Luke 4
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Jésus, rempli de l'Esprit saint, revint des bords du Jourdain, et il fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
où il fut tenté par le Diable pendant quarante jours. Il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là; et, après qu'ils furent passés, il eut faim.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
Alors le Diable lui dit: Si tu es le fils de Dieu, dis à cette pierre qu'elle devienne du pain.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Jésus lui répondit: Il est écrit: «L'homme ne vivra pas seulement de pain.»
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
Le Diable, l'ayant emmené, lui fit voir en un instant tous les royaumes du monde;
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
et il lui dit: Je te donnerai toute cette puissance et la gloire de ces royaumes; car elle m'a été donnée, et je la donne à qui je veux.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Si donc tu te prosternes devant moi, toutes ces choses seront à toi.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Jésus lui répondit: Il est écrit: «Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu ne rendras de culte qu'à lui seul.»
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
Le Diable le conduisit à Jérusalem, et l'ayant placé sur le faîte du temple, il lui dit: Si tu es le Fils de Dieu, jette-toi d'ici en bas;
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
car il est écrit: «Il donnera des ordres à ses anges, pour qu'ils te gardent;
11 And in [their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
et ils te porteront dans leurs mains, de peur que ton pied ne heurte contre quelque pierre.»
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Jésus lui répondit: Il est dit: «Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu.»
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
Et le Diable, ayant achevé de le tenter de toute manière, se retira de lui jusqu'à une autre occasion.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
Jésus s'en retourna en Galilée, avec la puissance de l'Esprit, et sa renommée se répandit dans tout le pays d'alentour.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
Il enseignait dans les synagogues, et il était glorifié par tous.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé. Selon sa coutume, il entra le jour du sabbat dans la synagogue et il se leva pour lire.
17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
On lui présenta le livre du prophète Ésaïe; et, ayant ouvert le livre, il trouva l'endroit où il était écrit:
18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
«L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi; c'est pourquoi il m'a oint pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle aux pauvres.
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Il m'a envoyé pour publier la liberté aux captifs et le recouvrement de la vue aux aveugles, pour renvoyer libres ceux qui sont dans l'oppression, et pour proclamer l'année favorable du Seigneur.»
20 And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Puis il ferma le livre, le rendit au serviteur, et il s'assit; et les yeux de tous dans la synagogue étaient fixés sur lui.
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Alors il se mit à leur dire: Aujourd'hui est accomplie cette parole de l'Écriture que vous venez d'entendre.
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
Tous lui rendaient témoignage; ils admiraient les paroles pleines de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche, et ils disaient: N'est-ce pas le fils de Joseph?
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
Il leur dit: Sans doute, vous me citerez ce proverbe: Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même; tout ce que nous avons entendu dire que tu as fait à Capernaüm, fais-le également ici, dans ta patrie.
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
Et il ajouta: En vérité, je vous le dis, aucun prophète n'est bien reçu dans sa patrie.
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
Oui, en vérité, je vous le déclare, il y avait plusieurs veuves en Israël au temps d'Élie, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et six mois, et qu'il y eut une grande famine dans tout le pays.
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, [a city] of Sidon, unto a woman [that was] a widow.
Cependant, Élie ne fut envoyé chez aucune d'elles; mais il fut envoyé à Sarepta, dans le pays de Sidon, chez une femme qui était veuve.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
Il y avait aussi plusieurs lépreux en Israël, au temps d'Elisée, le prophète. Toutefois, aucun d'eux ne fut guéri; mais Naaman le fut, lui qui était Syrien.
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
Tous, dans la synagogue, furent remplis de colère, en entendant ces choses.
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
Et, s'étant levés, ils l'entraînèrent hors de la ville et le menèrent jusqu'au sommet de la montagne sur laquelle leur ville était bâtie, pour le jeter en bas.
30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,
Mais lui, passant au milieu d'eux, s'en alla.
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.
Il descendit à Capernaüm, ville de Galilée, et il y enseignait le jour du sabbat.
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Tous étaient frappés de son enseignement; car il parlait avec autorité.
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
Or, il se trouvait dans la synagogue un homme possédé de l'esprit d'un démon impur, et il s'écria à haute voix:
34 Saying, Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [thou] Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
Ah! qu'y a-t-il entre nous et toi, Jésus de Nazareth? Es-tu venu pour nous perdre? Je sais qui tu es: le Saint de Dieu!
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
Mais Jésus le reprit sévèrement et lui dit: Tais-toi, et sors de cet homme. Alors le démon, après l'avoir jeté au milieu de l'assemblée, sortit de lui, sans lui faire aucun mal.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word [is] this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
Ils furent tous dans l'étonnement, et ils disaient entre eux: Quelle est donc cette parole? Il commande avec autorité et avec puissance aux esprits impurs, et ils s'enfuient!
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
Et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région environnante.
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
Jésus, sortant de la synagogue, entra dans la maison de Simon. La belle-mère de Simon avait une fièvre violente, et on le pria de la guérir.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
S'étant penché sur elle, il commanda à la fièvre, et la fièvre la quitta. Aussitôt elle se leva et se mit à les servir.
40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
Quand le soleil fut couché, tous ceux qui avaient des malades atteints de divers maux les lui amenèrent; et il les guérit en imposant les mains à chacun d'eux.
41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking [them] suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
Les démons sortaient aussi de plusieurs, en criant: Tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu! Mais il les reprenait sévèrement, et il ne leur permettait pas de dire qu'ils savaient qu'il était le Christ.
42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
Dès que le jour parut, il sortit et alla dans un lieu écarté; et une foule de gens se mirent à sa recherche. Ils parvinrent jusqu'à lui, et ils le retenaient, ne voulant pas le laisser partir.
43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
Mais il leur dit: Il faut que j'annonce aussi aux autres villes la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu; car, c'est pour cela que j'ai été envoyé.
44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
Et il prêchait dans les synagogues de la Galilée.
