Psalms 108
1 A Song [or] Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.
[Ein Lied, ein Psalm. [Eig. Ein Psalm-Lied] Von David.] Befestigt [O. Fest; vergl. Ps. 57,7-11] ist mein Herz, o Gott! ich will singen und Psalmen singen; auch meine Seele. [S. die Anm. zu Ps. 16,9]
2 Awake, psaltery and harp: I [myself] will awake early.
Wachet auf, Harfe und Laute! ich will aufwecken die Morgenröte.
3 I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.
Ich will dich preisen unter den Völkern, Jehova, und dich besingen unter den Völkerschaften;
4 For thy mercy [is] great above the heavens: and thy truth [reacheth] unto the clouds.
Denn groß ist deine Güte über die Himmel hinaus, und bis zu den Wolken deine Wahrheit.
5 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;
Erhebe dich über die Himmel, o Gott! und über der ganzen Erde sei deine Herrlichkeit!
6 That thy beloved may be delivered: save [with] thy right hand, and answer me.
Damit [Vergl. Ps. 60,5-12] befreit werden deine Geliebten, rette durch deine Rechte und erhöre uns!
7 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Gott hat geredet in seiner Heiligkeit: Frohlocken will ich, will Sichem verteilen, und das Tal Sukkoth ausmessen.
8 Gilead [is] mine; Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of mine head; Judah [is] my lawgiver;
Mein ist Gilead, mein Manasse, und Ephraim ist die Wehr meines Hauptes, Juda mein Herrscherstab. [And. üb.: Gesetzgeber]
9 Moab [is] my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.
Moab ist mein Waschbecken; auf Edom will ich meine Sandale werfen, über Philistäa will ich jauchzen.
10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
Wer wird mich führen in die befestigte Stadt, wer wird mich leiten bis nach Edom?
11 [Wilt] not [thou], O God, [who] hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?
Nicht du, Gott, der du uns verworfen hast und nicht auszogest, o Gott, mit unseren Heeren?
12 Give us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man.
Schaffe uns Hülfe aus der Bedrängnis! [O. vom Bedränger] Menschenrettung ist ja eitel.
13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he [it is that] shall tread down our enemies.
Mit Gott werden wir mächtige Taten [Eig. Mächtiges] tun; und er, er wird unsere Bedränger zertreten.
