Psalms 73
1 A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God [is] good to Israel, [even] to such as are of a clean heart.
Hakika Mungu ni mwema kwa Israeli, kwa wale walio na moyo safi.
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
Lakini kwangu mimi, kidogo tu miguu yangu iteleze; miguu yangu karibu iteleze kutoka kwangu
3 For I was envious at the foolish, [when] I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
kwa sababu niliwaonea wivu wenye kiburi nilipoona mafanikio ya waovu.
4 For [there are] no bands in their death: but their strength [is] firm.
Kwa maana hawana maumivu hadi kufa kwao, lakini wana nguvu na wameshiba.
5 They [are] not in trouble [as other] men; neither are they plagued like [other] men.
Wako huru dhidi ya mizigo ya watu wengine; nao hawateswi kama watu wengine.
6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them [as] a garment.
Kiburi kinawapamba kama mkufu kwenye shingo zao; jeuri huwavika kama vazi.
7 Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
Katika upofu wa jinsi hii dhambi huja; mawazo maovu hupita mioyoni mwao.
8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly [concerning] oppression: they speak loftily.
Wao hudhihaki na kuongea kwa namna ya uovu; kwa kiburi chao hutishia mateso.
9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
Wameweka vinywa vyao dhidi ya mbingu, na ndimi zao hutanga tanga duniani.
10 Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full [cup] are wrung out to them.
Kwa hiyo watu wake huwageukia na maji yaliyojaa hukaushwa.
11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
Nao husema, “Mungu anajuaje? Yako maarifa kwake yeye aliye juu?”
12 Behold, these [are] the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase [in] riches.
Fahamu: watu hawa ni waovu; mara zote hawajali, wakifanyika matajiri na matajiri.
13 Verily I have cleansed my heart [in] vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Hakika nimeutunza moyo wangu bure na nimenawa mikono yangu pasipo kukosa.
14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
Maana mchana kutwa nimeteswa na kuadhibiwa kila asubuhi.
15 If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend [against] the generation of thy children.
Kama ningesema, “Ningesema mambo haya,” kumbe nigewasaliti kizazi hiki cha watoto wenu.
16 When I thought to know this, it [was] too painful for me;
Ingawa nilijaribu kuyaelewa mambo haya, yalikuwa ni magumu sana kwangu.
17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; [then] understood I their end.
Ndipo nilipoingia patakatifu pa Mungu na kuelewa hatma yao.
18 Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
Hakika wewe huwaweka penye utelezi; huwaangusha mpaka palipoharibika.
19 How are they [brought] into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
Jinsi gani wamekuwa ukiwa kwa muda mfupi! Wamefika mwisho nao wamemaliza kwa utisho.
20 As a dream when [one] awaketh; [so], O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
Wao ni kama ndoto wakati wa mtu kuamka; Bwana, utakapo inuka, utazidharau ndoto zao.
21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
Maana moyo wangu ulipata uchungu, nami nilijeruhiwa sana.
22 So foolish [was] I, and ignorant: I was [as] a beast before thee.
Nilikuwa mjinga na sijui neno; nilikuwa kama mnyama tu mbele yako.
23 Nevertheless I [am] continually with thee: thou hast holden [me] by my right hand.
Lakini mimi nipo pamoja nawe daima; umenishika mkono wa kuume.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me [to] glory.
Utaniongoza kwa shauri lako na baadaye utanipokea katika utukufu.
25 Whom have I in heaven [but thee]? and [there is] none upon earth [that] I desire beside thee.
Ni nani niliye naye mbinguni isipokuwa wewe? Hakuna nimtamaniye duniani isipokuwa wewe.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: [but] God [is] the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
Mwili wangu na moyo wangu huwa dhaifu, bali Mungu ndiye nguvu ya moyo wangu daima.
27 For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
Wale walio mbali nawe wataangamia; utawaangamiza wote wasio waaminifu kwako.
28 But [it is] good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
Lakini mimi, linipasalo kufanya ni kumkaribia Mungu. Nimemfanya Bwana Yahwe kimbilio langu. Nami nitayatangaza matendo yako yote.
