Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
No te alabes del día de mañana; porque no sabes que parirá el día.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.
Alábete el extraño, y no tu boca: el ajeno, y no tus labios.
3 A stone [is] heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool’s wrath [is] heavier than them both.
Pesada es la piedra, y la arena pesa: mas la ira del insensato es más pesada que ambas cosas.
4 Wrath [is] cruel, and anger [is] outrageous; but who [is] able to stand before envy?
Cruel es la ira; e impetuoso el furor: ¿mas quién parará delante de la envidia?
5 Open rebuke [is] better than secret love.
Mejor es la reprensión manifiesta, que el amor oculto.
6 Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful.
Fieles son las heridas del que ama; e importunos los besos del que aborrece.
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
El alma harta huella el panal de miel: mas al alma hambrienta todo lo amargo es dulce.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so [is] a man that wandereth from his place.
Cual es el ave que se va de su nido, tal es el hombre que se va de su lugar.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so [doth] the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.
El ungüento y el sahumerio alegran el corazón; y el amigo al hombre con el consejo dado de ánimo.
10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: [for] better [is] a neighbour [that is] near than a brother far off.
No dejes a tu amigo, ni al amigo de tu padre: ni entres en casa de tu hermano el día de tu aflicción: mejor es el vecino cercano, que el hermano lejano.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Sé sabio, o! hijo mío, y alegra mi corazón; y tendré que responder al que me deshonrare.
12 A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [but] the simple pass on, [and] are punished.
El avisado ve el mal, y escóndese: mas los simples pasan, y llevan el daño.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Quítale su ropa, porque fió al extraño; y por la extraña, préndale.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
El que bendice a su amigo a alta voz madrugando de mañana, por maldición se le contará.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
Gotera continua en tiempo de lluvia, y la mujer rencillosa son semejantes.
16 Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, [which] bewrayeth [itself].
El que la escondió, escondió el viento; porque el aceite en su mano derecha clama.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Hierro con hierro se aguza; y el hombre aguza el rostro de su amigo.
18 Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.
El que guarda la higuera, come su fruto: y el que guarda a su señor, será honrado.
19 As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.
Como un agua se parece a otra, así el corazón del hombre al otro.
El sepulcro y la perdición nunca se hartan: así los ojos de los hombres nunca se hartan. (Sheol h7585)
21 [As] the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise.
El crisol prueba la plata, y la fragua el oro; y al hombre la boca del que le alaba.
22 Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, [yet] will not his foolishness depart from him.
Aunque majes al insensato en un mortero entre granos de trigo majados a pisón, no se quitará de él su fatuidad.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds.
Considera atentamente el rostro de tus ovejas: pon tu corazón al ganado.
24 For riches [are] not for ever: and doth the crown [endure] to every generation?
Porque las riquezas no son para siempre; ¿y la corona será para perpetuas generaciones?
25 The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
Saldrá la grama, aparecerá la yerba, y segarse han las yerbas de los montes.
26 The lambs [are] for thy clothing, and the goats [are] the price of the field.
Los corderos para tus vestidos, y los cabritos para el precio del campo.
27 And [thou shalt have] goats’ milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and [for] the maintenance for thy maidens.
Y abundancia de leche de las cabras para tu mantenimiento, y para mantenimiento de tu casa, y para sustento de tus criadas.
