< Proverbs 28 >

1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
Andũ arĩa aaganu moraga o na gũtarĩ mũndũ ũramathingata, no arĩa athingu momagĩrĩria ta mũrũũthi.
2 For the transgression of a land many [are] the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding [and] knowledge the state [thereof] shall be prolonged.
Bũrũri ũngĩĩhia, nĩũgĩaga na aathani aingĩ, no mũndũ ũrĩ na ũtaũku na akagĩa na ũmenyo nĩatũmaga bũrũri ũkindĩrie.
3 A poor man that oppresseth the poor [is like] a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
Mwathani ũrĩa ũhatagĩrĩria andũ arĩa athĩĩni ahaana ta mbura ya rũhuho ĩrĩa ĩtatigagia irio.
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
Andũ arĩa matirikaga watho magaathagĩrĩria andũ arĩa aaganu, no arĩa marũmagia watho magianaga nao.
5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all [things].
Andũ arĩa ooru matiiguaga maũndũ ma kĩhooto, no arĩa marongoragia Jehova nĩmataũkagĩrwo nĩ mo biũ.
6 Better [is] the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than [he that is] perverse [in his] ways, though he [be] rich.
Nĩ kaba mũndũ mũthĩĩni ũrĩa ũthiiaga na mĩthiĩre ĩtarĩ ũcuuke, gũkĩra gĩtonga gĩthiiaga na mĩthiĩre mĩogomu.
7 Whoso keepeth the law [is] a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous [men] shameth his father.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũmagia watho nĩ mwana ũrĩ na gũkũũrana, no mwana ũrĩa ũthiiaga na thiritũ ya arĩa akoroku aconorithagia ithe.
8 He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũingĩhagia ũtonga wake na ũndũ wa gũkombithia mbeeca na gwĩtia uumithio mũkĩru aũigagĩra mũndũ ũngĩ, ũrĩa ũkaiguĩra athĩĩni tha.
9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer [shall be] abomination.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũregaga kũigua watho, o na mahooya make nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi.
10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good [things] in possession.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩhĩtithia andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru nĩguo magere njĩra ya ũũru, akaagũa mũtego-inĩ wake we mwene, no ũrĩa ũtarĩ ũcuuke, wega nĩguo ũgaatuĩka igai rĩake.
11 The rich man [is] wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
Mũndũ mũtongu no eyone taarĩ mũũgĩ maitho-inĩ make, no mũndũ mũthĩĩni ũrĩa ũũĩ gũkũũrana maũndũ amuonaga o ũrĩa atariĩ.
12 When righteous [men] do rejoice, [there is] great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa arĩa athingu maatoorania, nĩkũgĩaga na ndũhiũ nene; no rĩrĩa arĩa aaganu maatũũgĩra, andũ nĩ kwĩhitha mehithaga.
13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall have mercy.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũhithaga mehia make ndagaacagĩra, no ũrĩa ũmoimbũraga na agatigana namo nĩaiguagĩrwo tha.
14 Happy [is] the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
Kũrathimwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa wĩtigagĩra Jehova hĩndĩ ciothe, no ũrĩa ũmagia ngoro yake nĩkũgũa agũũaga thĩĩna-inĩ.
15 [As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; [so is] a wicked ruler over the poor people.
Mũndũ mwaganu agĩatha andũ matarĩ na ũhoti, nĩ ta mũrũũthi ũkũrarama, kana nduba ĩgũticũka.
16 The prince that wanteth understanding [is] also a great oppressor: [but] he that hateth covetousness shall prolong [his] days.
Mũnene ũtarĩ na ũtaũku nĩahinyagĩrĩria andũ mũno, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũthũire uumithio ũtagĩrĩire nĩagakenera matukũ maingĩ ma muoyo wake.
17 A man that doeth violence to the blood of [any] person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
Mũndũ mũritũhĩre nĩ thakame ya mũndũ ooragĩte, egũtũũra ehithaga nginya gũkua gwake; mũndũ o na ũrĩkũ ndakanamũteithĩrĩrie.
18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but [he that is] perverse [in his] ways shall fall at once.
Mũndũ ũrĩa mĩthiĩre yake ĩtarĩ ũcuuke aikaraga arĩ mũgitĩre, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũthiiaga na njĩra cia waganu akaagũa o rĩmwe, hubu!
19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrĩmaga mũgũnda wake arĩĩkoragwo na irio nyingĩ, no ũrĩa ũhanyũkanagia na maũndũ hatarĩ arĩhũũnaga o thĩĩna.
20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Mũndũ mwĩhokeku arĩrathimagwo mũno, no ũrĩa wĩriragĩria kũhiũha gũtonga ndakaaga kũherithio.
21 To have respect of persons [is] not good: for for a piece of bread [that] man will transgress.
Gũtĩĩra mũndũ maũthĩ ti wega: no mũndũ no eke ũũru nĩ ũndũ wa kenyũ ka irio.
22 He that hasteth to be rich [hath] an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
Mũndũ mũkarĩ nĩeriragĩria mũno gũtonga, na ndooĩ atĩ etereirwo nĩ ũthĩĩni.
23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũithagia ũngĩ nĩagatuĩka wa kwendwo nĩwe thuutha-inĩ, gũkĩra mũndũ wa rũrĩmĩ rwa kwĩyendithĩrĩria.
24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, [It is] no transgression; the same [is] the companion of a destroyer.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũtunyaga ithe kana nyina kĩndũ kĩao, agacooka akoiga atĩrĩ, “Ti ũũru ndeka,” ũcio marĩ rũmwe na ũrĩa wanangaga.
25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
Mũndũ mũkoroku aarahũraga ngarari, no mũndũ wĩhokete Jehova nĩakagaacĩra.
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
Mũndũ ũrĩa wĩĩhokaga we mwene nĩ mũndũ mũkĩĩgu, no ũrĩa ũthiiaga na njĩra cia ũũgĩ aikaraga arĩ mũgitĩre.
27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũheaga athĩĩni ndarĩ kĩndũ akaaga, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũmahingagĩra maitho nĩarĩĩrumagwo kaingĩ.
28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
Rĩrĩa andũ arĩa aaganu maatuĩka a gwathana, andũ nĩ kwĩhitha mehithaga; no rĩrĩa arĩa aaganu mathira, arĩa athingu nĩmatheeremaga.
