Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son [is] the heaviness of his mother.
Los proverbios de Salomón. Un hijo sabio hace un padre feliz; pero un hijo insensato trae dolor a su madre.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Los tesoros de la maldad no aprovechan nada, pero la justicia libra de la muerte.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
Yahvé no permitirá que el alma del justo pase hambre, pero aleja el deseo de los malvados.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Se hace pobre el que trabaja con mano perezosa, pero la mano del diligente trae riqueza.
5 He that gathereth in summer [is] a wise son: [but] he that sleepeth in harvest [is] a son that causeth shame.
El que recoge en verano es un hijo sabio, pero el que duerme durante la cosecha es un hijo que causa vergüenza.
6 Blessings [are] upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Las bendiciones están en la cabeza de los justos, pero la violencia cubre la boca de los malvados.
7 The memory of the just [is] blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
La memoria de los justos es bendita, pero el nombre de los malvados se pudrirá.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Los sabios de corazón aceptan los mandamientos, pero un tonto parlanchín caerá.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
El que camina sin culpa, camina con seguridad, pero el que pervierte sus caminos será descubierto.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
El que guiña el ojo causa dolor, pero un tonto parlanchín caerá.
11 The mouth of a righteous [man is] a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
La boca del justo es un manantial de vida, pero la violencia cubre la boca de los malvados.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
El odio suscita conflictos, pero el amor cubre todos los males.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod [is] for the back of him that is void of understanding.
La sabiduría se encuentra en los labios del que tiene discernimiento, pero la vara es para la espalda del que no tiene entendimiento.
14 Wise [men] lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish [is] near destruction.
Los sabios acumulan conocimientos, pero la boca del necio está cerca de la ruina.
15 The rich man’s wealth [is] his strong city: the destruction of the poor [is] their poverty.
La riqueza del rico es su ciudad fuerte. La destrucción de los pobres es su pobreza.
16 The labour of the righteous [tendeth] to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
El trabajo de los justos conduce a la vida. El aumento de los malvados lleva al pecado.
17 He [is in] the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Está en el camino de la vida quien hace caso a la corrección, pero el que abandona la reprensión extravía a los demás.
18 He that hideth hatred [with] lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, [is] a fool.
El que oculta el odio tiene labios mentirosos. El que profiere una calumnia es un necio.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips [is] wise.
En la multitud de palabras no falta la desobediencia, pero el que refrena sus labios lo hace con sabiduría.
20 The tongue of the just [is as] choice silver: the heart of the wicked [is] little worth.
La lengua del justo es como la plata selecta. El corazón de los malvados es de poco valor.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Los labios de los justos alimentan a muchos, pero los necios mueren por falta de entendimiento.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
La bendición de Yahvé trae riqueza, y no le añade ningún problema.
23 [It is] as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
El placer del necio es hacer la maldad, pero la sabiduría es un hombre de placer del entendimiento.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Lo que los malvados temen los alcanzará, pero el deseo de los justos será concedido.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so [is] the wicked no [more: ] but the righteous [is] an everlasting foundation.
Cuando el torbellino pasa, el malvado ya no existe; pero los justos se mantienen firmes para siempre.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so [is] the sluggard to them that send him.
Como vinagre a los dientes y como humo a los ojos, así es el perezoso para los que lo envían.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
El temor a Yahvé prolonga los días, pero los años de los impíos serán acortados.
28 The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
La perspectiva de los justos es la alegría, pero la esperanza de los malvados perecerá.
29 The way of the LORD [is] strength to the upright: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
El camino de Yahvé es una fortaleza para los rectos, sino que es una destrucción para los obreros de la iniquidad.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Los justos nunca serán eliminados, pero los malvados no habitarán la tierra.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
La boca del justo produce sabiduría, pero la lengua perversa será cortada.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] frowardness.
Los labios de los justos saben lo que es aceptable, pero la boca de los malvados es perversa.
