Numbers 23

1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

பிலேயாம் பாலாக்கிடம், “இங்கே எனக்காக ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஏழு காளைகளையும், ஏழு செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாக்களையும் ஆயத்தப்படுத்து” என்றான்.

2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on [every] altar a bullock and a ram.

பிலேயாம் சொன்னதுபோலவே பாலாக் செய்தான். அவர்கள் இருவரும் ஒவ்வொரு பலிபீடத்திலும் ஒரு காளையையும், ஒரு செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாவையும் பலியிட்டார்கள்.

3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

பின்பு பிலேயாம் பாலாக்கிடம், “நீ உன் காணிக்கைக்கு அருகில் நில். நான் அப்பால் போகிறேன். ஒருவேளை யெகோவா என்னைச் சந்திக்கவரலாம். அவர் எனக்கு எதை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறாரோ அதை நான் உனக்குச் சொல்வேன்” என்று சொல்லி அவன் ஒரு வறண்ட மேட்டை நோக்கிப் போனான்.

4 And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon [every] altar a bullock and a ram.

அங்கே இறைவன் பிலேயாமைச் சந்தித்தார். பிலேயாம் யெகோவாவிடம், “நான் ஏழு பலிபீடங்களை உண்டுபண்ணி ஒவ்வொன்றிலும் ஒரு காளையையும், ஒரு செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாவையும் பலியிட்டேன்” என்றான்.

5 And the LORD put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.

அப்பொழுது யெகோவா பிலேயாமின் வாயில் ஒரு செய்தியைக் கொடுத்து, “நீ பாலாக்கிடம் திரும்பிப்போய் இந்தச் செய்தியை அவனுக்குச் சொல்” என்றார்.

6 And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.

பிலேயாம் பாலாக்கிடம் திரும்பிவந்து, அவன் மோவாப் தலைவர்களுடன் தன் காணிக்கைக்கு அருகே நிற்பதைக் கண்டான்.

7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, [saying], Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.

அங்கே பிலேயாம் இறைவாக்குரைத்துச் சொன்னதாவது: “பாலாக் என்னை ஆராமிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்தான், மோவாபின் அரசன் கிழக்கு மலைகளிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்தான். ‘வா,’ எனக்காக யாக்கோபைச் ‘சபி; வந்து இஸ்ரயேலைப் பகிரங்கமாகக் குற்றப்படுத்து’ என்றான்.

8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, [whom] the LORD hath not defied?

இறைவன் சபிக்காதவர்களை நான் எப்படி சபிக்கலாம்? யெகோவா பகிரங்கமாய்க் குற்றப்படுத்தாதவர்களை நான் எப்படிக் குற்றப்படுத்தலாம்?

9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.

கற்பாறை உச்சியிலிருந்து நான் அவர்களைக் காண்கிறேன்; மேடுகளிலிருந்து நான் அவர்களைப் பார்க்கிறேன். அங்கே தங்களை வேறு நாடுகளிலிருந்து வேறுபிரித்துக்கொண்டு தனியாக வாழ்கிற மக்களைக் காண்கிறேன்.

10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth [part] of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!

யாக்கோபின் புழுதியை யாரால் எண்ண முடியும்? இஸ்ரயேலின் காற்பங்கை யாரால் கணக்கிட முடியும்? நேர்மையானவர்கள் இறப்பது போலவே நானும் இறக்கவேண்டும்; அவர்களுடைய முடிவைப்போலவே என் முடிவும் இருக்கட்டும்.”

11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed [them] altogether.

அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமிடம், “நீ எனக்கு என்ன செய்தாய்? நான் என் பகைவர்களைச் சபிக்கவே உன்னைக் கொண்டுவந்தேன். ஆனால் நீயோ, அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறாயே அல்லாமல் வேறெதையும் செய்யவில்லையே” என்றான்.

12 And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?

அதற்கு பிலேயாம், “யெகோவா எனக்குச் சொல்லும்படி வாயில் கொடுக்கிறதை நான் பேச வேண்டாமோ?” என்றான்.

13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

அதற்கு பாலாக் பிலேயாமிடம், “நீ அவர்களைப் பார்க்கக்கூடிய வேறு இடத்திற்கு என்னுடன் வா. அங்கு இஸ்ரயேலர் எல்லோரையும் அல்ல; அவர்களில் ஒரு பகுதியினரை மட்டுமே காண்பாய். அங்கிருந்து அவர்களை எனக்காகச் சபி” என்றான்.

14 And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on [every] altar.

அவ்வாறே பாலாக் பிலேயாமை பிஸ்காவின் உச்சியில் இருக்கிற சோப்பீமின் வெளியிலேக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனான். அங்கே ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஒவ்வொரு பலிபீடத்திலும் ஒரு காளையையும், ஒரு செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாவையும் பலியிட்டான்.

15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet [the Lord] yonder.

அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாக்கிடம், “நீ உன் காணிக்கைக்குப் பக்கத்தில் நில். நான் அங்குபோய் யெகோவாவைச் சந்தித்து வருகிறேன்” என்று சொல்லிப் போனான்.

16 And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.

அங்கே யெகோவா பிலேயாமைச் சந்தித்து, ஒரு செய்தியை அவனுடைய வாயில் வைத்து, “நீ திரும்பி பாலாக்கிடம் போய் இந்த செய்தியை அவனுக்குச் சொல்” என்றார்.

17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?

அப்படியே பிலேயாம் பாலாக்கிடம் போய், மோவாபின் தலைவர்களுடன் அவன் தன் காணிக்கைக்கு அருகில் நிற்பதைக் கண்டான். பாலாக் அவனிடம், “யெகோவா என்ன சொன்னார்?” என்று கேட்டான்.

18 And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:

அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் இறைவாக்கை உரைத்தான்: “பாலாக்கே, எழுந்து எனக்குச் செவிகொடு, சிப்போரின் மகனே, நான் சொல்வதைக் கேள்.

19 God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

பொய் சொல்வதற்கு இறைவன் ஒரு மனிதனல்ல; தன் மனதை மாற்றுவதற்கு அவர் ஒரு மனிதனின் மகனுமல்ல. அவர் சொல்லி, அதைச் செயல்படுத்தாமல் விடுவாரோ! அவர் வாக்குக்கொடுத்து, அதை நிறைவேற்றாமல் விடுவாரோ?

20 Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

நான் ஆசீர்வதிப்பதற்குக் கட்டளை பெற்றேன்; அவர் ஆசீர்வதித்திருக்கிறார், அதை என்னால் மாற்றமுடியாது.

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God [is] with him, and the shout of a king [is] among them.

“நான் யாக்கோபின்மேல் ஒரு கஷ்டம் வருவதையும் காணவில்லை, இஸ்ரயேலில் ஒரு பிரச்சனையையும் கண்டுகொள்ளவில்லை. அவர்களின் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களோடிருக்கிறார்; அரசனின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பு அவர்களோடு இருக்கிறது.

22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.

இறைவனே அவர்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டுவந்தார்; காட்டு எருதின் பலம் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டு.

23 Surely [there is] no enchantment against Jacob, neither [is there] any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

யாக்கோபுக்கு எதிரான மாந்திரீகமும் இல்லை, இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு எதிரான குறிபார்த்தலும் இல்லை. ‘இறைவன் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்திருக்கும் புதுமைகளைப் பாருங்கள்’ என்று இப்பொழுது யாக்கோபைப்பற்றியும், இஸ்ரயேலைப் பற்றியும் சொல்லப்படும்.

24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat [of] the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.

அந்த மக்கள் சிங்கம்போல் வீறுகொண்டெழும்புகிறார்கள். பெண் சிங்கம்போல் எழும்புகிறார்கள். தன் இரையை விழுங்கி, தான் வேட்டையாடிய இரத்தத்தைக் குடிக்கும்வரைக்கும் ஓய்ந்திரார்கள்” என்றான்.

25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.

அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமிடம், “நீ அவர்களைச் சபிக்கவும் வேண்டாம், அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவும் வேண்டாம்” என்றான்.

26 But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?

அதற்குப் பிலேயாம், “யெகோவா எனக்குச் சொல்வதையே நான் செய்வேன் என்று நான் உனக்குச் சொல்லவில்லையா?” என்றான்.

27 And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.

பின்பு பாலாக் பிலேயாமிடம், “நீ என்னுடன் வா; நான் உன்னை வேறு ஒரு இடத்திற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு செல்கிறேன். ஒருவேளை அங்கேயிருந்து நீ எனக்காக அவர்களைச் சபிப்பது இறைவனுக்கு விருப்பமாயிருக்கும்” என்றான்.

28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jeshimon.

பாலாக் பிலேயாமை பாழ்நிலத்தின் பக்கத்திலுள்ள பேயோரின் உச்சிக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போனான்.

29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

பிலேயாம் பாலாக்கிடம், “இங்கே எனக்கு ஏழு பலிபீடங்களைக் கட்டி, ஏழு காளைகளையும், ஏழு செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாக்களையும் ஆயத்தப்படுத்து” என்றான்.

30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on [every] altar.

பிலேயாம் சொன்னதுபோல் பாலாக் ஒவ்வொரு பீடத்திலும் ஒரு காளையையும், ஒரு செம்மறியாட்டுக் கடாவையும் பலியிட்டான்.
