Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son [is] the heaviness of his mother.
Proverbele lui Solomon. Un fiu înțelept îl înveselește pe tată, dar un fiu prost este întristarea mamei sale.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Tezaurele stricăciunii nu folosesc la nimic, dar dreptatea eliberează de la moarte.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
DOMNUL nu va permite ca sufletul celui drept să înfometeze, dar el leapădă averea celor stricați.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Cel ce lucrează cu o mână leneșă sărăcește, dar mâna celui harnic îmbogățește.
5 He that gathereth in summer [is] a wise son: [but] he that sleepeth in harvest [is] a son that causeth shame.
Cel ce adună în timpul verii este un fiu înțelept, dar cel ce doarme la seceriș este un fiu care aduce rușine.
6 Blessings [are] upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Binecuvântări sunt peste capul celui drept, dar violența umple gura celor stricați.
7 The memory of the just [is] blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
Amintirea celui drept este binecuvântată, dar numele celor stricați va putrezi.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Cel înțelept în inimă va primi porunci, dar nebunul trăncănitor va cădea.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Cel ce umblă cu integritate umblă în siguranță, dar cel ce își pervertește căile va fi cunoscut.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
Cel ce clipește din ochi provoacă întristare, dar un nebun trăncănitor va cădea.
11 The mouth of a righteous [man is] a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Gura celui drept este fântână de viață, dar violența umple gura celui stricat.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Ura stârnește certuri, dar dragostea acoperă toate păcatele.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod [is] for the back of him that is void of understanding.
În buzele celui ce are înțelegere se găsește înțelepciune, dar o nuia este pentru spatele celui lipsit de înțelegere.
14 Wise [men] lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish [is] near destruction.
Înțelepții strâng cunoaștere, dar gura celui nebun este aproape de nimicire.
15 The rich man’s wealth [is] his strong city: the destruction of the poor [is] their poverty.
Averea bogatului este cetatea lui tare; nimicirea săracilor este sărăcia lor.
16 The labour of the righteous [tendeth] to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
Munca celui drept tinde la viață; rodul celui stricat la păcat.
17 He [is in] the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Cel ce ține instruirea este pe calea vieții, dar cel ce refuză mustrarea rătăcește.
18 He that hideth hatred [with] lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, [is] a fool.
Cel ce ascunde ură cu buze mincinoase și rostește o calomnie, este un prost.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips [is] wise.
În mulțimea cuvintelor nu lipsește păcatul, dar cel ce își înfrânează buzele este înțelept.
20 The tongue of the just [is as] choice silver: the heart of the wicked [is] little worth.
Limba celor drepți este ca argint ales; inima celor stricați are puțină valoare.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Buzele celui drept hrănesc pe mulți, dar cei nebuni mor din lipsă de înțelepciune.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Binecuvântarea DOMNULUI îmbogățește și el nu adaugă nicio mâhnire cu ea.
23 [It is] as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Pentru un prost, a face ticăloșie este ca un joc, dar un om al înțelegerii are înțelepciune.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Teama celui stricat va veni peste el, dar dorința celor drepți va fi îndeplinită.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so [is] the wicked no [more: ] but the righteous [is] an everlasting foundation.
Așa cum trece vârtejul de vânt, așa nu mai este cel stricat; dar cel drept este o fundație veșnică.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so [is] the sluggard to them that send him.
Ca oțet pentru dinți și ca fum pentru ochi, așa este cel leneș pentru cei ce îl trimit.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Teama de DOMNUL prelungește zilele, dar anii celor stricați vor fi scurtați.
28 The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Speranța celor drepți va fi bucurie, dar așteptarea celor stricați va pieri.
29 The way of the LORD [is] strength to the upright: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
Calea DOMNULUI este putere pentru cel integru, dar nimicire este pentru lucrătorii nelegiuirii.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Cel drept nu va fi niciodată clintit din loc, dar cei stricați nu vor locui pământul.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Gura celui drept duce mai departe înțelepciune, dar limba perversă va fi tăiată.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] frowardness.
Buzele celui drept cunosc ceea ce este bine primit, dar gura celor stricați vorbește perversitate.
