< Proverbs 14 >

1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Palungha nongpata loe a ohhaih im to sak; toe kamthu nongpata loe a im to a phraek.
2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but [he that is] perverse in his ways despiseth him.
Angraeng zii kami loe katoeng loklam ah caeh; toe loklam amkhraeng kami loe Angraeng to khet patoek tihhaih ih ni.
3 In the mouth of the foolish [is] a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
Kamthu ih pakha loe amoekhaih quiboeng ah oh; toe palungha kami ih pahni mah loe nihcae to pahlong tih.
4 Where no oxen [are], the crib [is] clean: but much increase [is] by the strength of the ox.
Maitaw om ai ahmuen ih maitaw okduk loe cai pin; toe maitaw ih tha hoiah cang to a hak mangh.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Oep kaom hnukung loe kaminawk to aling ai; toe amsawn hnukung loe lok amlai.
6 A scorner seeketh wisdom, and [findeth it] not: but knowledge [is] easy unto him that understandeth.
Minawk hnaphnae kami loe palunghahaih to pakrong, toe hnu ai; toe panoekhaih tawn kami hanah loe palungha zoidaek.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not [in him] the lips of knowledge.
Anih ih pahni ah palunghahaih om ai tiah na panoek nahaeloe, kamthu to om taak duem ah.
8 The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way: but the folly of fools [is] deceit.
Palungha kami loe a caehhaih loklam to palunghahaih hoiah poek; toe kamthu ih amthuhaih loe alinghaih ah oh.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous [there is] favour.
Kamthu loe zaehaih to tiah doeh sah ai; toe katoeng kaminawk khaeah loe tahmenhaih to oh.
10 The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
Palung mah palungsethaih to panoek; mi mah doeh angmah anghoehaih to minawk han paek thai ai.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
Kasae kami ih im loe amro tih; toe katoeng kami ih kahni im loe aquih tacawt tih.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.
Kami maeto khaeah katoeng loklam maeto baktiah amtueng pae; toe boenghaih ah loe duekhaih loklam ah oh.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth [is] heaviness.
Palungsethaih amtueng han ai ah pahnui kami doeh om tih; anghoehaih doeh palungsethaih hoiah boeng thaih.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man [shall be satisfied] from himself.
Hnuk angnawn kami loe a tok sakhaih atho to hnu tih; toe kahoih kami loe a sak ih hmuen baktih toengah tangqum to hnu tih.
15 The simple believeth every word: but the prudent [man] looketh well to his going.
Poek tawn ai kami loe minawk mah thuih ih loknawk boih to tang; toe palungha kami loe a caehhaih loklam to kahoih ah poek.
16 A wise [man] feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
Palungha kami loe Angraeng to zit moe, sethaih to cawn taak; toe kamthu loe poekham moe misahoih.
17 [He that is] soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
Poek amthueng kami loe amthuhaih hoiah toksak; kahoih ai hmuen sak pacaeng kami loe minawk mah hnuma tih.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Poekhaih tawn ai kami loe amthuhaih to qawk ah toep; toe palungha kaminawk loe palunghahaih lumuek to angmuek o.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Kahoih ai kami loe katoeng kami hmaa ah angam sut tih; kasae kami doeh katoeng kami ih khongkha taengah angam sut tih.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich [hath] many friends.
Amtang kami loe a imtaeng kami mah doeh hnukma; toe angraeng loe ampui tawn mangh.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy [is] he.
Kami zae loe a imtaeng kami to khet patoek; toe kamtang tahmen kami loe tahamhoih.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth [shall be] to them that devise good.
Sethaih poek kaminawk loe loklam caeh pazae o boeh na ai maw? Toe kahoih hmuen poek kaminawk loe amlunghaih hoi oepthohhaih to hnuk o.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips [tendeth] only to penury.
Toksakhaih boih ah toksakhaih atho to oh; toe lok khue thui kami loe amtang tih.
24 The crown of the wise [is] their riches: [but] the foolishness of fools [is] folly.
Palungha kaminawk ih angraenghaih loe angmacae ih sui lumuek ah oh; toe kamthunawk amthuhaih mah loe amthuhaih to tacawtsak aep.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful [witness] speaketh lies.
Tangtang hnukung mah loe hinghaih to pahlong; toe amsawn hnukung ah kaom kami loe amsawnlok to thuih.
26 In the fear of the LORD [is] strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Angraeng zii kami loe kacak oephaih to tawn ueloe, a caanawk abuephaih ahmuen doeh tawn tih.
27 The fear of the LORD [is] a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Angraeng zithaih loe hinghaih tuipuek ah oh moe, duekhaih dongh thung hoiah loisakkung ah oh.
28 In the multitude of people [is] the king’s honour: but in the want of people [is] the destruction of the prince.
Kami pop prae thungah loe siangpahrang lensawkhaih to cak; toe kami tamsi prae ah loe siangpahrang amrohaih ah oh.
29 [He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Panoekhaih kathuk kami loe palungsawk; toe poek amthueng kami loe amthuhaih to amtuengsak.
30 A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Poekhoih palung mah taksa to ngantuisak; toe uthaih mah loe huhong to hmawnsak.
31 He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
Kamtang pacaekthlaek kami loe angmah Sahkung to ni pacaekthlaek; toe Sithaw khingya kami loe kamtang nuiah palungnathaih to tawnh.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
Kasae kami loe a sethaih mah kraksak tathuk; toe katoeng kami loe duek naah doeh oephaih to tawnh.
33 Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but [that which is] in the midst of fools is made known.
Palungha kami ih palung thungah palunghahaih to oh; toe kamthu ih palung thungah kaom hmuen loe amtueng phaeng.
34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin [is] a reproach to any people.
Toenghaih mah prae kaminawk to sangsak tahang; toe zaehaih loe kami boih kasaethuihaih ah oh.
35 The king’s favour [is] toward a wise servant: but his wrath is [against] him that causeth shame.
Siangpahrang loe palungha tamna nuiah anghoe; toe azatsak thaih tamna loe angraeng to palungphuisak.
