Proverbs 17
1 Better [is] a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices [with] strife.
১বিবাদযুক্ত ভোজেৰে সৈতে পৰিপূৰ্ণ হোৱা ঘৰতকৈ, শান্তিৰে সৈতে শুদাই এগৰাহ খোৱাই ভাল।
2 A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.
২এজন জ্ঞানী দাসে লাজ দিওঁতা পুত্ৰৰ ওপৰত শাসন কৰিব, আৰু ভায়েকসকলৰ এজন যেন হৈ উত্তৰাধিকাৰ ভগাই লব।
3 The fining pot [is] for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
৩ৰূপৰ কাৰণে ধাতু গলোৱা পাত্ৰ, আৰু সোণৰ কাৰণে ভাতী, কিন্তু যিহোৱাই হৃদয় শোধন কৰে।
4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; [and] a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.
৪যি লোকে কুকৰ্ম কৰে, তেওঁ নীতিহীন কথা কোৱাসকলৰ কথা শুনে, আৰু মিছলীয়াই বেয়া বিষয়ৰ কথা কওতা জনলৈ মনোযোগ দিয়ে।
5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: [and] he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
৫দৰিদ্ৰক পৰিহাস কৰা জনে তেওঁৰ স্ৰজনকৰ্ত্তাকে অপমান কৰে; আৰু যি জনে দুৰ্ভাগ্যত আনন্দ কৰে, তেওঁ দণ্ড নোপোৱাকৈ নাথাকিব।
6 Children’s children [are] the crown of old men; and the glory of children [are] their fathers.
৬বৃদ্ধসকলৰ নাতি নাতিনী তেওঁলোকৰ কিৰীটি স্বৰূপ; আৰু পিতৃসকল তেওঁলোকৰ নিজৰ সন্তানৰ গৌৰৱ স্বৰূপ।
7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
৭বাকপটু ওঁঠ মুৰ্খৰ কাৰণে উপযোগী নহয়; তেন্তে তাতকৈ কিমান কম পৰিমাণে মিছলীয়া ওঁঠ ৰাজভক্ত ব্যক্তিৰ উপযোগী হয়।
8 A gift [is as] a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.
৮দিয়া জনৰ বাবে ভেঁটি যাদুৰ পাথৰৰ দৰে; যি ফালেই তেওঁ যায়, সেই ফালেই তেওঁ সফল হয়।
9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth [very] friends.
৯যি জনে অপৰাধ ঢাকে, তেওঁ প্ৰেমৰ চেষ্টা কৰে; কিন্তু যি কোনোৱে একে বিষয় বাৰে বাৰে কৈ থাকে, তেওঁ প্ৰণয়ৰ বন্ধুৰ বিচ্ছেদ জন্মায়।
10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.
১০যি দৰে মূৰ্খৰ ওপৰত এশ কোবে কাম কৰে, সেই দৰে সুবিবেচকৰ মনলৈ অনুযোগ গভীৰ ভাবে সোমায়।
11 An evil [man] seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
১১দুষ্ট লোকে কেৱল বিদ্ৰোহৰ চেষ্টা কৰে; সেয়ে নিষ্ঠুৰ বাৰ্ত্তাবাহকক তেওঁৰ বিপক্ষে পঠোৱা হ’ব।
12 Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
১২নিজৰ অজ্ঞানতাত মগ্ন হোৱা অজ্ঞানী লোকৰ লগত সাক্ষাৎ হোৱাতকৈ, পোৱালি আজুৰি নিয়া ভালুকৰ লগত সাক্ষাৎ হোৱাই ভাল।
13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
১৩যেতিয়া কোনো এজনে উপকাৰৰ সলনি অপকাৰ কৰে, তেতিয়া অপকাৰে তেওঁৰ ঘৰ পৰিত্যাগ নকৰে।
14 The beginning of strife [is as] when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
১৪বিবাদৰ আৰম্ভণি কোনো এজনে পানী চাৰিওফালে এৰি দিয়াৰ দৰে; এই হেতুকে দন্দ্ব-কাজিয়া নোহোৱাৰ আগতেই বিবাদৰ পৰা আঁতৰি থাকা।
15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both [are] abomination to the LORD.
১৫যি জনে দুষ্টক নিৰ্দোষী কৰে, আৰু ধাৰ্মিকক দোষী কৰে, তেওঁলোক দুয়ো সমানে যিহোৱাৰ ঘিণলগীয়া।
16 Wherefore [is there] a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing [he hath] no heart [to it]?
১৬যিহেতু অজ্ঞানী লোকৰ শিক্ষা গ্রহণ কৰাৰ দক্ষতা নাই সেয়ে তেওঁ প্ৰজ্ঞা আহৰণ কৰিবলৈ কিয় ধন খৰচ কৰিব?
17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
১৭বন্ধু সকলো সময়তে প্রিয় হয়; আৰু ভায়েকৰ দুৰ্দ্দশাৰ দিনৰ বাবে জন্ম হয়।
18 A man void of understanding striketh hands, [and] becometh surety in the presence of his friend.
১৮জ্ঞানশূন্য লোকে প্রতিজ্ঞাত আৱদ্ধ হয়; আৰু চুবুৰীয়াৰ ধাৰৰ দ্বায়ীত্ব লয়।
19 He loveth transgression that loveth strife: [and] he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.
১৯যিজনে বিবাদ ভাল পায়, তেওঁ পাপ ভাল পায়; যি কোনোৱে নিজৰ প্রবেশ দুৱাৰ ওখ কৰে, তেওঁ বিনাশৰ চেষ্টা কৰে।
20 He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.
২০কুটিল মনৰ লোকে কোনো বিষয়তে মঙ্গল বিচাৰি নাপায়; যিজনে মিছা কথা কয়, তেওঁ বিপদত পৰে।
21 He that begetteth a fool [doeth it] to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.
২১যিজনে অজ্ঞানীক জন্ম দিয়ে, তেওঁ নিজলৈ খেদ আনে; আৰু অজ্ঞানীৰ পিতৃয়ে আনন্দ কৰিব নোৱাৰে।
22 A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
২২আনন্দিত হৃদয় ভাল ঔষধ হয়; কিন্তু ভগ্ন হৃদয়ে হাড়বোৰ শুকুৱায়।
23 A wicked [man] taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
২৩ন্যায়ৰ পথ বিপথগামী কৰিবলৈ দুষ্টলোকে গুপুতে দিয়া ভেঁটি গ্ৰহণ কৰে।
24 Wisdom [is] before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool [are] in the ends of the earth.
২৪যিজনৰ সুবিবেচনা থাকে, তেওঁ প্রজ্ঞাৰ সন্মুখত থাকে; কিন্তু অজ্ঞানী লোকৰ চকু পৃথিবীৰ অন্তত থাকে।
25 A foolish son [is] a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
২৫অজ্ঞানী পুত্ৰই তেওঁৰ পিতৃক বেজাৰ দিয়ে, আৰু তেওঁক জন্ম দিয়া মহিলাৰ কাৰণে তেওঁ দুখ দায়ক।
26 Also to punish the just [is] not good, [nor] to strike princes for equity.
২৬ন্যায় কৰা জনক শাস্তি দিয়া অনুচিত; আৰু সাধুলোকক তেওঁৰ সৰলতাৰ বাবে প্ৰহাৰ কৰা ভাল নহয়।
27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: [and] a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
২৭জ্ঞানী লোকে ক’ম কথা কয়; আৰু ধীৰ মনৰ লোক বিবেচক।
28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: [and] he that shutteth his lips [is esteemed] a man of understanding.
২৮এনেকি অজ্ঞানী লোকে নিমাতে থাকিলে জ্ঞানী বুলি ভবা যায়; তেওঁ যেতিয়া মুখ বন্ধ কৰি ৰাখে, তেতিয়া তেওঁ বুধিয়ক বুলি গণিত হয়।
