Philippians 1
1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
キリスト・イエスの僕たる我ら、パウロとテモテと、書をピリピにをるキリスト・イエスに在る凡ての聖徒、および監督たちと執事たちとに贈る。
2 Grace [be] unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ.
願はくは我らの父なる神および主イエス・キリストより賜ふ恩惠と平安と汝らに在らんことを。
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
われ汝らを憶ふごとに、我が神に感謝し、
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
常に汝ら衆のために、願のつどつど喜びて願をなす。
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
是なんぢら初の日より今に至るまで、福音を弘むることに與るが故なり。
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:
我は汝らの衷に善き業を始め給ひし者の、キリスト・イエスの日まで之を全うし給ふべきことを確信す。
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
わが斯くも汝ら衆を思ふは當然の事なり、我が縲絏にある時にも、福音を辯明して之を堅うする時にも、汝らは皆われと共に恩惠に與るによりて、我が心にあればなり。
8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
我いかにキリスト・イエスの心をもて汝ら衆を戀ひ慕ふか、その證をなし給ふ者は神なり。
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and [in] all judgment;
我は祈る、汝らの愛、知識ともろもろの悟とによりて彌が上にも増し加はり、
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
善惡を辨へ知り、キリストの日に至るまで潔よくして躓くことなく、
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
イエス・キリストによる義の果を充して、神の榮光と譽とを顯さん事を。
12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things [which happened] unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
兄弟よ、我はわが身にありし事の反つて福音の進歩の助となりしを汝らが知らんことを欲するなり。
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other [places];
即ち我が縲絏のキリストの爲なることは、近衞の全營にも、他の凡ての人にも顯れ、
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
かつ兄弟のうちの多くの者は、わが縲絏によりて主を信ずる心を厚くし、懼るる事なく、ますます勇みて神の言を語るに至れり。
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
或 者は嫉妬と分爭とによりてキリストを宣傳へ、あるものは善き心によりて之を宣傳ふ。
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
これは福音を辯明するために我が立てられたることを知り、愛によりてキリストを宣べ、
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
かれは我が縲絏に患難を加へんと思ひ、誠意によらず、徒黨によりて之を宣ぶ。
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
さらば如何、外貌にもあれ、眞にもあれ、孰も宣ぶる所はキリストなれば、我これを喜ぶ、また之を喜ばん。
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
そは此のことの汝らの祈とイエス・キリストの御靈の賜物とによりて、我が救となるべきを知ればなり。
20 According to my earnest expectation and [my] hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but [that] with all boldness, as always, [so] now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether [it be] by life, or by death.
これは我が何事をも恥ぢずして、今も常のごとく聊かも臆することなく、生くるにも、死ぬるにも、我が身によりてキリストの崇められ給はんことを切に願ひ、また望むところに適へるなり。
21 For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.
我にとりて、生くるはキリストなり、死ぬるもまた益なり。
22 But if I live in the flesh, this [is] the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
されど若し肉體にて生くる事わが勤勞の果となるならば、孰を選ぶべきか、我これを知らず。
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
我はこの二つの間に介まれたり。わが願は世を去りてキリストと偕に居らんことなり、これ遙に勝るなり。
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh [is] more needful for you.
されど我なほ肉體に留るは汝らの爲に必要なり。
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
我これを確信する故に、なほ存へて汝らの信仰の進歩と喜悦とのために、汝 等すべての者と偕に留らんことを知る。
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
これは我が再び汝らに到ることにより、汝らキリスト・イエスに在りて我にかかはる誇を増さん爲なり。
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
汝 等ただキリストの福音に相應しく日を過せ、さらば我が往きて汝らを見るも、離れゐて汝らの事をきくも、汝らが靈を一つにして堅く立ち、心を一つにして福音の信仰のために共に戰ひ、
28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
凡ての事において逆ふ者に驚かされぬを知ることを得ん。その驚かされぬは、彼らには亡の兆、なんぢらには救の兆にて、此は神より出づるなり。
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
汝 等はキリストのために啻に彼を信ずる事のみならず、また彼のために苦しむ事をも賜はりたればなり。
30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear [to be] in me.
汝らが遭ふ戰鬪は、曩に我の上に見しところ、今また我に就きて聞くところに同じ。
