Psalms 90
1 A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Prière de Moïse homme de Dieu. Seigneur, tu as été notre refuge de génération en génération.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God.
Tu es dans les siècles des siècles, avant la création des montagnes, et de la terre et du monde.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
Ne fais point retomber l'homme en son humiliation, toi qui as dit: Convertissez-vous, fils des hommes.
4 For a thousand years in thy sight [are but] as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
Car des milliers d'années sont à tes yeux comme le jour d'hier qui s'est écoulé, et comme une veille de la nuit.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning [they are] like grass [which] groweth up.
Leurs années seront comme un néant.
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
Que l'homme passe le matin comme la verdure; que le matin il fleurisse et passe; que le soir il tombe, soit foulé et se dessèche.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Car nous avons défailli devant ta colère; nous avons été troublés par ton courroux.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
Tu as mis nos iniquités devant ta face, et notre vie à la clarté de ton visage.
9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale [that is told].
Et tous nos jours se sont évanouis, et nous avons défailli devant ta colère. Et nos années sont tissues comme une toile d'araignée.
10 The days of our years [are] threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength [they be] fourscore years, yet [is] their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Les jours de nos années sont soixante-dix ans; et pour les forts, quatre-vingts; et au delà, ce n'est que peine et labeur. Alors la faiblesse nous vient et nous adoucit.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, [so is] thy wrath.
Qui peut connaître la force de ta colère, et mesurer la terreur qu'elle inspire?
12 So teach [us] to number our days, that we may apply [our] hearts unto wisdom.
Manifeste-nous donc ta droite, et instruis nos cœurs dans la sagesse.
13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Reviens à nous, ô Seigneur: jusques à quand…? Viens consoler tes serviteurs.
14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Nous avons, dès l'aurore, été remplis de ta miséricorde, et nous avons tressailli, et nous avons été pleins de délices tous les jours de notre vie.
15 Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, [and] the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
Nous nous sommes réjouis en retour des jours d'humiliation et des années mauvaises que nous avons vues.
16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
Jette un regard sur tes serviteurs et sur tes œuvres, et dirige leurs fils.
17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
Et que soit sur nous la clarté du Seigneur notre Dieu; Seigneur, dirige toi-même les travaux de nos mains.
