Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof [is] brutish.
૧જે કોઈ માણસ શિખામણ ચાહે છે તે વિદ્યા પણ ચાહે છે, પણ જે વ્યક્તિ ઠપકાને ધિક્કારે છે તે પશુ જેવો છે.
2 A good [man] obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
૨સારો માણસ યહોવાહની કૃપા મેળવે છે, પણ કુયુક્તિખોર માણસને તે દોષપાત્ર ઠેરવશે.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
૩માણસ દુષ્ટતાથી સ્થિર થશે નહિ, પણ નેકીવાનની જડ કદી ઉખેડવામાં આવશે નહિ.
4 A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed [is] as rottenness in his bones.
૪સદગુણી સ્ત્રી તેના પતિને મુગટરૂપ છે, પણ નિર્લજ્જ સ્ત્રી તેનાં હાડકાને સડારૂપ છે.
5 The thoughts of the righteous [are] right: [but] the counsels of the wicked [are] deceit.
૫નેકીવાનના વિચાર ભલા હોય છે, પણ દુષ્ટોની સલાહ કપટભરી હોય છે.
6 The words of the wicked [are] to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
૬દુષ્ટની વાણી રક્તપાત કરવા વિષે હોય છે, પણ પ્રામાણિક માણસનું મુખ તેને બચાવશે.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and [are] not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
૭દુષ્ટો ઉથલી પડે છે અને હતા નહતા થઈ જાય છે, પણ સદાચારીનું ઘર કાયમ ટકી રહે છે.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
૮માણસ પોતાના ડહાપણ પ્રમાણે પ્રસંશા પામે છે, પણ જેનું હૃદય દુષ્ટ છે તે તુચ્છ ગણાશે.
9 [He that is] despised, and hath a servant, [is] better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
૯જેને અન્નની અછત હોય અને પોતાને માનવંતો માનતો હોય તેના કરતાં જે નિમ્ન ગણાતો હોય પણ તેને ચાકર હોય તો તે શ્રેષ્ઠ છે.
10 A righteous [man] regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.
૧૦ભલો માણસ પોતાના પશુના જીવની સંભાળ રાખે છે, પણ દુષ્ટ માણસની દયા ક્રૂરતા સમાન હોય છે.
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain [persons is] void of understanding.
૧૧પોતાની જમીન ખેડનારને પુષ્કળ અન્ન મળશે; પણ નકામી વાતો પાછળ દોડનાર મૂર્ખ છે.
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil [men: ] but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
૧૨દુષ્ટ માણસો ભૂંડાની લૂંટ લેવા ઇચ્છે છે, પણ સદાચારીનાં મૂળ તો ફળદ્રુપ છે.
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of [his] lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
૧૩દુષ્ટ માણસના હોઠોનાં ઉલ્લંઘનો તેઓને પોતાને માટે ફાંદો છે, પણ સદાચારીઓ સંકટમાંથી છૂટા થશે.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of [his] mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
૧૪માણસ પોતે બોલેલા શબ્દોથી સંતોષ પામશે અને તેને તેના કામનો બદલો પાછો મળશે.
15 The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel [is] wise.
૧૫મૂર્ખનો માર્ગ તેની પોતાની નજરમાં સાચો છે, પણ જ્ઞાની માણસ સારી સલાહ પર લક્ષ આપે છે.
16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
૧૬મૂર્ખ પોતાનો ગુસ્સો તરત પ્રગટ કરી દે છે, પણ ડાહ્યો માણસ અપમાન ગળી જાય છે.
17 [He that] speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
૧૭સત્ય ઉચ્ચારનાર નેકી પ્રગટ કરે છે, પણ જૂઠો સાક્ષી છેતરપિંડી કરે છે.
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.
૧૮અવિચારી વાણી તલવારની જેમ ઘા કરે છે પણ જ્ઞાની માણસની જીભના શબ્દો આરોગ્યરૂપ છે.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue [is] but for a moment.
૧૯જે હોઠ સત્ય બોલે છે તેઓ શાશ્વત રહે છે અને જૂઠા બોલી જીભ ક્ષણિક રહે છે.
20 Deceit [is] in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace [is] joy.
૨૦જેઓ ખરાબ યોજનાઓ કરે છે તેઓનાં મન કપટી છે, પણ શાંતિની સલાહ આપનાર સુખ પામે છે.
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
૨૧સદાચારીને કંઈ નુકશાન થશે નહિ, પરંતુ દુષ્ટો મુશ્કેલીઓથી ભરેલા હોય છે.
22 Lying lips [are] abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly [are] his delight.
૨૨યહોવાહ જૂઠાને ધિક્કારે છે, પણ સત્યથી વર્તનારાઓ તેમને આનંદરૂપ છે.
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
૨૩ડાહ્યો પુરુષ ડહાપણને છુપાવે છે, પણ મૂર્ખ પોતાની મૂર્ખાઈ જાહેર કરે છે.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
૨૪ઉદ્યમીનો હાથ અધિકાર ભોગવશે, પરંતુ આળસુ માણસ પાસે મજૂરી કરાવવામાં આવશે.
25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
૨૫પોતાના મનની ચિંતાઓ માણસને ગમગીન બનાવે છે, પણ માયાળુ શબ્દો તેને ખુશ કરે છે.
26 The righteous [is] more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
૨૬નેકીવાન માણસ પોતાના પડોશીને સાચો માર્ગ બતાવે છે, પણ દુષ્ટોનો માર્ગ તેને ગેરમાર્ગે દોરે છે.
27 The slothful [man] roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man [is] precious.
૨૭આળસુ માણસ પોતે કરેલો શિકાર રાંધતો નથી, પણ ઉદ્યમી માણસ થવું એ મહામૂલી સંપત્તિ મેળવવા જેવું છે.
28 In the way of righteousness [is] life; and [in] the pathway [thereof there is] no death.
૨૮નેકીના માર્ગમાં જીવન છે. અને એ માર્ગમાં મરણ છે જ નહિ.
