Psalms 91
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Assis dans l'asile du Très-haut, on repose à l'ombre du Tout-puissant.
2 I will say of the LORD, [He is] my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Je dis à l'Éternel: O mon refuge et mon fort, ô mon Dieu en qui je me confie!
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the noisome pestilence.
Oui, Il te dégage des rets de l'oiseleur, de la peste meurtrière;
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler.
Il te couvre de ses plumes, et sous ses ailes tu trouves un abri; sa vérité est un bouclier et un rempart.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; [nor] for the arrow [that] flieth by day;
Tu n'as pas à redouter l'épouvante de la nuit, ni la flèche qui vole durant le jour,
6 [Nor] for the pestilence [that] walketh in darkness; [nor] for the destruction [that] wasteth at noonday.
ni la peste qui s'avance dans les ténèbres, ni la contagion qui sévit au milieu du jour.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.
Que mille hommes tombent à ton côté, et des myriades à ta droite, tu es hors des atteintes.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
De tes yeux seulement tu en es spectateur, et tu assistes à la rétribution des impies.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, [which is] my refuge, [even] the most High, thy habitation;
C'est, ô Éternel, que tu es mon refuge; tu t'es choisi le Très-baut pour appui.
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Le malheur n'arrive point jusqu'à toi, et la plaie n'approche point ta tente.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Car Il donne pour toi l'ordre à ses anges de te garder en toutes tes voies.
12 They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Ils te porteront sur leurs bras, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre la pierre,
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Tu marcheras sur le lion et la vipère, tu fouleras le lionceau et le dragon.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
« Puisqu'il s'attache à moi, je veux le sauver, le mettre en lieu sûr, puisqu'il connaît mon nom,
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I [will be] with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Il m'invoque, et je l'exauce; je suis près de lui dans la détresse, je le délivrerai et je le glorifierai.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
De longs jours je le rassasierai, et je lui ferai voir mon secours. »
