Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof [is] brutish.
যে শৃঙ্খলা ভালোবাসে সে জ্ঞানও ভালোবাসে, কিন্তু যে সংশোধন ঘৃণা করে সে বোকা।
2 A good [man] obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
সৎলোক সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে অনুগ্রহ লাভ করে, কিন্তু যারা দুষ্ট ফন্দি আঁটে তিনি তাদের দোষী সাব্যস্ত করেন।
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
কেউই দুষ্টতার মাধ্যমে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হতে পারে না, কিন্তু ধার্মিকদের নির্মূল করা যায় না।
4 A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed [is] as rottenness in his bones.
উদারস্বভাব বিশিষ্ট স্ত্রী তার স্বামীর মুকুট, কিন্তু মর্যাদাহানিকর স্ত্রী স্বামীর অস্থির পচনস্বরূপ।
5 The thoughts of the righteous [are] right: [but] the counsels of the wicked [are] deceit.
ধার্মিকদের পরিকল্পনাগুলি ন্যায়সংগত, কিন্তু দুষ্টদের পরামর্শ প্রতারণাপূর্ণ।
6 The words of the wicked [are] to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
দুষ্টদের কথাবার্তা রক্তপাতের জন্য লুকিয়ে থাকে, কিন্তু ন্যায়পরায়ণদের কথাবার্তা তাদের রক্ষা করে।
7 The wicked are overthrown, and [are] not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
দুষ্টেরা পর্যুদস্ত হয় ও তারা নিশ্চিহ্ন হয়ে যায়, কিন্তু ধার্মিকদের বাড়ি অটল থাকে।
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
একজন মানুষ তার দূরদর্শিতা অনুসারেই প্রশংসিত হয়, ও যার মন পক্ষপাতদুষ্ট সে অবজ্ঞাত হয়।
9 [He that is] despised, and hath a servant, [is] better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
কেউকেটা হওয়ার ভান করে নিরন্ন হয়ে থাকার চেয়ে বরং নগণ্য মানুষ হয়ে দাস রাখা ভালো।
10 A righteous [man] regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.
ধার্মিকেরা তাদের পশুদের যত্ন নেয়, কিন্তু দুষ্টদের সদয় ব্যবহারও নিষ্ঠুরতামাত্র।
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain [persons is] void of understanding.
যারা নিজেদের জমি চাষ করে তারা প্রচুর খাদ্য পাবে, কিন্তু যারা উদ্ভট কল্পনার পিছনে ছুটে বেড়ায় তাদের কোনও বোধবুদ্ধি নেই।
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil [men: ] but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
দুষ্টেরা অনিষ্টকারীদের সুরক্ষিত আশ্রয় কামনা করে, কিন্তু ধার্মিকদের মূল স্থায়ী হয়।
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of [his] lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
অনিষ্টকারীরা তাদের পাপে পরিপূর্ণ কথাবার্তা দ্বারাই ফাঁদে পড়ে, ও সেভাবেই নির্দোষ লোকজন বিপত্তি থেকে রক্ষা পায়।
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of [his] mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
মানুষ তাদের ঠোঁটের ফল দ্বারা মঙ্গলে পরিপূর্ণ হয়, ও তাদের হাতের কাজই তাদের পুরস্কৃত করে।
15 The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel [is] wise.
মূর্খদের পথ তাদের কাছে ঠিক বলে মনে হয়, কিন্তু জ্ঞানবানেরা পরামর্শ শোনে।
16 A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
মূর্খেরা অবিলম্বে তাদের বিরক্তি প্রকাশ করে, কিন্তু বিচক্ষণ লোকেরা অপমান উপেক্ষা করে।
17 [He that] speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
একজন সত্যবাদী সাক্ষী সত্যিকথা বলে, কিন্তু একজন মিথ্যাসাক্ষী মিথ্যা কথা বলে।
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.
অবিবেচকের কথা তরোয়ালের মতো বিদ্ধ করে, কিন্তু জ্ঞানবানের জিভ সুস্থতা নিয়ে আসে।
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue [is] but for a moment.
সত্যবাদী ঠোঁট চিরকাল স্থায়ী হয়, কিন্তু মিথ্যাবাদী জিভ শুধু এক মুহূর্তের জন্য স্থায়ী হয়।
20 Deceit [is] in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace [is] joy.
যারা অমঙ্গলের চক্রান্ত করে তাদের অন্তরে ছলনা থাকে, কিন্তু যারা শান্তির উদ্যোক্তা হয় তারা আনন্দ পায়।
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
কোনও অনিষ্টই ধার্মিকদের আতঙ্কগ্রস্ত করে না, কিন্তু দুষ্টদের অসুবিধা ভোগ করতে হয়।
22 Lying lips [are] abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly [are] his delight.
সদাপ্রভু মিথ্যাবাদী ঠোঁট ঘৃণা করেন, কিন্তু যারা নির্ভরযোগ্য তাদের নিয়ে তিনি আনন্দ করেন।
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
বিচক্ষণ লোকেরা তাদের জ্ঞান নিজেদের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ রাখে, কিন্তু মূর্খদের অন্তর মূর্খতা ফাঁস করে দেয়।
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
পরিশ্রমী হাত শাসন করবে, কিন্তু অলসতা শেষ পর্যন্ত বেগার শ্রমিকে পরিণত হয়।
25 Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
দুশ্চিন্তার ভারে অন্তর অবনত হয়, কিন্তু সৌজন্যমূলক একটি কথা সেটিকে উৎসাহিত করে।
26 The righteous [is] more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
ধার্মিকেরা সতর্কতার সঙ্গে তাদের বন্ধু মনোনীত করে, কিন্তু দুষ্টেরা তাদের বিপথগামী করে।
27 The slothful [man] roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man [is] precious.
অলসেরা শিকার করা কোনো কিছু উনুনে সেঁকে না, কিন্তু পরিশ্রমীরা শিকারের ধন উপভোগ করে।
28 In the way of righteousness [is] life; and [in] the pathway [thereof there is] no death.
ধার্মিকতার পথে জীবন আছে; সেই পথ বরাবর অমরতা আছে।
