Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
कल की बारे में घमण्ड़ न कर, क्यूँकि तू नहीं जानता कि एक ही दिन में क्या होगा।
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
ग़ैर तेरी सिताइश करे न कि तेरा ही मुँह, बेगाना करे न कि तेरे ही लब।
3 A stone [is] heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath [is] heavier than them both.
पत्थर भारी है और रेत वज़नदार है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ का झुंझलाना इन दोनों से गिरॉतर है।
4 Wrath [is] cruel, and anger [is] outrageous; but who [is] able to stand before envy?
ग़ुस्सा सख़्त बेरहमी और क़हर सैलाब है, लेकिन जलन के सामने कौन खड़ा रह सकता है?
5 Open rebuke [is] better than secret love.
छिपी मुहब्बत से, खुली मलामत बेहतर है।
6 Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful.
जो ज़ख़्म दोस्त के हाथ से लगें वफ़ा से भरे है, लेकिन दुश्मन के बोसे बाइफ़्रात हैं।
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
आसूदा जान को शहद के छत्ते से भी नफ़रत है, लेकिन भूके के लिए हर एक कड़वी चीज़ मीठी है।
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so [is] a man that wandereth from his place.
अपने मकान से आवारा इंसान, उस चिड़िया की तरह है जो अपने आशियाने से भटक जाए।
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so [doth] the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.
जैसे तेल और इत्र से दिल को फ़रहत होती है, वैसे ही दोस्त की दिली मश्वरत की शीरीनी से।
10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: [for] better [is] a neighbour [that is] near than a brother far off.
अपने दोस्त और अपने बाप के दोस्त को छोड़ न दे, और अपनी मुसीबत के दिन अपने भाई के घर न जा; क्यूँकि पड़ोसी जो नज़दीक हो उस भाई से जो दूर हो बेहतर है।
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
ऐ मेरे बेटे, 'अक़्लमंद बन और मेरे दिल को शाद कर, ताकि मैं अपने मलामत करने वाले को जवाब दे सकूं।
12 A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [but] the simple pass on, [and] are punished.
होशियार बला को देखकर छिप जाता है; लेकिन नादान बढ़े चले जाते और नुक़सान उठाते हैं।
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
जो बेगाने का ज़ामिन हो उसके कपड़े छीन ले, और जो अजनबी का ज़ामिन हो उससे कुछ गिरवी रख ले।
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
जो सुबह सवेरे उठकर अपने दोस्त के लिए बलन्द आवाज़ से दु'आ — ए — ख़ैर करता है, उसके लिए यह ला'नत महसूब होगी।
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
झड़ी के दिन का लगातार टपका, और झगड़ालू बीवी यकसाँ हैं;
16 Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, [which] bewrayeth [itself].
जो उसको रोकता है, हवा को रोकता है; और उसका दहना हाथ तेल को पकड़ता है।
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
जिस तरह लोहा लोहे को तेज़ करता है, उसी तरह आदमी के दोस्त के चहरे की आब उसी से है।
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
जो अंजीर के दरख़्त की निगहबानी करता है उसका मेवा खाएगा, और जो अपने आक़ा की खिदमत करता है 'इज़्ज़त पाएगा।
19 As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.
जिस तरह पानी में चेहरा चेहरे से मुशाबह है, उसी तरह आदमी का दिल आदमी से।
जिस तरह पाताल और हलाकत को आसूदगी नहीं, उसी तरह इंसान की आँखे सेर नहीं होतीं। (Sheol h7585)
21 [As] the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise.
जैसे चाँदी के लिए कुठाली और सोने के लिए भट्टी है, वैसे ही आदमी के लिए उसकी ता'रीफ़ है।
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, [yet] will not his foolishness depart from him.
अगरचे तू बेवक़ूफ़ को अनाज के साथ उखली में डाल कर मूसल से कूटे, तोभी उसकी हिमाक़त उससे कभी जुदा न होगी।
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds.
अपने रेवड़ों का हाल दरियाफ़त करने में दिल लगा, और अपने ग़ल्लों को अच्छी तरह से देख;
24 For riches [are] not for ever: and doth the crown [endure] to every generation?
क्यूँकि दौलत हमेशा नहीं रहती; और क्या ताजवरी नसल — दर — नसल क़ाईम रहती है?
25 The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
सूखी घास जमा' की जाती है, फिर सब्ज़ा नुमायाँ होता है; और पहाड़ों पर से चारा काट कर जमा' किया जाता है।
26 The lambs [are] for thy clothing, and the goats [are] the price of the field.
बरें तेरी परवरिश के लिए हैं, और बक़रियाँ तेरे मैदानों की क़ीमत हैं,
27 And [thou shalt have] goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and [for] the maintenance for thy maidens.
और बकरियों का दूध तेरी और तेरे ख़ान्दान की खू़राक और तेरी लौंडियों की गुज़ारा के लिए काफ़ी है।
