Proverbs 22
1 A [good] name [is] rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favour rather than silver and gold.
൧അനവധി സമ്പത്തിനെക്കാൾ സൽക്കീർത്തിയും വെള്ളിയേക്കാളും പൊന്നിനെക്കാളും കൃപയും ഏറെ നല്ലത്.
2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD [is] the maker of them all.
൨ധനവാനും ദരിദ്രനും തമ്മിൽ കാണുന്നു; അവരുടെ സ്രഷ്ടാവ് യഹോവ തന്നെ.
3 A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
൩വിവേകമുള്ളവൻ അനർത്ഥം കണ്ട് ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു; അല്പബുദ്ധികൾ നേരെ ചെന്ന് അനർത്ഥത്തിൽ അകപ്പെടുന്നു.
4 By humility [and] the fear of the LORD [are] riches, and honour, and life.
൪താഴ്മയ്ക്കും യഹോവാഭക്തിക്കും ഉള്ള പ്രതിഫലം ധനവും മാനവും ജീവനും ആകുന്നു.
5 Thorns [and] snares [are] in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
൫വക്രന്റെ വഴിയിൽ മുള്ളും കെണിയും ഉണ്ട്; തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവൻ അവയോട് അകന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
൬ബാലൻ നടക്കേണ്ട വഴിയിൽ അവനെ അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്കുക; അവൻ വൃദ്ധനായാലും അത് വിട്ടുമാറുകയില്ല.
7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower [is] servant to the lender.
൭ധനവാൻ ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ ഭരിക്കുന്നു; കടം മേടിക്കുന്നവൻ കടം കൊടുക്കുന്നവന് ദാസൻ.
8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
൮നീതികേട് വിതയ്ക്കുന്നവൻ ആപത്ത് കൊയ്യും; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ വടി വിഫലമാകും.
9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
൯ദയാകടാക്ഷമുള്ളവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും; കാരണം അവൻ തന്റെ ആഹാരത്തിൽനിന്ന് അഗതിക്ക് കൊടുക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
൧൦പരിഹാസിയെ നീക്കിക്കളയുക; അപ്പോൾ പിണക്കം ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും; കലഹവും നിന്ദയും നിന്നുപോകും.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] his friend.
൧൧ഹൃദയശുദ്ധി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന് അധരലാവണ്യം ഉണ്ട്; രാജാവ് അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ.
12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
൧൨യഹോവയുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവനെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദ്രോഹികളുടെ വാക്ക് അവിടുന്ന് മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.
13 The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
൧൩“വെളിയിൽ സിംഹം ഉണ്ട്, വീഥിയിൽ എനിക്ക് ജീവഹാനി വരും” എന്ന് മടിയൻ പറയുന്നു.
14 The mouth of strange women [is] a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
൧൪പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ വായ് ആഴമുള്ള കുഴി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയാൽ ത്യജിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ അതിൽ വീഴും.
15 Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
൧൫ബാലന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോട് ഭോഷത്തം പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ശിക്ഷയ്ക്കുള്ള വടി അതിനെ അവനിൽനിന്ന് അകറ്റിക്കളയും.
16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [riches, and] he that giveth to the rich, [shall] surely [come] to want.
൧൬ആദായം ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതിന് എളിയവനെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനും ധനവാനു കൊടുക്കുന്നവനും ദരിദ്രനായിത്തീരും.
17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
൧൭ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ വചനങ്ങൾ ചെവിചായിച്ച് കേൾക്കുക; എന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന് മനസ്സുവയ്ക്കുക.
18 For [it is] a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
൧൮അവയെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ അവ ഉറച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും മനോഹരം.
19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
൧൯നിന്റെ ആശ്രയം യഹോവയിൽ ആയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് ഞാൻ ഇന്ന് നിന്നോട്, നിന്നോട് തന്നെ, ഉപദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
൨൦നിന്നെ അയച്ചവർക്ക് നീ നേരുള്ള മറുപടി നൽകുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം നിനക്ക് നേരുള്ള മറുപടിയുടെ നിശ്ചയം അറിയിച്ചുതരുവാൻ
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
൨൧ആലോചനയും പരിജ്ഞാനവും അടങ്ങിയ ഉത്തമവാക്യങ്ങൾ ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് എഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.
22 Rob not the poor, because he [is] poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
൨൨എളിയവനോട് അവൻ എളിയവനാകുകകൊണ്ട് കവർച്ച ചെയ്യരുത്; അരിഷ്ടനെ പടിവാതില്ക്കൽവച്ചു പീഡിപ്പിക്കുകയും അരുത്.
23 For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
൨൩യഹോവ അവരുടെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തും; അവരെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടവരുടെ ജീവനെ കൊള്ളയിടും.
24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
൨൪കോപശീലനോടു സഖിത്വമരുത്; ക്രോധമുള്ള മനുഷ്യനോടുകൂടി നടക്കുകയും അരുത്.
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
൨൫നീ അവന്റെ വഴികളെ പഠിക്കുവാനും നിന്റെ പ്രാണൻ കെണിയിൽ അകപ്പെടുവാനും സംഗതിവരരുത്.
26 Be not thou [one] of them that strike hands, [or] of them that are sureties for debts.
൨൬നീ കൈയടിച്ച് ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും കടത്തിന് ജാമ്യം നില്‍ക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും ആയിപ്പോകരുത്.
27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
൨൭വീട്ടുവാൻ നിനക്ക് വകയില്ലാതെ വന്നിട്ട് നിന്റെ കീഴിൽനിന്ന് നിന്റെ മെത്ത എടുത്തുകളയുവാൻ ഇടവരുത്തുന്നത് എന്തിന്?
28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
൨൮നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പണ്ടത്തെ അതിര് നീ മാറ്റരുത്.
29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean [men].
൨൯പ്രവൃത്തിയിൽ സാമർത്ഥ്യമുള്ള പുരുഷനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവൻ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നില്ക്കും; നീചന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ അവൻ നില്‍ക്കുകയില്ല.
