< Proverbs 29 >

1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
Namni ifannaa baayʼee booddee mataa jabaatu kam iyyuu akkuma tasaa caba; hin fayyus.
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Yommuu namni qajeelaan aangoo qabatutti, sabni ni ililcha; yommuu namni hamaan bulchu garuu sabni ni guunguma.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth [his] substance.
Namni ogummaa jaallatu abbaa isaa gammachiisa; miiltoon sagaagaltuu garuu qabeenya isaa barbadeessa.
4 The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
Mootiin murtii qajeelaadhaan biyyaaf nagaa buusa; kan mattaʼaaf gaggabu immoo biyya gargar qoqqooda.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
Namni ollaa isaa jaju, miilluma isaatiif kiyyoo kaaʼa.
6 In the transgression of an evil man [there is] a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
Namni hamaan cubbuu ofii isaatiin qabama; qajeelaan garuu ni faarfata; ni ililchas.
7 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: [but] the wicked regardeth not to know [it].
Namni qajeelaan mirga hiyyeessaatiif dhaabata; namni hamaan garuu dhimma akkanaa hin qabu.
8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise [men] turn away wrath.
Qoostonni magaalaa jeequ; ogeeyyiin garuu aarii qabbaneessu.
9 [If] a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, [there is] no rest.
Yoo ogeessi gowwaa wajjin mana murtii dhaqe, gowwaan sun ni aara yookaan ni kolfa; nagaanis hin jiraatu.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
Namoonni dhiiga dheebotan, nama amanamaa jibbu; nama tolaas ajjeesuu barbaadu.
11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise [man] keepeth it in till afterwards.
Gowwaan guutumaan guutuutti aariitti of kenna; ogeessi garuu of qaba.
12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants [are] wicked.
Yoo bulchaan tokko soba dhaggeeffate, qondaaltonni isaa hundi ni hammaatu.
13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
Hiyyeessaa fi namni nama cunqursu waan kanaan wal fakkaatu: Waaqayyo ija lachan isaaniitiifuu agartuu kenna.
14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
Yoo mootiin tokko wal qixxummaadhaan hiyyeeyyiif murtii kenne, teessoon isaa bara baraan jabaatee dhaabata.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
Ulee fi ifannaan ogummaa kennu; daaʼimni akkasumatti gad dhiifame garuu haadha isaa salphisa.
16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
Yommuu hamoonni aangoo qabatan, cubbuutu baayʼata; qajeeltonni garuu kufaatii jaraa argu.
17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
Ilma kee adabadhu, inni nagaa siif kenna; lubbuu kees ni gammachiisa.
18 Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.
Iddoo mulʼanni hin jirretti sabni gad dhiisii taʼa; namni seera eegu garuu eebbifamaa dha.
19 A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
Garbichi dubbii afaanii qofaan hin sirreeffamu; inni yoo hubate illee deebii hin kennuutii.
20 Seest thou a man [that is] hasty in his words? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.
Ati nama jarjarsuun dubbatu argitee? Isa irra gowwaatu abdii caalu qaba.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become [his] son at the length.
Nama garbicha ofii isaa ijoollummaa isaatii jalqabee qanansiisu, galgalli isaa rakkina.
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
Namni aaru lola kakaasa; kan dafee aarus cubbuu hedduu hojjeta.
23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Of tuulummaan namaa isuma gad deebisa; namni hafuuraan gad of qabu garuu ulfina argata.
24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth [it] not.
Namni hattuu wajjin qooddatu lubbuu ofii isaa jibba; inni ni kakata; garuu waan tokko illee hin himu.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Nama sodaachuun kiyyoo namatti taʼa; kan Waaqayyoon amanatu garuu nagaadhaan jiraata.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favour; but [every] man’s judgment [cometh] from the LORD.
Namni hedduun bulchaa biratti surraa argachuu barbaada; murtiin qajeelaan garuu Waaqayyo biraa dhufa.
27 An unjust man [is] an abomination to the just: and [he that is] upright in the way [is] abomination to the wicked.
Qajeelaan sobduu xireeffata; hamaan immoo nama tolaa jibba.
