Psalms 12

1 To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

প্রধান সংগীত পরিচালকের জন্য। শমীনীৎ অনুসারে। দাউদের গীত। হে সদাপ্রভু, সাহায্য করো, কারণ কেউ আর বিশ্বস্ত নয়; যারা অনুগত তারা মানুষের মধ্য থেকে হারিয়ে গেছে।

2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: [with] flattering lips [and] with a double heart do they speak.

সবাই প্রতিবেশীদের কাছে মিথ্যা কথা বলে; তাদের মুখ দিয়ে তারা তোষামোদ করে কিন্তু হৃদয়ে প্রতারণা ধারণ করে।

3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, [and] the tongue that speaketh proud things:

সদাপ্রভু সব তোষামোদকারীর মুখ নীরব করেন এবং সব অহংকারী জিভ—

4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips [are] our own: who [is] lord over us?

যারা বলে, “আমাদের জিভ দিয়েই আমাদের জয় হবে; আমাদের মুখ আমাদের রক্ষা করবে—কে আমাদের উপর প্রভু হবে?”

5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set [him] in safety [from him that] puffeth at him.

“দীনহীনদের লুটপাট করা হচ্ছে ও দরিদ্ররা আর্তনাদ করছে, সেই কারণে আমি এবার জাগ্রত হব,” সদাপ্রভু বলেন। “অনিষ্টকারীদের হাত থেকে আমি তাদের রক্ষা করব।”

6 The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

ধাতু গলাবার পাত্রে পরিষ্কৃত রুপোর মতো, সাতবার শোধিত সোনার মতো, সদাপ্রভুর বাক্যসকল নিখুঁত।

7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি দরিদ্রদের নিরাপদে রাখবে এবং দুষ্টদের হাত থেকে চিরকাল আমাদের রক্ষা করবে,

8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

যদিও দুষ্টরা অবাধে ঘুরে বেড়ায় এবং মানবজাতির মধ্যে অধর্মের প্রশংসা করা হয়।
