Mark 4
1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
彼は再び海辺で教え始めた。大群衆が彼のもとに集まって来た。そのため彼は，海上の舟の中に入って座った。群衆は皆，海辺の陸地にいた。
2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
彼はたとえを用いて多くの事を教え，自分の教えの中で人々に言った，
3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
「聞きなさい！ 見よ，ある耕作人が種をまきに出かけた。
4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
そして，種をまいているときのこと，ある種は道ばたに落ち，鳥たちがやって来て，それをむさぼり食ってしまった。
5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
別の種は土の少ない岩地の上に落ちた。そして，土が深くなかったので，すぐに芽を出した。
6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
太陽が昇ると焦がされ，根がないために枯れ果ててしまった。
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
別の種はイバラの間に落ち，イバラが伸びて来てそれをふさぎ，それは実を生じなかった。
8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
それ以外の種は良い土に落ち，成長して大きくなり，実を生じた。あるものは三十倍，あるものは六十倍，あるものは百倍もの実を生み出した」 。
9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
彼は言った，「だれでも聞く耳のある者は聞きなさい」 。
10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
彼がひとりになった時，十二人と共に彼の周りにいた者たちは，このたとえについて彼に尋ねた。
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all [these] things are done in parables:
彼は彼らに言った，「あなた方には神の王国の秘密が与えられているが，外にいる者たちにはすべての事がたとえで与えられる。
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and [their] sins should be forgiven them.
それは，『彼らが見るには見るが分からず，聞くには聞くが理解せず，何かの拍子に立ち返って，その罪が許されることのないため』だ」 。
13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
彼らに言った，「あなた方はこのたとえが理解できないのか。どのようにしてほかのすべてのたとえを理解するつもりなのか。
14 The sower soweth the word.
耕作人はみ言葉をまくのだ。
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
道ばたにみ言葉がまかれたものとは，こういう人たちのことだ。彼らが聞くと，すぐにサタンがやって来て，彼らの内にまかれたみ言葉を取り去るのだ。
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
同じように，岩地の上にまかれたものとは，こういう人たちのことだ。み言葉を聞くと，喜んですぐに受け入れる。
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
自分の内に根がないので，短命だ。み言葉のために圧迫や迫害が生じると，すぐにつまずく。
18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
イバラの間にまかれたものとは，別の者たちのことだ。これはみ言葉を聞いた人たちだが，
19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
この時代の思い煩いや，富の欺きや，ほかの物事に関する欲望が入り込んでみ言葉をふさぎ，それは実を結ばなくなる。 (aiōn g165)
20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive [it], and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
良い土の上にまかれたものとは，こういう人たちのことだ。み言葉を聞いて受け入れ，ある者は三十倍，ある者は六十倍，ある者は百倍の実を結ぶのだ」 。
21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
彼らに言った，「ともし火が持って来られるのは，かごの下や寝台の下に置かれるためだろうか。燭台の上に置かれるためではないか。
22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
というのは，知られるためでないのに隠されているものはなく，明るみに出るためでないのに秘密にされているものはないからだ。
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
だれでも聞く耳のある者は聞きなさい」 。
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
彼らに言った，「自分が聞いていることに注意を払いなさい。あなた方が量るそのはかりで，あなた方に量られるだろう。そして，聞いている者にはさらに与えられるだろう。
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
持っている者にはさらに与えられ，持っていない者からは持っているものまでも取り去られることになるからだ」 。
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
彼は言った，「神の王国は次のようなものだ。人が地に種をまき，
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
夜昼，寝起きしているうちに，種は芽が出て成長する。どのようにしてかを彼は知らない。
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
地が実を生み出すのであって，最初に葉，それから穂，それから豊かな穀粒を生み出すからだ。
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
しかし，実が熟するとすぐに彼はかまを入れる。収穫の時が来たからだ」 。
30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
彼は言った，「わたしたちは，神の王国をどのようにたとえようか。あるいは，どんなたとえで説明しようか。
31 [It is] like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
それは一粒のからしの種のようなものだ。それは，地にまかれる時は地上のあらゆる種よりも小さい。
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
だがいったんまかれると，成長し，あらゆる草よりも大きくなり，大きな枝を張り，その陰で空の鳥たちが巣を作れるほどになる」 。
33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear [it].
彼は，人々の聞くことができる程度に応じて，このようなたとえを多く用いてみ言葉を語った。
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
たとえなしでは人々に語らなかった。しかし，弟子たちに対しては，ひそかにすべてのことを説明した。
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
その日，夕方になった時，彼は彼らに「向こう岸に渡ろう」 と言った。
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
彼らは，群衆を残して，舟に乗っているままで彼を連れて行った。他の小舟も彼と共にいた。
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
激しい風あらしが起こり，波が舟の中に打ちつけて，舟はもはや水でいっぱいになるほどであった。
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
彼自身は船尾にいて，まくらをして眠っていた。そこで彼らは彼を起こして告げた，「先生，わたしたちが死にかかっていても平気なのですか」。
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
彼は目を覚まし，風をしかりつけ，海に言った，「静まれ！ 静かになれ！」 風はやみ，大なぎになった。
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
彼は彼らに言った，「なぜそんなに恐れるのか。信仰がないのはどうしてか」 。
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
彼らは非常に恐れて，互いに言い合った，「風や海さえも従うとは，いったいこの方はどなただろう」。
