< Proverbs 29 >
1 He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
Thuitaek pacoengah doeh angmah ih tahnong amtaksak kami loe, hoih thai ai, amrohaih to tong roep tih.
2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
Katoeng kami ukhaih kaa tawnh naah, kaminawk anghoe o; toe kahoih ai kami mah uk naah loe kaminawk palungset o.
3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth [his] substance.
Palunghahaih koeh kami loe ampa to anghoesak; toe tangzat zaw nongpata hoi angkom kami loe a tawnh ih hmuen to pasaeng boih.
4 The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
Toenghaih hoiah prae uk siangpahrang loe prae to caksak; toe bokhaih tangqum paekhaih koeh kami loe a prae to amtimsak.
5 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
A imtaeng pakoeh kami loe angmah aman hanah palok payang kami ah oh.
6 In the transgression of an evil man [there is] a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
Kasae kami loe a zaehaih pongah amanh; toe katoeng kami loe anghoehaih hoiah laa to sak.
7 The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: [but] the wicked regardeth not to know [it].
Katoeng kami loe kamtangnawk hanah khopoek pae; toe kahoih ai kami loe tidoeh dawncang ai.
8 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise [men] turn away wrath.
Minawk khet patoek kami loe vangpui to hmai angqongsak; toe palungha kami loe palungphuihaih to dipsak.
9 [If] a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, [there is] no rest.
Palungha hoi kamthu loe lam nawnto a caeh hoi naah, kamthu loe palungphuihaih hoiah maw, to tih ai boeh loe pahnuihaih hoiah maw om cadoeh, monghaih roe tawn mak ai.
10 The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
Minawk athii palong koeh kami loe katoeng kami to hnukma; toe katoeng kami loe minawk hinghaih to khet pae.
11 A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise [man] keepeth it in till afterwards.
Kamthu loe a poekhaih to taphong boih; toe palungha kami loe atue pha ai karoek to angphat.
12 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants [are] wicked.
Ukkung mah amsawnlok to tahngai nahaeloe, a toksah tamnanawk boih loe kasae kami ah ni oh o.
13 The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
Kamtang hoi aling thaih kami anghmonghaih loe hae tiah oh; Angraeng mah ni nihnik hanah mik aanghaih to paek hmaek.
14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
Siangpahrang mah kamtang to toenghaih hoiah lokcaek nahaeloe, angmah ih angraeng tangkhang to cak poe tih.
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame.
Thuitaekhaih cung mah palunghahaih to paek; toe prawt sut ih caa mah loe amno to ahmin setsak.
16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
Kasae kami pung naah, zaehaih doeh pung; toe katoeng kami mah loe nihcae amtimhaih to hnuk.
17 Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
Na caa to thuitaek ah, to tih nahaeloe anih mah poek monghaih to na paek tih; ue, anih mah poeknawmhaih to na paek tih.
18 Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.
Angzo han koi hmuen hnukhaih om ai ah loe kaminawk amro o; toe patuk ih lok pazui kami loe tahamhoih.
19 A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
Tamna loe kahoih lok khue hoi thuitaek han om ai; anih loe lok to thaih, toe thai ai baktiah om tih.
20 Seest thou a man [that is] hasty in his words? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.
Poek het ai ah karangah lok apae kami to na hnuk maw? To kami pongah loe kamthu to oepthoh kue.
21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become [his] son at the length.
Tamna to nawkta nathuem hoiah kahoih ah khetzawn nahaeloe, hnukkhuem ah angmah ih caa ah angcoeng tih.
22 An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
Palungphui thaih kami mah angzoehhaih to tacawtsak, poek amthueng kami loe zaehaih sak pop.
23 A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Amoekhaih mah kami to krahsak tathuk tih; toe kami tlim ah khosakhaih loe pakoehhaih ah oh.
24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth [it] not.
Kamqu hoi amyok kami loe a hinghaih to hnukma; anih mah kasae thuihaih lok to thaih, toe taphong han zit.
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
Kami zithaih loe kami hanah patung ih dongh ah oh; toe Angraeng oep kami loe ngancuem tih.
26 Many seek the ruler’s favour; but [every] man’s judgment [cometh] from the LORD.
Kami paroeai mah ukkung koehhaih to pakrong o; toe kami loe Angraeng khae hoiah ni toenghaih to hnuk.
27 An unjust man [is] an abomination to the just: and [he that is] upright in the way [is] abomination to the wicked.
Katoeng kami mah toeng ai kami to panuet; katoeng ai kami mah toenghaih hoi khosah kami to panuet toengh.
