Matthew 23
1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,
അനന്തരം യീശു ർജനനിവഹം ശിഷ്യാംശ്ചാവദത്,
2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat:
അധ്യാപകാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച മൂസാസനേ ഉപവിശന്തി,
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.
അതസ്തേ യുഷ്മാൻ യദ്യത് മന്തുമ് ആജ്ഞാപയന്തി, തത് മന്യധ്വം പാലയധ്വഞ്ച, കിന്തു തേഷാം കർമ്മാനുരൂപം കർമ്മ ന കുരുധ്വം; യതസ്തേഷാം വാക്യമാത്രം സാരം കാര്യ്യേ കിമപി നാസ്തി|
4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay [them] on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.
തേ ദുർവ്വഹാൻ ഗുരുതരാൻ ഭാരാൻ ബദ്വ്വാ മനുഷ്യാണാം സ്കന്ധേപരി സമർപയന്തി, കിന്തു സ്വയമങ്ഗുല്യൈകയാപി ന ചാലയന്തി|
5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
കേവലം ലോകദർശനായ സർവ്വകർമ്മാണി കുർവ്വന്തി; ഫലതഃ പട്ടബന്ധാൻ പ്രസാര്യ്യ ധാരയന്തി, സ്വവസ്ത്രേഷു ച ദീർഘഗ്രന്ഥീൻ ധാരയന്തി;
6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
ഭോജനഭവന ഉച്ചസ്ഥാനം, ഭജനഭവനേ പ്രധാനമാസനം,
7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
ഹട്ഠേ നമസ്കാരം ഗുരുരിതി സമ്ബോധനഞ്ചൈതാനി സർവ്വാണി വാഞ്ഛന്തി|
8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.
കിന്തു യൂയം ഗുരവ ഇതി സമ്ബോധനീയാ മാ ഭവത, യതോ യുഷ്മാകമ് ഏകഃ ഖ്രീഷ്ടഏവ ഗുരു
9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
ര്യൂയം സർവ്വേ മിഥോ ഭ്രാതരശ്ച| പുനഃ പൃഥിവ്യാം കമപി പിതേതി മാ സമ്ബുധ്യധ്വം, യതോ യുഷ്മാകമേകഃ സ്വർഗസ്ഥഏവ പിതാ|
10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ.
യൂയം നായകേതി സമ്ഭാഷിതാ മാ ഭവത, യതോ യുഷ്മാകമേകഃ ഖ്രീഷ്ടഏവ നായകഃ|
11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
അപരം യുഷ്മാകം മധ്യേ യഃ പുമാൻ ശ്രേഷ്ഠഃ സ യുഷ്മാൻ സേവിഷ്യതേ|
12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
യതോ യഃ സ്വമുന്നമതി, സ നതഃ കരിഷ്യതേ; കിന്തു യഃ കശ്ചിത് സ്വമവനതം കരോതി, സ ഉന്നതഃ കരിഷ്യതേ|
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in [yourselves], neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
ഹന്ത കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച, യൂയം മനുജാനാം സമക്ഷം സ്വർഗദ്വാരം രുന്ധ, യൂയം സ്വയം തേന ന പ്രവിശഥ, പ്രവിവിക്ഷൂനപി വാരയഥ| വത കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച യൂയം ഛലാദ് ദീർഘം പ്രാർഥ്യ വിധവാനാം സർവ്വസ്വം ഗ്രസഥ, യുഷ്മാകം ഘോരതരദണ്ഡോ ഭവിഷ്യതി|
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
ഹന്ത കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച, യൂയമേകം സ്വധർമ്മാവലമ്ബിനം കർത്തും സാഗരം ഭൂമണ്ഡലഞ്ച പ്രദക്ഷിണീകുരുഥ,
15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
കഞ്ചന പ്രാപ്യ സ്വതോ ദ്വിഗുണനരകഭാജനം തം കുരുഥ| (Geenna g1067)
16 Woe unto you, [ye] blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
വത അന്ധപഥദർശകാഃ സർവ്വേ, യൂയം വദഥ, മന്ദിരസ്യ ശപഥകരണാത് കിമപി ന ദേയം; കിന്തു മന്ദിരസ്ഥസുവർണസ്യ ശപഥകരണാദ് ദേയം|
17 [Ye] fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
ഹേ മൂഢാ ഹേ അന്ധാഃ സുവർണം തത്സുവർണപാവകമന്ദിരമ് ഏതയോരുഭയോ ർമധ്യേ കിം ശ്രേയഃ?
18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
അന്യച്ച വദഥ, യജ്ഞവേദ്യാഃ ശപഥകരണാത് കിമപി ന ദേയം, കിന്തു തദുപരിസ്ഥിതസ്യ നൈവേദ്യസ്യ ശപഥകരണാദ് ദേയം|
19 [Ye] fools and blind: for whether [is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
ഹേ മൂഢാ ഹേ അന്ധാഃ, നൈവേദ്യം തന്നൈവേദ്യപാവകവേദിരേതയോരുഭയോ ർമധ്യേ കിം ശ്രേയഃ?
20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
അതഃ കേനചിദ് യജ്ഞവേദ്യാഃ ശപഥേ കൃതേ തദുപരിസ്ഥസ്യ സർവ്വസ്യ ശപഥഃ ക്രിയതേ|
21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
കേനചിത് മന്ദിരസ്യ ശപഥേ കൃതേ മന്ദിരതന്നിവാസിനോഃ ശപഥഃ ക്രിയതേ|
22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
കേനചിത് സ്വർഗസ്യ ശപഥേ കൃതേ ഈശ്വരീയസിംഹാസനതദുപര്യ്യുപവിഷ്ടയോഃ ശപഥഃ ക്രിയതേ|
23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
ഹന്ത കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച, യൂയം പോദിനായാഃ സിതച്ഛത്രായാ ജീരകസ്യ ച ദശമാംശാൻ ദത്ഥ, കിന്തു വ്യവസ്ഥായാ ഗുരുതരാൻ ന്യായദയാവിശ്വാസാൻ പരിത്യജഥ; ഇമേ യുഷ്മാഭിരാചരണീയാ അമീ ച ന ലംഘനീയാഃ|
24 [Ye] blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
ഹേ അന്ധപഥദർശകാ യൂയം മശകാൻ അപസാരയഥ, കിന്തു മഹാങ്ഗാൻ ഗ്രസഥ|
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
ഹന്ത കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച, യൂയം പാനപാത്രാണാം ഭോജനപാത്രാണാഞ്ച ബഹിഃ പരിഷ്കുരുഥ; കിന്തു തദഭ്യന്തരം ദുരാത്മതയാ കലുഷേണ ച പരിപൂർണമാസ്തേ|
26 [Thou] blind Pharisee, cleanse first that [which is] within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
ഹേ അന്ധാഃ ഫിരൂശിലോകാ ആദൗ പാനപാത്രാണാം ഭോജനപാത്രാണാഞ്ചാഭ്യന്തരം പരിഷ്കുരുത, തേന തേഷാം ബഹിരപി പരിഷ്കാരിഷ്യതേ|
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men’s] bones, and of all uncleanness.
ഹന്ത കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച, യൂയം ശുക്ലീകൃതശ്മശാനസ്വരൂപാ ഭവഥ, യഥാ ശ്മശാനഭവനസ്യ ബഹിശ്ചാരു, കിന്ത്വഭ്യന്തരം മൃതലോകാനാം കീകശൈഃ സർവ്വപ്രകാരമലേന ച പരിപൂർണമ്;
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
തഥൈവ യൂയമപി ലോകാനാം സമക്ഷം ബഹിർധാർമ്മികാഃ കിന്ത്വന്തഃകരണേഷു കേവലകാപട്യാധർമ്മാഭ്യാം പരിപൂർണാഃ|
29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
ഹാ ഹാ കപടിന ഉപാധ്യായാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച, യൂയം ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദിനാം ശ്മശാനഗേഹം നിർമ്മാഥ, സാധൂനാം ശ്മശാനനികേതനം ശോഭയഥ
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
വദഥ ച യദി വയം സ്വേഷാം പൂർവ്വപുരുഷാണാം കാല അസ്ഥാസ്യാമ, തർഹി ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദിനാം ശോണിതപാതനേ തേഷാം സഹഭാഗിനോ നാഭവിഷ്യാമ|
31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
അതോ യൂയം ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദിഘാതകാനാം സന്താനാ ഇതി സ്വയമേവ സ്വേഷാം സാക്ഷ്യം ദത്ഥ|
32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
അതോ യൂയം നിജപൂർവ്വപുരുഷാണാം പരിമാണപാത്രം പരിപൂരയത|
33 [Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Geenna g1067)
രേ ഭുജഗാഃ കൃഷ്ണഭുജഗവംശാഃ, യൂയം കഥം നരകദണ്ഡാദ് രക്ഷിഷ്യധ്വേ| (Geenna g1067)
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and [some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute [them] from city to city:
പശ്യത, യുഷ്മാകമന്തികമ് അഹം ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദിനോ ബുദ്ധിമത ഉപാധ്യായാംശ്ച പ്രേഷയിഷ്യാമി, കിന്തു തേഷാം കതിപയാ യുഷ്മാഭി ർഘാനിഷ്യന്തേ, ക്രുശേ ച ഘാനിഷ്യന്തേ, കേചിദ് ഭജനഭവനേ കഷാഭിരാഘാനിഷ്യന്തേ, നഗരേ നഗരേ താഡിഷ്യന്തേ ച;
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
തേന സത്പുരുഷസ്യ ഹാബിലോ രക്തപാതമാരഭ്യ ബേരിഖിയഃ പുത്രം യം സിഖരിയം യൂയം മന്ദിരയജ്ഞവേദ്യോ ർമധ്യേ ഹതവന്തഃ, തദീയശോണിതപാതം യാവദ് അസ്മിൻ ദേശേ യാവതാം സാധുപുരുഷാണാം ശോണിതപാതോ ഽഭവത് തത് സർവ്വേഷാമാഗസാം ദണ്ഡാ യുഷ്മാസു വർത്തിഷ്യന്തേ|
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
അഹം യുഷ്മാന്ത തഥ്യം വദാമി, വിദ്യമാനേഽസ്മിൻ പുരുഷേ സർവ്വേ വർത്തിഷ്യന്തേ|
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
ഹേ യിരൂശാലമ് ഹേ യിരൂശാലമ് നഗരി ത്വം ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദിനോ ഹതവതീ, തവ സമീപം പ്രേരിതാംശ്ച പാഷാണൈരാഹതവതീ, യഥാ കുക്കുടീ ശാവകാൻ പക്ഷാധഃ സംഗൃഹ്ലാതി, തഥാ തവ സന്താനാൻ സംഗ്രഹീതും അഹം ബഹുവാരമ് ഐച്ഛം; കിന്തു ത്വം ന സമമന്യഥാഃ|
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
പശ്യത യഷ്മാകം വാസസ്ഥാനമ് ഉച്ഛിന്നം ത്യക്ഷ്യതേ|
39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
അഹം യുഷ്മാൻ തഥ്യം വദാമി, യഃ പരമേശ്വരസ്യ നാമ്നാഗച്ഛതി, സ ധന്യ ഇതി വാണീം യാവന്ന വദിഷ്യഥ, താവത് മാം പുന ർന ദ്രക്ഷ്യഥ|
