Proverbs 21
1 The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
१राजाचे मन पाण्याच्या प्रवाहासारखे परमेश्वराच्या हातात आहे; तो त्यास वाटेल तेथे वळवतो.
2 Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
२प्रत्येक मनुष्याचे मार्ग त्याच्या दृष्टीने योग्य असतात, परंतु परमेश्वर अंतःकरणे तोलून पाहतो.
3 To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
३योग्य व न्याय करणे हे यज्ञापेक्षा परमेश्वरास अधिक मान्य आहेत.
4 An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
४घमेंडखोर दृष्टी व गर्विष्ठ मन दुर्जनांच्या शेतातील उपज हे पाप उत्पन्न करतात.
5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
५परीश्रमपूर्वक केलेल्या योजनांमुळे भरभराट होते, परंतु जो घाईघाईने कृती करतो तो केवळ दरिद्री होतो.
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
६लबाड जिव्हेने मिळवलेली संपत्ती ही वाफेसारखी क्षणभंगुर आहे ती मरण शोधते.
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
७दुष्टांचा बलात्कार त्यांना झाडून टाकील, कारण ते न्याय करण्याचे नाकारतात.
8 The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
८अपराधी मनुष्याचा मार्ग वाकडा असतो, पण जो शुद्ध आहे तो योग्य करतो.
9 [It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
९भांडखोर पत्नीबरोबर मोठ्या घरात राहाण्यापेक्षा, धाब्याच्या कोपऱ्यात राहणे अधिक चांगले.
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
१०दुष्टाचा जीव वाईटाची हाव धरतो; त्याच्या शेजाऱ्याला तो दया दाखवत नाही.
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
११जेव्हा निंदकास शासन होते तेव्हा अज्ञानी शहाणे होतात; आणि जेव्हा सुज्ञास शिक्षण मिळते तेव्हा त्याच्या ज्ञानात वाढ होते.
12 The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
१२नीतिमान दुष्टाच्या घराकडे लक्ष लावतो, तो दुष्टांचा नाश करण्यासाठी त्यांना उलथून टाकतो.
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
१३जो कोणी गरिबाची आरोळी ऐकत नाही, तोही आरोळी करील, पण कोणी ऐकणार नाही.
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
१४गुप्तपणे दिलेली देणगी राग शांत करते, आणि दडवलेली देणगी तीव्र कोप दूर करते.
15 [It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
१५योग्य न्यायाने नीतिमानाला आनंद होतो. पण तोच दुष्कर्म करणाऱ्यांवर फार मोठी भीती आणतो.
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
१६जो कोणी ज्ञानाच्या मार्गापासून भटकतो, त्यास मरण पावलेल्यांच्या मंडळीत विसावा मिळेल.
17 He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
१७ज्याला ख्यालीखुशाली प्रिय आहे तो दरिद्री होतो; ज्याला द्राक्षरस आणि तेल प्रिय आहे तो श्रीमंत होणार नाही.
18 The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
१८जो कोणी चांगले करतो त्याची खंडणी दुर्जन आहे, आणि सरळांचा मोबदला विश्वासघातकी असतो.
19 [It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
१९भांडखोर आणि खूप तक्रार करून अशांती निर्माण करणाऱ्या पत्नीबरोबर राहाण्यापेक्षा वाळवंटात राहाणे अधिक चांगले.
20 [There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
२०सुज्ञाच्या घरात मोलवान खजिना आणि तेल आहेत, पण मूर्ख मनुष्य ते वाया घालवतो.
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
२१जो कोणी नीतिमत्ता आणि दया करतो, त्यास आयुष्य, उन्नती आणि मान मिळेल.
22 A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
२२सुज्ञ मनुष्य बलवानांच्या नगराविरूद्ध चढतो, आणि तो त्यांच्या संरक्षणाचा आश्रयदुर्ग पाडून टाकतो.
23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
२३जो कोणी आपले तोंड व जीभ सांभाळतो, तो संकटापासून आपला जीव वाचवतो.
24 Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
२४गर्विष्ठ व घमेंडखोर मनुष्यास उद्दाम असे नाव आहे. तो गर्वाने उद्धट कृती करतो.
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
२५आळशाची वासना त्यास मारून टाकते; त्याचे हात काम करण्यास नकार देतात.
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
२६तो सर्व दिवस हाव आणि अधिक हाव धरतो, परंतु नीतिमान देतो आणि मागे धरून ठेवत नाही.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
२७दुर्जनांचे यज्ञार्पण वीट आणणारे असते, तर मग तो यज्ञ दुष्ट हेतूने आणतो ते किती अधिक वीट असे आहे.
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
२८खोटा साक्षीदार नाश पावेल, पण जो कोणी ऐकतो त्याप्रमाणे सर्व वेळ तसे बोलतो.
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
२९दुष्ट मनुष्य आपले मुख धीट करतो, पण सरळ मनुष्य आपल्या मार्गाचा नीट विचार करतो.
30 [There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
३०परमेश्वराविरूद्ध शहाणपण, बुद्धि किंवा युक्ती ही मुळीच उभी राहू शकत नाहीत.
31 The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
३१लढाईच्या दिवसासाठी घोडा तयार करतात, पण तारण परमेश्वराकडून आहे.
