Numbers 8

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

L'Eternel parla aussi à Moïse, en disant:

2 Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.

Parle à Aaron, et lui dis: Quand tu allumeras les lampes, les sept lampes éclaireront sur le devant du chandelier.

3 And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Et Aaron le fit ainsi, et il alluma les lampes [pour éclairer] sur le devant du chandelier, comme l'Eternel l'avait commandé à Moïse.

4 And this work of the candlestick [was of] beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, [was] beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

Or le chandelier était fait de telle manière, qu'il était d'or battu au marteau, [d'ouvrage] fait au marteau, sa tige aussi, [et] ses fleurs. On fit ainsi le chandelier selon le modèle que l'Eternel en avait fait voir à Moïse.

5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Puis l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant:

6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

Prends les Lévites d'entre les enfants d'Israël, et les purifie.

7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and [so] make themselves clean.

Tu leur feras ainsi pour les purifier. Tu feras aspersion sur eux de l'eau de purification; ils feront passer le rasoir sur toute leur chair, ils laveront leurs vêtements, et ils se purifieront.

8 Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, [even] fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.

Puis ils prendront un veau pris du troupeau avec son gâteau de fine farine pétrie à l'huile; et tu prendras un second veau pris du troupeau [pour l'offrande] pour le péché.

9 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:

Alors tu feras approcher les Lévites devant le Tabernacle d assignation, et tu convoqueras toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël.

10 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:

Tu feras, [dis-je], approcher les Lévites devant l'Eternel, et les enfants d'Israël poseront leurs mains sur les Lévites.

11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD [for] an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.

Et Aaron présentera les Lévites en offrande devant l'Eternel de la part des enfants d'Israël, et ils seront employés au service de l'Eternel.

12 And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one [for] a sin offering, and the other [for] a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.

Et les Lévites poseront leurs mains sur la tête des veaux; puis tu en sacrifieras l'un [en offrande] pour le péché, et l'autre en holocauste à l'Eternel, afin de faire propitiation pour les Lévites.

13 And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them [for] an offering unto the LORD.

Après tu feras tenir les Lévites devant Aaron et devant ses fils, et tu les présenteras en offrande à l'Eternel.

14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.

Ainsi tu sépareras les Lévites d'entre les enfants d'Israël, et les Lévites seront à moi.

15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them [for] an offering.

Après cela les Lévites viendront pour servir au Tabernacle d'assignation, quand tu les auras purifiés, et présentés en offrande.

16 For they [are] wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, [even instead of] the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

Car ils me sont entièrement donnés d'entre les enfants d'Israël; je les ai pris pour moi au lieu de tous ceux qui ouvrent la matrice, au lieu de tous les premiers-nés d'entre les enfants d'Israël.

17 For all the firstborn of the children of Israel [are] mine, [both] man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

Car tout premier-né d'entre les enfants d'Israël est à moi, tant des hommes que des bêtes; je me les suis sanctifiés le jour que je frappai tout premier-né au pays d'Egypte.

18 And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.

r j'ai pris les Lévites au lieu de tous les premiers-nés d'entre les enfants d'Israël.

19 And I have given the Levites [as] a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.

Et j'ai entièrement donné d'entre les enfants d'Israël les Lévites à Aaron et à ses fils, pour faire le service des enfants d'Israël dans le Tabernacle d'assignation, et pour servir de rachat pour les enfants d'Israël; afin qu'il n'y ait point de plaie sur les enfants d'Israël, [comme il y aurait] si les enfants d'Israël s'approchaient du Sanctuaire.

20 And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.

Moïse et Aaron, et toute l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël firent aux Lévites toutes les choses que l'Eternel avait commandées à Moïse touchant les Lévites; les enfants d'Israël le firent ainsi.

21 And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them [as] an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.

Les Lévites donc se purifièrent, et lavèrent leurs vêtements, et Aaron les présenta en offrande devant l'Eternel, et fit propitiation pour eux afin de les purifier.

22 And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.

Cela étant fait, les Lévites vinrent pour faire leur service au Tabernacle d'assignation devant Aaron, et devant ses fils; et on leur fit comme l'Eternel l'avait commandé à Moïse touchant les Lévites.

23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Puis l'Eternel parla à Moïse, en disant:

24 This [is it] that [belongeth] unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:

C'est ici ce qui concerne les Lévites. Le Lévite depuis l'âge de vingt-cinq ans et au dessus, entrera en service pour être employé au Tabernacle d'assignation;

25 And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service [thereof], and shall serve no more:

Mais depuis l'âge de cinquante ans il sortira de service, et ne servira plus.

26 But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.

Cependant il servira ses frères au Tabernacle d'assignation, pour garder ce qui [leur a été commis], mais il ne fera aucun service; tu feras donc ainsi aux Lévites touchant leurs charges.
