wollten.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Auch machte es, daß alle, klein und groß, reich und arm, Freie und Sklaven, ein Zeichen auf der rechten Hand oder auf ihrer Stirne tragen sollten,
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
so daß niemand weder kaufen noch verkaufen kann, wenn er nicht das Zeichen trägt: des Tieres Namen oder den Zahlenwert seines Namens.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.
Hier braucht es Weisheit; wer Verstand besitzt, möge die Zahl des Tieres berechnen, es ist eines Menschen Zahl; sie heißt: Sechshundertsechsundsechzig.
