Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
Mon fils, conserve mes paroles, et serre mes préceptes dans ton cœur!
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
Conserve mes préceptes, pour avoir la vie, et mes leçons, comme la prunelle de tes yeux:
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
attache-les à tes doigts, écris-les sur les tablettes de ton cœur!
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
Dis à la sagesse: Tu es ma sœur! et appelle la prudence ton amie intime!
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
pour qu'elle te garde de la femme d'autrui, de l'étrangère dont la langue est flatteuse.
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
Car, étant à la fenêtre de ma maison, je regardais à travers mes jalousies:
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
et je vis parmi les inconsidérés, je remarquai entre les fils un jeune homme sans raison.
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,
Il passait dans la rue près de l'angle où elle se tenait. et il prenait le chemin de sa demeure:
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
c'était au crépuscule, au déclin du jour, quand la nuit est noire et obscure.
10 And, behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.
Et voici, une femme vint au devant de lui ayant la mise d'une courtisane, et possédant son cœur,
11 (She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
elle était agitée, et sans frein; ses pieds ne se tenaient point dans sa maison;
12 Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
tantôt dans la rue, tantôt dans les places, elle était aux aguets près de tous les angles.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said unto him,
Et elle le saisit et l'embrassa, et d'un air effronté lui dit:
14 [I have] peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
« Je devais un sacrifice d'actions de grâces, aujourd'hui j'ai acquitté mon vœu.
15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
C'est pourquoi je suis sortie au devant de toi, pour chercher ton visage, et je t'ai trouvé.
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
Sur mon lit j'ai étendu des couvertures, des tapis diaprés de lin d'Egypte;
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
j'ai répandu sur ma couche la myrrhe, l'aloès et le cinnamome.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
Viens, enivrons-nous d'amour jusqu'au matin, et délectons-nous par des caresses!
19 For the goodman [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
Car mon mari n'est pas au logis, il voyage au loin;
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
il a pris avec lui la bourse de l'argent; il revient à la maison le jour de la pleine lune! »
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.
Elle le séduisit par tous ses discours, et l'entraîna par le doux langage de ses lèvres.
22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
Il la suit soudain, comme le bœuf va à la tuerie, comme les chaînes [que traîne] le fou qu'on châtie,
23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
jusqu'à ce qu'une flèche lui perce le foie; comme l'oiseau qui se précipite dans les lacs, ignorant qu'ils menacent sa vie.
24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
Or maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi, et soyez attentifs aux paroles de ma bouche!
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
Ne laisse pas ton cœur incliner vers sa voie, et ne t'égare pas dans ses sentiers!
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
Car elle en a percé et fait tomber plusieurs, et ils sont nombreux tous ceux qu'elle a tués.
