Proverbs 14
1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
१सुज्ञ स्त्री आपले घर बांधते, पण मूर्ख स्त्री आपल्या स्वतःच्या हाताने ते खाली पाडते.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but [he that is] perverse in his ways despiseth him.
२जो सरळपणे चालतो तो परमेश्वराचे भय धरतो, पण जो कोणी आपल्या मार्गात अप्रामाणिक आहे तो त्यास तुच्छ मानतो.
3 In the mouth of the foolish [is] a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
३मूर्खाच्या मुखातून त्याच्या गर्वाची काठी निघते, पण सुज्ञाची वाणी त्याची जोपासना करते.
4 Where no oxen [are], the crib [is] clean: but much increase [is] by the strength of the ox.
४गुरेढोरे नसले तर गोठा स्वच्छ राहतो, पण बैलाच्या बलाने विपुल पिक येऊ शकते.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
५विश्वासू साक्षीदार खोटे बोलत नाही, पण खोटा साक्षीदार मुखाने लबाड्या करतो.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and [findeth it] not: but knowledge [is] easy unto him that understandeth.
६निंदक ज्ञानाचा शोध करतो आणि काहीच मिळत नाही, पण जो कोणी बुद्धिमान आहे त्यास ज्ञान मिळवणे सोपे आहे.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not [in him] the lips of knowledge.
७मूर्ख मनुष्यापासून दूर जा, कारण त्याच्या वाणीत तुला काही ज्ञान सापडणार नाही.
8 The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way: but the folly of fools [is] deceit.
८शहाण्याने आपले मार्ग समजणे यामध्ये त्याची सुज्ञता आहे, परंतु मूर्खाचे मूर्खपण कपट आहे.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous [there is] favour.
९मूर्खाला पापार्पणाचे अर्पण थट्टा वाटते, पण सरळांमध्ये परस्पर कृपा असते.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
१०हृदयाला आपल्या स्वतःच्या खेदाची जाणीव असते, आणि त्याच्या आनंदात परक्याला भाग नाही.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
११दुष्टाच्या घराचा नाश होईल, पण सरळांच्या तंबूची भरभराट होईल.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.
१२मनुष्यास एक मार्ग बरोबर आहे असे वाटते, पण त्याचा शेवट फक्त मरणाकडे नेतो.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth [is] heaviness.
१३हृदय हसू शकते पण तरी त्यामध्ये वेदना असतात, आणि आनंदाचा शेवट शोकात होतो.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man [shall be satisfied] from himself.
१४जो कोणी अविश्वासू आहे त्यास त्याच्या वागणुकीचे फळ मिळेल, पण चांगल्या मनुष्यास जे काही त्याचे आहे तेच मिळेल.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent [man] looketh well to his going.
१५भोळा प्रत्येक गोष्टीवर विश्वास ठेवतो, पण शहाणा मनुष्य आपल्या पावलांविषयी विचार करतो.
16 A wise [man] feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
१६शहाणा मनुष्य भय धरतो आणि वाईटापासून दूर राहतो, पण मूर्ख धिटाईने इशारा विचारात घेत नाही.
17 [He that is] soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
१७शीघ्रकोपी मूर्खासारख्या गोष्टी करतो, आणि जो वाईट योजना करतो त्या मनुष्याचा द्वेष होतो.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
१८भोळ्यांना मूर्खपणाचे वतन मिळते, पण शहाणे ज्ञानाने वेढलेले असतात.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
१९दुर्जन सज्जनापुढे नमतात, आणि नीतिमानाच्या दारापुढे दुष्ट नमतील.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich [hath] many friends.
२०गरीब मनुष्याचे स्वतःचे सोबतीसुद्धा द्वेष करतात, पण श्रीमंताला खूप मित्र असतात.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy [is] he.
२१जो कोणी आपल्या शेजाऱ्याचा तिरस्कार करतो तो पापी आहे, परंतु जो कोणी गरीबावर दया दाखवतो तो आनंदी आहे.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth [shall be] to them that devise good.
२२जो दुष्ट योजना आखतो तो चुकीच्या मार्गाने जात नाही का? पण जो कोणी चांगले करण्याची योजना करतो, तो कराराचा विश्वास आणि विश्वसनियता स्वीकारतो.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.
२३सर्व कष्टात फायदा आहे, पण जेव्हा तेथे फक्त बोलतच राहिलात, ते दारिद्र्याकडे घेऊन जाईल.
24 The crown of the wise [is] their riches: [but] the foolishness of fools [is] folly.
२४शहाण्याची संपत्ती त्याचा मुकुट आहे, पण मूर्खांची मूर्खता केवळ मूर्खताच आणते.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful [witness] speaketh lies.
२५खरा साक्षी जीव वाचवतो, पण खोटा साक्षीदार लबाड्या करतो तो दगलबाज आहे.
26 In the fear of the LORD [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
२६परमेश्वराच्या भयात दृढ विश्वास आहे, आणि त्याच्या मुलांसाठी ती आश्रयस्थान आहेत.
27 The fear of the LORD [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
२७परमेश्वराचे भय जीवनाचा झरा आहे, याकरिता त्यांनी मरणाच्या जाळ्यापासून दूर रहावे.
28 In the multitude of people [is] the king’s honour: but in the want of people [is] the destruction of the prince.
२८प्रजावृद्धित राजाचे गौरव सापडते, पण प्रजेशिवाय राजपुत्राचा नाश आहे.
29 [He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
२९सहनशील मनुष्य खूप समजदार असतो, पण शीघ्रकोपी मूर्खता उंचावतो.
30 A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
३०शांत अंतःकरण देहाचे जीवन आहे, पण मत्सराने हाडे कुजतात.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
३१जो मनुष्य गरीबांवर जुलूम करतो तो त्याच्या निर्माणकर्त्याला शाप देतो, परंतु जो गरजवंतावर दया करतो तो त्याचा सन्मान करतो.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
३२दुष्ट आपल्या वाईट कृतीने खाली आणला जातो, पण नीतिमानाला मरणाच्या वेळेसही आश्रय मिळतो.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but [that which is] in the midst of fools is made known.
३३बुद्धिमानाच्या अंतःकरणात ज्ञान स्थिर असते, पण मूर्खाच्या अंतर्यामात जे असते ते कळून येते.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any people.
३४योग्य ते केल्याने राष्ट्राची उन्नती होते, पण पाप लोकांस कलंक आहे.
35 The king’s favour [is] toward a wise servant: but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
३५शहाणपणाने वागणाऱ्या सेवकावर राजाची मर्जी असते, पण जो लज्जास्पद कृत्य करतो त्याच्यासाठी त्याचा राग आहे.
