Malachi 2
1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment [is] for you.
Et maintenant, à vous ce commandement, ô prêtres.
2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay [it] to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay [it] to heart.
Si vous ne voulez pas écouter et si vous ne voulez pas prendre à cœur de rendre gloire à mon nom, dit le Seigneur des armées, j’enverrai sur vous l’indigence, et je maudirai vos bénédictions; et je les maudirai, parce que vous n’avez pas pris à cœur mes paroles.
3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, [even] the dung of your solemn feasts; and [one] shall take you away with it.
Voici que moi, je vous jetterai en avant l’épaule de vos victimes, et je répandrai l’ordure de vos solennités sur votre visage, et elle s’attachera à vous.
4 And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
Et vous saurez que je vous ai envoyé ce commandement, afin que mon alliance fût avec Lévi, dit le Seigneur des armées.
5 My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him [for] the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name.
Mon alliance avec lui fut une alliance de vie et de paix; et je lui ai donné de la crainte, et il m’a craint, et devant la face de mon nom il était saisi de frayeur.
6 The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity.
La loi de vérité a été dans sa bouche, et l’iniquité n’a pas été trouvée sur ses lèvres; dans la paix et dans l’équité il a marché avec moi, et il a détourné un grand nombre de l’iniquité.
7 For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he [is] the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
Car les lèvres du prêtre garderont la science, et l’on recherchera la loi de sa bouche, parce qu’il est l’ange du Seigneur des armées.
8 But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the LORD of hosts.
Mais vous vous êtes écartés de la voie, vous avez scandalisé le plus grand nombre dans la loi; vous avez rendu vaine l’alliance de Lévi, dit le Seigneur des armées.
9 Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law.
À cause de quoi, moi aussi je vous ai rendus vils et abjects à tous les peuples, en raison de ce que vous n’avez pas conservé mes voies, et que vous avez fait acception de personnes dans la loi.
10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?
Est-ce que nous n’avons pas tous un père unique? N’est-ce pas un Dieu unique qui nous a créés? pourquoi donc chacun de nous méprise-t-il son frère en violant l’alliance de nos pères?
11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
Juda a transgressé, et l’abomination s’est commise dans Israël et dans Jérusalem, parce que Juda a souillé la sanctification du Seigneur, qu’il a aimée, et qu’il a pris une fille d’un dieu étranger.
12 The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.
Le Seigneur perdra entièrement du milieu de Jacob l’homme qui aura fait cela; le maître et le disciple, même celui qui offrira un don au Dieu des armées.
13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth [it] with good will at your hand.
Et vous avez fait encore ceci: vous couvriez de larmes l’autel du Seigneur par votre pleur et vos mugissements; en sorte que je ne regarderai plus au sacrifice, et que je ne recevrai rien d’expiatoire de votre main.
14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet [is] she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.
Et vous avez dit: Pour quel motif? parce que le Seigneur a été le témoin entre toi et la femme de ta jeunesse que tu as méprisée, et c’est elle qui est ta compagne et la femme de ton alliance.
15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.
N’est-ce pas un seul qui l’a faite, et n’est-ce pas un reste de son esprit? Et cet un que veut-il, et que demande ce seul, sinon une race d’enfants de Dieu? Gardez donc votre esprit, et ne méprise pas la femme de ta jeunesse.
16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for [one] covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.
Lorsque tu l’auras en aversion, renvoie-la, dit le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël; or l’iniquité couvrira son vêtement, dit le Seigneur des armées; gardez votre esprit, et ne méprisez pas vos femmes.
17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied [him?] When ye say, Every one that doeth evil [is] good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where [is] the God of judgment?
Vous avez fait souffrir le Seigneur par vos discours, et vous avez dit: En quoi l’avons-nous fait souffrir? En ce que vous dites: Quiconque fait le mal est bon aux yeux du Seigneur: tels sont ceux qui lui plaisent; certes, s’il en est ainsi, où est le Dieu de la justice?
