Proverbs 24
1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
கொடியவர்கள்மேல் பொறாமை கொள்ளாதே; அவர்களுடன் கூட்டுச்சேர விரும்பாதே.
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் இருதயம் மற்றவர்களைக் காயப்படுத்தத் திட்டமிடுகின்றன, அவர்களுடைய உதடுகள் கலகம் விளைவிப்பதையே பேசும்.
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
ஞானத்தால் வீடு கட்டப்பட்டு புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலினால் அது நிலைநாட்டப்படுகிறது;
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
அறிவினால் அதின் அறைகள், அபூர்வமான அழகிய பொருட்களால் நிரப்பப்படுகின்றன.
5 A wise man [is] strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
ஞானமுள்ளவன் மிகுந்த வல்லமையுடையவன், அறிவுள்ளவன் தன் பெலத்தை பெருக்குகிறான்.
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors [there is] safety.
போர் செய்ய வழிநடத்துதல் தேவை, வெற்றிபெற அநேக ஆலோசகர்கள் தேவை.
7 Wisdom [is] too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
ஞானம் மூடனுக்கு எட்டாத உயரத்திலுள்ளது; பட்டண வாசலில் கூடும் சபையில் சொல்வதற்கு அவனுக்கு ஒன்றும் இல்லை.
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
தீமையான சூழ்ச்சி செய்பவன் சதிகாரன் என அழைக்கப்படுவான்.
9 The thought of foolishness [is] sin: and the scorner [is] an abomination to men.
மூடரின் திட்டங்கள் பாவமாகும், ஏளனம் செய்பவர்களை மனிதர் வெறுக்கிறார்கள்.
10 [If] thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength [is] small.
துன்ப காலத்தில் நீ மனம் சோர்ந்துபோனால், உன் பெலன் எவ்வளவு குறைவானது.
11 If thou forbear to deliver [them that are] drawn unto death, and [those that are] ready to be slain;
மரணத்திற்கு வழிநடத்தப்படுகிறவர்களைத் தப்புவி; கொல்லப்பட களத்துக்குக் கொண்டுசெல்லப்படுகிறவர்களைக் காப்பாற்று.
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider [it]? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth [not] he know [it]? and shall [not] he render to [every] man according to his works?
“எங்களுக்கு அதைப்பற்றி ஒன்றும் தெரியாது” என்று நீங்கள் சொல்வீர்களானால், இருதயங்களை ஆராய்ந்து பார்க்கிற இறைவன் அதைக் காணமாட்டாரோ? உங்கள் வாழ்வைக் காக்கிறவர் அதை அறியாமலிருப்பாரோ? ஒவ்வொருவருக்கும் அவர்கள் செய்வதற்குத் தக்கதாய் அவர் பதில்செய்யாமல் விடுவாரோ?
13 My son, eat thou honey, because [it is] good; and the honeycomb, [which is] sweet to thy taste:
என் மகனே, நீ தேனைச் சாப்பிடு; அது நல்லது; கூட்டிலிருந்து ஒழுகும் தேன் நீ சுவைப்பதற்கு இனிமையாயிருக்கும்.
14 So [shall] the knowledge of wisdom [be] unto thy soul: when thou hast found [it], then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
அதேபோல் ஞானமும் உன் ஆத்துமாவிற்கு இனிமையானது என்று அறிந்துகொள்: அதை நீ தெரிந்துகொண்டால் உனக்கு எதிர்கால நம்பிக்கை உண்டு, உன் எதிர்பார்ப்பு வீண்போகாது.
15 Lay not wait, O wicked [man], against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
நீ ஒரு திருடனைப்போல் நீதிமானின் வீட்டிற்கு எதிராகப் பதுங்கிக் காத்திருக்காதே; அவனுடைய வீட்டைக் கொள்ளையடிக்காதே.
16 For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
ஏனெனில் நீதிமான் ஏழுமுறை விழுந்தாலும், அவன் எழுந்திருப்பான்; ஆனால் கொடியவர்களோ பேராபத்தினால் வீழ்த்தப்படுவார்கள்.
17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
உன் பகைவன் விழும்போது நீ ஏளனம் செய்து மகிழாதே; அவன் தடுமாறும்போது, உன் இருதயத்தில் சந்தோஷமடையாதே.
18 Lest the LORD see [it], and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
நீ மகிழ்ந்தால் யெகோவா அதைக்கண்டு அவன்மேலிருக்கும் தன் கோபத்தை விலக்கி உன்மேல் மனவருத்தமடைவார்.
19 Fret not thyself because of evil [men], neither be thou envious at the wicked;
தீமையானவர்களைக் குறித்து எரிச்சலடையாதே, கொடியவர்கள்மேல் பொறாமை கொள்ளாதே.
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil [man; ] the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
ஏனெனில் தீய மனிதனுக்கு எதிர்காலத்தைப் பற்றிய நம்பிக்கை இல்லை; கொடியவர்களின் விளக்கோ அணைந்துபோகும்.
21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: [and] meddle not with them that are given to change:
என் மகனே, யெகோவாவுக்கும் அரசனுக்கும் பயந்து நட, கலகக்காரர்களுடன் நீ சேராதே.
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
ஏனெனில், திடீரென அவர்களுக்கு அழிவு வரும், யெகோவாவும் அரசனும் எத்தகைய பேரழிவை அனுப்புவார்கள் என்று யாருக்குத் தெரியும்?
23 These [things] also [belong] to the wise. [It is] not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
ஞானிகளின் கூடுதலான பழமொழிகள் என்னவெனில்: நியாயத்தீர்ப்பில் பாரபட்சம் காட்டுவது நல்லதல்ல:
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou [art] righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
குற்றவாளியைப் பார்த்து, “நீ குற்றமில்லாதவன்” எனச் சொல்பவனை மக்கள் சபிப்பார்கள், நாடுகள் அனைத்தும் அவனை வெறுப்பார்கள்.
25 But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
ஆனால் குற்றவாளியைக் கடிந்துகொள்கிறவனுக்கு நலமுண்டாகும், அவர்கள்மேல் மிகுந்த ஆசீர்வாதம் பெருகும்.
26 [Every man] shall kiss [his] lips that giveth a right answer.
நேர்மையான பதில் உதடுகளில் கொடுக்கும் முத்தத்தைப் போலிருக்கும்.
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
உன் வெளிவேலைகளை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தி, உன் வயல்வெளிகளை ஆயத்தப்படுத்து; அதின்பின், உனது வீட்டைக் கட்டு.
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive [not] with thy lips.
காரணமின்றி உன் அயலானுக்கு விரோதமாக சாட்சி கூறாதே; பொய்களை சொல்ல உன் உதடுகளை நீ பயன்படுத்தலாமா?
29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
“அவன் எனக்குச் செய்ததுபோல நானும் அவனுக்குச் செய்வேன்” என்றோ, “அவன் செய்ததற்குத் தக்கதாக நானும் அவனைத் தண்டிப்பேன்” என்றோ நீ ஒருபோதும் சொல்லாதே.
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
நான் சோம்பேறியின் வயலைக் கடந்து சென்றேன்; புத்தியில்லாதவனின் திராட்சைத் தோட்டத்தையும் கடந்து சென்றேன்;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, [and] nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
அதெல்லாம் முள்ளுக்காடாக இருந்தது; தரையெங்கும் களைகள் நிறைந்திருந்தன, தோட்டத்தின் கற்சுவரும் இடிந்து கிடந்தது.
32 Then I saw, [and] considered [it] well: I looked upon [it, and] received instruction.
நான் பார்த்ததை என் இருதயத்தில் சிந்தித்தேன்; அப்பொழுது நான் கண்டதிலிருந்து ஒரு பாடத்தைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டேன்:
33 [Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
கொஞ்சம் நித்திரை செய்வேன், கொஞ்சம் தூங்குவேன், கொஞ்சம் என் கைகளை மடித்து ஓய்வெடுப்பேன் என்பாயானால்,
34 So shall thy poverty come [as] one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
வறுமை கொள்ளைக்காரனைப்போல் உன்மேல் வரும்; பற்றாக்குறை ஆயுதம் தாங்கிய முரடனைப்போல உன்னைத் தாக்கும்.
