Psalms 106
1 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Rühmet Jah! Danket Jahwe, denn er ist gütig; denn ewig währt seine Gnade.
2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? [who] can shew forth all his praise?
Wer kann die Machtthaten Jahwes ausreden, all seinen Ruhm verkündigen?
3 Blessed [are] they that keep judgment, [and] he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Wohl denen, die auf Recht halten, dem, der zu jeder Zeit Gerechtigkeit übt.
4 Remember me, O LORD, with the favour [that thou bearest unto] thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
Gedenke meiner, Jahwe, nach der Huld, die du deinem Volke verheißen; suche mich heim mit deiner Hilfe,
5 That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
daß ich am Glücke deiner Auserwählten meine Lust schaue, mich an der Freude deines Volkes freue, mit deinem Eigentum mich rühme!
6 We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
Wir haben gesündigt samt unsern Vätern, haben uns verschuldet, sind gottlos gewesen.
7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked [him] at the sea, [even] at the Red sea.
Unsere Väter in Ägypten begriffen deine Wunder nicht, gedachten nicht an deine große Gnade und empörten sich wider den Höchsten am Schilfmeer.
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
Aber er half ihnen um seines Namens willen, um seine Stärke kund zu thun.
9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
Er bedrohte das Schilfmeer, daß es vertrocknete, und führte sie durch die Fluten wie auf einer Trift.
10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated [them], and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
Er rettete sie aus der Gewalt dessen, der sie haßte, und befreite sie aus der Gewalt des Feindes.
11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
Die Gewässer bedeckten ihre Bedränger; kein einziger von ihnen blieb übrig.
12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
Da glaubten sie an seine Worte, sangen seinen Ruhm.
13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
Eilends vergaßen sie seine Thaten, warteten nicht auf seinen Entschluß.
14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
Sie verfielen in der Steppe auf ein Gelüst und versuchten Gott in der Einöde.
15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
Da gab er ihnen, was sie begehrten, und ließ die Darre in sie kommen.
16 They envied Moses also in the camp, [and] Aaron the saint of the LORD.
Und sie wurden eifersüchtig auf Mose im Lager, auf Aaron, den Heiligen Jahwes.
17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Die Erde that sich auf und verschlang Dathan und bedeckte die Rotte Abirams.
18 And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
Und Feuer zündete unter ihrer Rotte, die Flamme verbrannte die Gottlosen.
19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
Sie machten ein Kalb am Horeb und warfen sich nieder vor einem Gußbild
20 Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
und vertauschten ihren Herrlichen mit dem Bild eines Stiers, der Gras frißt.
21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
Sie vergaßen Gottes, ihres Erretters, der Großes in Ägypten gethan hatte,
22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, [and] terrible things by the Red sea.
Wunderbares im Lande Hams, Furchtbares am Schilfmeer.
23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy [them].
Da gedachte er, sie zu vertilgen, wenn nicht Mose, sein Auserwählter, vor ihm in die Bresche getreten wäre, um seinen Grimm vom Vertilgen wieder abzubringen.
24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
Sie verschmähten das wonnige Land und glaubten seinem Worte nicht.
25 But murmured in their tents, [and] hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
Sie murrten in ihren Zelten, hörten nicht auf die Stimme Jahwes.
26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
Da erhob er ihnen seine Hand und schwur, daß er sie in der Wüste fällen
27 To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
und ihre Nachkommen unter die Völker zerstreuen und in die Länder versprengen wolle.
28 They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
Sie hingen sich an Baal Peor und aßen von den Opfern der toten Götzen.
29 Thus they provoked [him] to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
Und sie erzürnten ihn durch ihre Thaten; da fuhr eine Plage unter sie.
30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and [so] the plague was stayed.
Pinehas aber trat auf und richtete, da ward der Plage Einhalt gethan.
31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
Und das wurde ihm als Gerechtigkeit zugerechnet durch alle folgenden Geschlechter bis in Ewigkeit.
32 They angered [him] also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
Sodann erzürnten sie Gott am Hader-Wasser, und es erging Mose um ihretwillen übel.
33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
Denn sie hatten seinem Geiste widerstrebt, und er redete unbedacht mit seinen Lippen.
34 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
Sie vertilgten nicht die Völker, die zu vertilgen Jahwe ihnen befohlen hatte.
35 But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
Sie ließen sich mit den Heiden ein und lernten ihre Werke;
36 And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
sie dienten ihren Götzen, und sie wurden ihnen zum Fallstrick.
37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
Sie opferten Söhne und Töchter den Dämonen
38 And shed innocent blood, [even] the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
und vergossen unschuldiges Blut, das Blut ihrer Söhne und Töchter, die sie den Götzen Kanaans opferten, daß das Land durch Blutschuld entweiht ward.
39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Sie verunreinigten sich durch ihre Werke und verübten Buhlerei mit ihren Thaten.
40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
Da entbrannte der Zorn Jahwes gegen sein Volk, und er verabscheute sein Eigentum.
41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Er überlieferte sie in die Gewalt der Heiden, daß ihre Hasser über sie herrschten.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
Und ihre Feinde bedrückten sie, und sie wurden unter ihre Gewalt gebeugt.
43 Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked [him] with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
Viele Male errettete er sie; sie aber waren widerspenstig in ihrem Vorhaben und sanken durch ihre Verschuldung.
44 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
Und er sah ihre Not an, als er ihr Flehen vernahm,
45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
und gedachte ihnen zu gut an seinen Bund und ließ sich's leid sein nach seiner großen Gnade.
46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
Er schaffte, daß sie Erbarmen fanden bei allen, die sie gefangen hielten.
47 Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, [and] to triumph in thy praise.
Hilf uns, Jahwe, unser Gott, und sammle uns aus den Heiden, daß wir deinem heiligen Namen danken, uns deines Lobpreises rühmen!
48 Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.
Gepriesen sei Jahwe, der Gott Israels, von Ewigkeit bis zu Ewigkeit, und alles Volk spreche: Amen! Rühmet Jah!
