Proverbs 16
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, [is] from the LORD.
੧ਮਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨੋ ਉੱਤਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
2 All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
੨ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਚਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੁੱਧ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਚਦਾ ਹੈ।
3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
੩ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ।
4 The LORD hath made all [things] for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
੪ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮਕਸਦ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ, ਹਾਂ, ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਲਈ ਬਣਾਇਆ।
5 Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
੫ਹਰੇਕ ਜਿਹ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਣ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਛੁੱਟਣਗੇ।
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD [men] depart from evil.
੬ਦਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਧਰਮ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੋਕ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
੭ਜਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਚਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਕਰਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
8 Better [is] a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
੮ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਥੋੜਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਲਾਭ ਬੇਇਮਾਨੀ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਆਮਦਨੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
9 A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
੯ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠਹਿਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
10 A divine sentence [is] in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
੧੦ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋਂ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਬਚਨ ਨਿੱਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਭੁੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
11 A just weight and balance [are] the LORD’s: all the weights of the bag [are] his work.
੧੧ਸੱਚੀ ਤੱਕੜੀ ਦੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁੱਥਲੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਓਸੇ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹਨ।
12 [It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
੧੨ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰਨੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਲਈ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਦੀ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾਓ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
੧੩ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਿੱਧੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
14 The wrath of a king [is as] messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
੧੪ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਠੰਡਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
15 In the light of the king’s countenance [is] life; and his favour [is] as a cloud of the latter rain.
੧੫ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਚਮਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਬਰਸਾਤ ਦੀ ਆਖਰੀ ਬੱਦਲੀ ਵਰਗੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
16 How much better [is it] to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
੧੬ਬੁੱਧ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਚੋਖੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਸਮਝ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚੁਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
17 The highway of the upright [is] to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
੧੭ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ ਮਾਰਗ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਚਾਲ ਦੀ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
੧੮ਨਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਘਮੰਡੀ ਰੂਹ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
19 Better [it is to be] of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
੧੯ਘਮੰਡੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੁੱਟ ਦਾ ਮਾਲ ਵੰਡਣ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੰਗਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy [is] he.
੨੦ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਚਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਨ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਧੰਨ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ!
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
੨੧ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬੋਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਖਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
22 Understanding [is] a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools [is] folly.
੨੨ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬੁੱਧ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸੋਤਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਉਣਾ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
੨੩ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਿਆਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
24 Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
੨੪ਮਨਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਦੇ ਛੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਹਤ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.
੨੫ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਰਾਹ ਵੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੌਤ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
੨੬ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਭਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips [there is] as a burning fire.
੨੭ਕੁਧਰਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਯੋਜਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣੋ ਸਾੜਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅੱਗ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
੨੮ਟੇਢਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਝਗੜੇ ਚੁੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਚੁਗਲੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਾਨੀ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੁੱਟ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way [that is] not good.
੨੯ਹਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਨੂੰ ਫੁਸਲਾ ਕੇ, ਭੈੜੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
੩੦ਅੱਖੀਆਂ ਮਟਕਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਟੇਢੇ ਕੰਮ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਘੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰ ਛੱਡਦਾ ਹੈ।
31 The hoary head [is] a crown of glory, [if] it be found in the way of righteousness.
੩੧ਧੌਲਾ ਸਿਰ ਸਜਾਵਟ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਟ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
32 [He that is] slow to anger [is] better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
੩੨ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਧੀਮਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਰੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਜਿੱਤਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ।
33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof [is] of the LORD.
੩੩ਬੁੱਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਚੀਆਂ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
