Matthew 15
1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
Então [alguns] fariseus e escribas de Jerusalém se aproximaram de Jesus, e perguntaram:
2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
Por que os teus discípulos transgridem a tradição dos anciãos? Pois não lavam suas mãos quando comem pão.
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Porém ele lhes respondeu: E vós, por que transgredis o mandamento de Deus por vossa tradição?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
Pois Deus disse: Honra ao [teu] pai e à [tua] mãe; e quem maldisser ao pai ou à mãe seja sentenciado à morte.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to [his] father or [his] mother, [It is] a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
Mas vós dizeis: “Qualquer um que disser ao pai ou à mãe: ‘Todo o proveito que terias de mim é oferta exclusiva [para Deus]’, não [precisa] honrar seu pai ou à sua mãe”.
6 And honour not his father or his mother, [he shall be free]. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
E [assim] invalidastes a palavra de Deus por vossa tradição.
7 [Ye] hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
Hipócritas! Isaías bem profetizou sobre vós, dizendo:
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.
Este povo com os lábios me honra; mas o seu coração está longe de mim.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.
Em vão, porém, me veneram, ensinando doutrinas que são regras humanas.
10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
Assim chamou a multidão para si, e disse-lhes: Ouvi e entendei.
11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Não é o que entra na boca que contamina o ser humano; mas sim o que sai da boca, isso contamina o ser humano.
12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
Então os discípulos aproximaram-se dele, e lhe perguntaram: Tu sabes que os fariseus se ofenderam quando ouviram essa palavra?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
Mas ele respondeu: Toda planta que meu Pai celestial não plantou será arrancada pela raiz.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Deixai-os, são guias cegos de cegos. E se o cego guiar [outro] cego, ambos cairão na cova.
15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
E Pedro lhe disse: Explica-nos a parábola.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
Porém [Jesus] disse: Até vós ainda estais sem entender?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
Não percebeis que tudo o que entra na boca vai ao ventre, mas [depois] é lançado na privada?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
Porém as coisas que saem da boca procedem do coração; e elas contaminam o ser humano.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Pois do coração procedem maus pensamentos, mortes, adultérios, pecados sexuais, furtos, falsos testemunhos, blasfêmias.
20 These are [the things] which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Estas coisas são as que contaminam o ser humano; mas comer sem lavar as mãos não contamina o ser humano.
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
E, tendo Jesus partido dali, foi para as partes de Tiro e de Sidom.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, [thou] Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
E eis que uma mulher Cananeia, que tinha saído daquela região, clamou: Senhor, Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim! Minha filha está miseravelmente endemoninhada.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
Mas ele não lhe respondeu palavra. Então seus discípulos se aproximaram dele, e rogaram-lhe, dizendo: Manda-a embora, porque ela está gritando atrás de nós.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
E ele respondeu: Não fui enviado para ninguém além das ovelhas perdidas da casa de Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
Então ela veio e se prostrou diante dele, dizendo: Senhor, socorre-me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast [it] to dogs.
Mas ele respondeu: Não é bom tomar o pão dos filhos e lançá-lo aos cachorrinhos.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
Ela, porém, disse: Sim, Senhor. Porém os cachorrinhos também comem, das migalhas que caem da mesa dos seus senhores.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Então Jesus lhe respondeu: Ó mulher, grande [é] a tua fé. A ti seja feito como tu queres. E desde aquela hora sua filha ficou curada.
29 And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.
E tendo Jesus partido dali, veio ao mar da Galileia. Ele subiu a um monte, e ali se sentou.
30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them [those that were] lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
E vieram a ele muitas multidões, que tinham consigo mancos, aleijados, cegos, mudos, e muitos outros; e os lançaram aos pés de Jesus, e ele os curou.
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Desta maneira, as multidões se maravilhavam quando viam os mudos falarem, os aleijados ficarem sãos, os mancos andarem, e os cegos verem; então glorificaram ao Deus de Israel.
32 Then Jesus called his disciples [unto him], and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
Jesus chamou a si os seus discípulos, e disse: Estou compadecido com a multidão, porque já há três dias que estão comigo, e não têm o que comer. E não quero os deixar ir em jejum, para que não desmaiem no caminho.
33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
E os discípulos lhe responderam: De onde conseguiremos tantos pães no deserto, para saciar tão grande multidão?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
Jesus lhes perguntou: Quantos pães tendes? E eles disseram: Sete; e uns poucos peixinhos.
35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
Então mandou as multidões que se sentassem pelo chão.
36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake [them], and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
Tomou os sete pães e os peixes, deu graças e os partiu. Em seguida, ele os deu aos discípulos, e os discípulos às multidões.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken [meat] that was left seven baskets full.
E todos comeram e se saciaram; e levantaram dos pedaços que sobraram sete cestos cheios.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.
E foram os que comeram quatro mil homens, sem contar as mulheres e as crianças.
39 And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.
Depois de despedir as multidões, [Jesus] entrou em um barco, e veio à região de Magadã.
