Psalms 104
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.
De David lui-même. Bénis, mon âme, le Seigneur: Seigneur mon Dieu, votre magnificence a paru avec un grand éclat. Vous avez revêtu la louange et l’honneur;
2 Who coverest [thyself] with light as [with] a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
Couvert de lumière comme d’un vêtement; Étendant le ciel comme une tente;
3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
Vous qui couvrez d’eaux sa partie la plus élevée, Qui montez sur un nuage, qui marchez sur les ailes des vents;
4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Qui faites de vos anges des vents, et de vos ministres un feu brûlant;
5 [Who] laid the foundations of the earth, [that] it should not be removed for ever.
Qui avez fondé la terre sur sa base: elle ne sera pas ébranlée dans les siècles des siècles.
6 Thou coveredst it with the deep as [with] a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
L’abîme, comme un vêtement, l’enveloppe; des eaux s’élèveront au-dessus des montagnes.
7 At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
À votre réprimande elles s’enfuiront; à la voix de votre tonnerre, elles seront saisies d’une forte crainte.
8 They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
Des montagnes s’élèvent, et des champs s’abaissent dans le lieu que vous leur avez fixé.
9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
C’est vous qui avez posé aux eaux un terme qu’elles ne dépasseront pas, et elles ne reviendront pas couvrir la terre.
10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, [which] run among the hills.
Vous lâchez des fontaines dans les vallons: au milieu des montagnes traverseront les eaux.
11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
Toutes les bêtes de la campagne s’abreuveront; les onagres soupireront après elles dans leur soif.
12 By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, [which] sing among the branches.
Au-dessus les oiseaux du ciel habiteront: du milieu des rochers ils feront entendre leurs voix.
13 He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
Vous arrosez les montagnes avec les eaux supérieures du ciel: du fruit de vos ouvrages la terre sera rassasiée;
14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
Vous produisez du foin pour les bêtes, et de l’herbe à l’usage des hommes, Afin que vous fassiez sortir du pain de la terre,
15 And wine [that] maketh glad the heart of man, [and] oil to make [his] face to shine, and bread [which] strengtheneth man’s heart.
Et que le vin réjouisse le cœur de l’homme: Afin qu’il égaie son visage avec l’huile, et que le pain fortifie le cœur de l’homme.
16 The trees of the LORD are full [of sap; ] the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
Ils seront abondamment nourris, les arbres de la campagne et les cèdres du Liban qu’il a plantés;
17 Where the birds make their nests: [as for] the stork, the fir trees [are] her house.
Là des passereaux nicheront.
18 The high hills [are] a refuge for the wild goats; [and] the rocks for the conies.
De hautes montagnes servent de retraite aux cerfs; un rocher, de refuge aux hérissons.
19 He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
Il a fait la lune pour marquer les temps; le soleil a connu son coucher.
20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night: wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep [forth].
Vous avez établi des ténèbres, et la nuit a été faite: c’est durant la nuit que feront leurs courses toutes les bêtes de la forêt.
21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God.
Les petits des lions rugiront, cherchant une proie, et demandant à Dieu leur pâture.
22 The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, and lay them down in their dens.
Le soleil s’est levé, et ils se sont rassemblés; et ils se retireront dans leurs tanières.
23 Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.
Alors l’homme sortira pour son ouvrage, et pour son travail jusqu’au soir.
24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Combien magnifiques sont vos œuvres, Seigneur! Vous avez fait toutes choses avec sagesse: la terre est remplie de vos biens.
25 [So is] this great and wide sea, wherein [are] things creeping innumerable, both small and great beasts.
Cette mer est grande et spacieuse des deux côtés; là sont des reptiles sans nombre; Des animaux petits avec des grands;
26 There go the ships: [there is] that leviathan, [whom] thou hast made to play therein.
Là des navires traverseront.
27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give [them] their meat in due season.
Tous attendent de vous que vous leur donniez la nourriture au temps voulu.
28 [That] thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.
Vous leur donnant, ils recueilleront: vous ouvrant votre main, tous seront remplis de vos biens.
29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
Mais, vous détournant votre face, ils seront troublés: vous leur ôterez le souffle, et ils périront et retourneront dans leur poussière.
30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
Vous enverrez votre esprit, et ils seront créés; et vous renouvellerez la face de la terre.
31 The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
Soit la gloire du Seigneur à jamais célébrée: le Seigneur se réjouira dans ses œuvres,
32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
Lui qui regarde la terre et la fait trembler; qui touche les montagnes, et elles fument.
33 I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
Je chanterai le Seigneur pendant ma vie: je jouerai du psaltérion en l’honneur de mon Dieu, tant que j’existerai.
34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
Qu’agréable lui soit ma parole: pour moi, je mettrai mes délices dans le Seigneur.
35 Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
Que les pécheurs disparaissent de la terre, ainsi que les hommes iniques, en sorte qu’ils ne soient plus: bénis, mon âme, le Seigneur.
