< Proverbs 21 >
1 The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
Ọkàn ọba ń bẹ lọ́wọ́ Olúwa; a máa darí rẹ̀ lọ ibi tí ó fẹ́ bí ipa omi.
2 Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
Gbogbo ọ̀nà ènìyàn dàbí i pé ó dára lójú rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n, Olúwa ló ń díwọ̀n ọkàn.
3 To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Ṣíṣe ohun tí ó dára tí ó sì tọ̀nà ó ṣe ìtẹ́wọ́gbà sí Olúwa ju ẹbọ lọ.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
Ojú tí ó gbéga àti ọkàn ìgbéraga, ìmọ́lẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn búburú, ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ni!
5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
Ètè àwọn olóye jásí èrè bí ìkánjú ṣe máa ń fa òsì kíákíá.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
Ìṣúra tí a kójọ nípasẹ̀ ahọ́n tí ń parọ́ jẹ́ ìrì lásán àti ìkẹ́kùn ikú.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
Ìwà ipá àwọn ènìyàn búburú yóò wọ́ wọn lọ, nítorí wọ́n kọ̀ láti ṣe ohun tí ó tọ́.
8 The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
Ọ̀nà ẹlẹ́ṣẹ̀ kún fún ìwà ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n iṣẹ́ onínú funfun jẹ́ títọ́.
9 [It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
Ó sàn láti máa gbé ní kọ̀rọ̀ orí òrùlé ju láti ṣe àjọpín ilé pẹ̀lú aya oníjà.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
Ènìyàn búburú ń fẹ́ ibi aládùúgbò rẹ̀ kì í rí àánú kankan gbà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
Nígbà tí a bá ń fìyà jẹ ẹlẹ́gàn, òpè a máa kọ́gbọ́n, nígbà tí a bá sì kọ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n yóò ní ìmọ̀.
12 The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
Olódodo ṣàkíyèsí ilé ènìyàn búburú ó sì mú ènìyàn búburú wá sí ìparun.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá ti di etí rẹ̀ sí igbe olùpọ́njú, òun tìkára rẹ̀ yóò ké pẹ̀lú; ṣùgbọ́n a kì yóò gbọ́.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
Ọ̀rẹ́ ìkọ̀kọ̀, mú ìbínú kúrò: àti owó àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ láti ibi ìkọ̀kọ̀ wá, dẹ́kun ìbínú líle.
15 [It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
Ayọ̀ ni fún olódodo láti ṣe ìdájọ́: ṣùgbọ́n ìparun ni fún àwọn oníṣẹ́ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
Ẹni tí ó bá yà kúrò ní ọ̀nà òye, yóò máa gbé inú ìjọ àwọn òkú.
17 He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
Ẹni tí ó bá fẹ́ afẹ́, yóò di tálákà: ẹni tí ó fẹ́ ọtí wáìnì pẹ̀lú òróró kò le lọ́rọ̀.
18 The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
Ènìyàn búburú ni yóò ṣe owó ìràpadà fún olódodo, àti olùrékọjá fún ẹni dídúró ṣinṣin.
19 [It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
Ó sàn láti jókòó ní aginjù ju pẹ̀lú oníjà obìnrin àti òṣónú lọ.
20 [There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Ìṣúra iyebíye àti òróró wà ní ibùgbé ọlọ́gbọ́n; ṣùgbọ́n òmùgọ̀ ènìyàn n bà á jẹ́.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
Ẹni tí ó bá tẹ̀lé òdodo àti àánú yóò rí ìyè, òdodo, àti ọlá.
22 A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
Ọlọ́gbọ́n gòkè odi ìlú àwọn alágbára, ó sì bi ibi gíga agbára ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé wọn ṣubú.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá pa ẹnu àti ahọ́n rẹ̀ mọ́, ó pa ọkàn rẹ̀ mọ́ kúrò nínú ìyọnu.
24 Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
Agbéraga àti alágídí ènìyàn ń gan orúkọ ara rẹ̀ nítorí ó ń hùwà nínú ìwà ìgbéraga rẹ̀, àti nínú ìbínú púpọ̀púpọ̀.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
Ẹlẹ́rìí èké yóò ṣègbé, àwọn tí ó gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ yóò parun láé; nítorí tí ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kọ iṣẹ́ ṣíṣe.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
Ó ń fi ìlara ṣe ojúkòkòrò ní gbogbo ọjọ́: ṣùgbọ́n olódodo a máa fi fún ni kì í sì í dáwọ́ dúró.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
Ẹbọ ènìyàn búburú, ìríra ni: mélòó mélòó ni nígbà tí ó mú un wá pẹ̀lú èrò ìwà ibi?
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
Ẹlẹ́rìí èké yóò ṣègbé: ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ ẹni tí ó gbọ́, yóò dúró.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
Ènìyàn búburú mú ojú ara rẹ̀ le: ṣùgbọ́n ẹni ìdúró ṣinṣin ni ó ń mú ọ̀nà rẹ̀ tọ́.
30 [There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
Kò sí ọgbọ́n, kò sí ìmòye, tàbí ìmọ̀ràn tí ó le mókè níwájú Olúwa.
31 The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
A ń múra ẹṣin sílẹ̀ de ọjọ́ ogun: ṣùgbọ́n ìṣẹ́gun jẹ́ ti Olúwa.
