Proverbs 26
1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.
೧ಬೇಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಮ, ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಹೇಗೋ, ಮೂಢನಿಗೆ ಮಾನವು ಹಾಗೆ ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ.
2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
೨ಕುಪ್ಪಳಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಗುಬ್ಬಿಯಂತೆ, ಹಾರಾಡುವ ಬಾನಕ್ಕಿಯ ಹಾಗೆ, ಕಾರಣವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಶಾಪವು ಎರಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲದು.
3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool’s back.
೩ಕುದುರೆಗೆ ಚಬುಕು, ಕತ್ತೆಗೆ ಕಡಿವಾಣ, ಮೂಢನ ಬೆನ್ನಿಗೆ ಬೆತ್ತ.
4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
೪ಮೂಢನ ಮೂರ್ಖತನಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಬೇಡ, ನೀನೂ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನನಾದೀಯೆ.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
೫ಮೂಢನ ಮೂರ್ಖತನಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡು, ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಾನು.
6 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, [and] drinketh damage.
೬ಮೂಢನ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸುವವನು, ತನ್ನ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತಾನೇ ಕಡಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವನು.
7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so [is] a parable in the mouth of fools.
೭ಮೂಢನ ಬಾಯಿಯ ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಯು, ಜೋಲಾಡುವ ಕುಂಟಕಾಲು.
8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so [is] he that giveth honour to a fool.
೮ಮೂಢನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ಮಾನವು, ಕವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಹಾಗೆ.
9 [As] a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so [is] a parable in the mouth of fools.
೯ಮೂಢನ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಜ್ಞಾನೋಕ್ತಿಯು, ಕುಡುಕನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗೋಲಿನ ಹಾಗೆ.
10 The great [God] that formed all [things] both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
೧೦ಮೂಢರನ್ನೂ, ತಿರುಗಾಡುವವರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಲಿಗೆ ಕರೆಯುವವನು, ಯಾರಿಗೋ ತಗಲಲಿ ಎಂದು ಬಾಣವನ್ನು ಎಸೆಯುವವನಂತೆ.
11 As a dog returneth to his vomit, [so] a fool returneth to his folly.
೧೧ನಾಯಿ ತಾನು ಕಕ್ಕಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನೆಕ್ಕುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಹಾಗೆ, ಮೂಢನು ತಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಮೂರ್ಖತನವನ್ನೇ ಪುನಃ ಮಾಡುವನು.
12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him.
೧೨ತಾನೇ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನನ್ನು ನೋಡು, ಅಂಥವನಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಮೂಢನ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನಿಡಬಹುದು.
13 The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion in the way; a lion [is] in the streets.
೧೩“ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಂಹವಿದೆ, ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತಿರುಗಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ” ಎಂಬುದು ಸೋಮಾರಿಯ ನೆವ.
14 [As] the door turneth upon his hinges, so [doth] the slothful upon his bed.
೧೪ಕದವು ತಿರುಗುಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೋ, ಹಾಗೆ ಸೋಮಾರಿಯು ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಳಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವನು.
15 The slothful hideth his hand in [his] bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.
೧೫ಸೋಮಾರಿಯು ಪಾತ್ರೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಕೈ ಮುಳುಗಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ತಿರುಗಿ ಬಾಯಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ತರಲಾರದಷ್ಟು ಆಯಾಸಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
16 The sluggard [is] wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.
೧೬ವಿವೇಕದಿಂದ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಬಲ್ಲ ಏಳು ಜನರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ, ತಾನೇ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯೆಂದು ಸೋಮಾರಿಯು ಎಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವನು.
17 He that passeth by, [and] meddleth with strife [belonging] not to him, [is like] one that taketh a dog by the ears.
೧೭ಒಬ್ಬನು ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾ ಪರರ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿ ರೇಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, ನಾಯಿಯ ಕಿವಿಹಿಡಿದ ಹಾಗೆ.
18 As a mad [man] who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,
೧೮ನೆರೆಯವನನ್ನು ಮೋಸಗೊಳಿಸಿ, “ತಮಾಷೆಗೋಸ್ಕರ, ಮಾಡಿದೆನಲ್ಲಾ” ಎನ್ನುವವನು,
19 So [is] the man [that] deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
೧೯ಕೊಳ್ಳಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಅಂಬುಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸಾವನ್ನೂ ಬೀರುವ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹುಚ್ಚನ ಹಾಗೆ.
20 Where no wood is, [there] the fire goeth out: so where [there is] no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
೨೦ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಆರುವುದು, ಚಾಡಿಕೋರನು ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ ಜಗಳ ಶಮನವಾಗುವುದು.
21 [As] coals [are] to burning coals, and wood to fire; so [is] a contentious man to kindle strife.
೨೧ಕೆಂಡಕ್ಕೆ ಇದ್ದಲು, ಉರಿಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ, ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯದ ಕಿಚ್ಚನ್ನೆಬ್ಬಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಜಗಳಗಂಟಿಗ.
22 The words of a talebearer [are] as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
೨೨ಚಾಡಿಕೋರನ ಮಾತುಗಳು ರುಚಿಯಾದ ತುತ್ತುಗಳು, ಇವು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯೊಳಕ್ಕೇ ಇಳಿಯುವವು.
23 Burning lips and a wicked heart [are like] a potsherd covered with silver dross.
೨೩ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಹೃದಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯನ್ನಾಡುವ ತುಟಿಯು, ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಲೇಪನ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮಡಿಕೆಯ ಹಾಗೆ.
24 He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;
೨೪ಶತ್ರುವು ಸ್ನೇಹಭಾವದಿಂದ ನಟಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಅಂತರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೀ ಮೋಸವನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for [there are] seven abominations in his heart.
೨೫ಸವಿಮಾತನಾಡಿದರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ನಂಬಬೇಡ, ಅವನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಹೇಯ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳು.
26 [Whose] hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the [whole] congregation.
೨೬ತನ್ನ ಹಗೆಯನ್ನು ವಂಚನೆಯಿಂದ ಮರೆಮಾಚಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅವನ ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವು ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬೈಲಾಗುವುದು.
27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
೨೭ಗುಂಡಿಯನ್ನು ತೋಡುವವನು ತಾನೇ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುವನು, ಹೊರಳಿಸುವವನ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಕಲ್ಲು ಹೊರಳುವುದು.
28 A lying tongue hateth [those that are] afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
೨೮ಸುಳ್ಳು ನಾಲಿಗೆಯವನು ತಾನು ಬಾಧಿಸಿದವರನ್ನೇ ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವನು, ಕಪಟದ ಬಾಯಿ ನಾಶಕರ.
