Psalms 4
1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David. Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me [when I was] in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
Jusqu'à la Fin, un cantique de David dans les Psaumes. Lorsque je l'eus invoqué, le Dieu de ma justice, il m'exauça; tu m'as dilaté en mon affliction. Aie pitié de moi, et exauce ma prière!
2 O ye sons of men, how long [will ye turn] my glory into shame? [how long] will ye love vanity, [and] seek after leasing? (Selah)
Fils des hommes, jusques à quand aurez-vous le cœur appesanti? D'où vient que tous aimez la vanité, et cherchez le mensonge? Interlude.
3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
Sachez donc que le Seigneur a rendu son Saint admirable; le Seigneur m'exaucera, lorsque je crierai vers lui.
4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. (Selah)
Indignez-vous, mais ne péchez pas; soyez touchés de componction de ce que vous méditez sur votre couche au fond de vos cœurs. Interlude.
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Offrez le sacrifice de justice, et espérez au Seigneur;
6 [There be] many that say, Who will shew us [any] good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
Plusieurs disent: Qui nous fera voir les biens? Seigneur, la lumière de ta face est empreinte sur nous;
7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time [that] their corn and their wine increased.
Tu as mis la joie dans mon cœur. [Mes ennemis] se sont multipliés dans l'abondance de leur pain, de leur vin, de leur huile.
8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Pour moi, je m'endormirai et me reposerai dans la paix; parce que toi, Seigneur, par une grâce singulière, tu m'as établi dans l'espérance.
