Judges 8
1 And the men of Ephraim said unto him, Why hast thou served us thus, that thou calledst us not, when thou wentest to fight with the Midianites? And they did chide with him sharply.
ಆಗ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮ್ಯರು, “ನೀನು ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆಯದೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇನು?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ತೀಕ್ಷ್ಣವಾಗಿ ವಿವಾದ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
2 And he said unto them, What have I done now in comparison of you? [Is] not the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abi-ezer?
ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನವಾಗಿ ನಾನೇನು ಮಾಡಿದೆನು? ಅಬೀಯೆಜೆರನ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿ ಫಲ ಕೂಡಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಎಫ್ರಾಯೀಮನ ಉಳಿದ ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸುವುದು ಉತ್ತಮವಲ್ಲವೇ?
3 God hath delivered into your hands the princes of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their anger was abated toward him, when he had said that.
ದೇವರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರಾದ ಓರೇಬನನ್ನೂ, ಜೇಬನನ್ನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲವೇ? ನೀವು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಎಷ್ಟು?” ಎಂದನು. ಅವನು ಈ ಮಾತು ಹೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಅವರ ಕೋಪವು ಶಾಂತವಾಯಿತು.
4 And Gideon came to Jordan, [and] passed over, he, and the three hundred men that [were] with him, faint, yet pursuing [them].
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಯೊರ್ದನಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅದನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ; ಅವನೂ, ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಮುನ್ನೂರು ಜನರೂ ದಣಿದವರಾಗಿಯೂ, ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುವವರಾಗಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದರು.
5 And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they [be] faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.
ಅವನು ಸುಕ್ಕೋತನವರಿಗೆ, “ದಯಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಕೂಡ ಇರುವ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡಿರಿ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ದಣಿದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನಾನು ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ಅರಸುಗಳಾದ ಜೆಬಹನನ್ನೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನನ್ನೂ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದನು.
6 And the princes of Succoth said, [Are] the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army?
ಆದರೆ ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿನ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನಿನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ನಾವು ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಕೊಡುವಂತೆ ಜೆಬಹ ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನರ ಕೈ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈವಶವಾಗಿದೆಯೋ?” ಎಂದರು.
7 And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
ಆಗ ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು, “ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಜೆಬಹನನ್ನೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನನ್ನೂ ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ತರುವಾಯ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾಂಸವನ್ನು ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ, ಕಾರೆಗಿಡದ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಹೊಡಿಸುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
8 And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered [him].
ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಪೆನೀಯೇಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಆ ಊರಿನವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಆ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದನು. ಅವರು ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
9 And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.
ಆಗ ಅವನು ಪೆನೀಯೇಲಿನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸಹ, “ನಾನು ಸಮಾಧಾನವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಬರುವಾಗ, ಈ ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಡುವೆನು,” ಎಂದನು.
10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna [were] in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand [men], all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.
ಜೆಬಹನೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನೂ ತಮ್ಮ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಹದಿನೈದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಕರ್ಕೋರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರು. ಇವರಷ್ಟೂ, ಖಡ್ಗ ಹಿಡಿಯತಕ್ಕ ಒಂದು ಲಕ್ಷದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನ ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋದಾಗ, ಪೂರ್ವದೇಶದ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದರು.
11 And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure.
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ನೋಬಹ, ಯೊಗ್ಬೆಹಾ ಇವುಗಳ ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಡೇರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿರುವವರ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ದಾಳಿಮಾಡಿದರು.
12 And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host.
ಜೆಬಹನೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನೂ ಓಡಿ ಹೋದದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಅವನು ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಅರಸುಗಳಾದ ಜೆಬಹನನ್ನೂ, ಚೆಲ್ಮುನ್ನನನ್ನೂ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಪಾಳೆಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಚದರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
13 And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun [was up],
ಯೋವಾಷನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಯುದ್ಧ ತೀರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೆರೆಸ್ ಎಂಬ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಂದು,
14 And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, [even] threescore and seventeen men.
ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು, ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿನ ಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ, ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ಆದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ಜನರ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಅವನು ಬರೆದನು.
15 And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, [Are] the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men [that are] weary?
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ಇಗೋ, ದಣಿದಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ನಾವು ರೊಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವ ಹಾಗೆ, ಜೆಬಹ, ಚೆಲ್ಮುನ್ನರ ಕೈ ಈಗಲೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈವಶವಾಗಿದೆಯೋ ಎಂದು ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಿಂದಿಸಿದ ಜೆಬಹನನ್ನೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
16 And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.
ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿರಿಯರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಸುಕ್ಕೋತಿನವರನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಮರುಭೂಮಿಯ ಮುಳ್ಳು ಹಾಗು ಕಾರೆಗಿಡದ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳಿಂದ ದಂಡಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಪಾಠ ಕಲಿಸಿದನು.
17 And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city.
ಪೆನೀಯೇಲಿನ ಗೋಪುರವನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿ, ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದನು.
18 Then said he unto Zebah and Zalmunna, What manner of men [were they] whom ye slew at Tabor? And they answered, As thou [art], so [were] they; each one resembled the children of a king.
ಅವನು ಜೆಬಹನಿಗೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನಿಗೂ, “ನೀವು ತಾಬೋರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದ ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಯಾವ ತರಹದವರಾಗಿದ್ದರು?” ಎಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕವರು, “ನಿನ್ನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವರು ಒಬ್ಬೊಬ್ಬರು ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಸನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಂತಿದ್ದರು,” ಎಂದರು.
19 And he said, They [were] my brethren, [even] the sons of my mother: [as] the LORD liveth, if ye had saved them alive, I would not slay you.
ಅದಕ್ಕವನು, “ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳು, ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರು. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ಜೀವದ ಆಣೆ ನೀವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬದುಕಿಸಿದ್ದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದನು.
20 And he said unto Jether his firstborn, Up, [and] slay them. But the youth drew not his sword: for he feared, because he [was] yet a youth.
ತನ್ನ ಚೊಚ್ಚಲಮಗನಾದ ಎತೆರನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕು,” ಎಂದನು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ಯುವಕನು ತನ್ನ ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಚ್ಚದೆ ಹೋದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಹುಡುಗನಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟನು.
21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man [is, so is] his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornaments that [were] on their camels’ necks.
ಆಗ ಜೆಬಹನೂ, ಚಲ್ಮುನ್ನನೂ, “ನೀನು ಎದ್ದು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೀಳು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನ ಬಲವು ಇರುವುದು,” ಎಂದರು. ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಎದ್ದು ಜೆಬಹನನ್ನೂ, ಚೆಲ್ಮುನ್ನನನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ, ಅವರ ಒಂಟೆಗಳ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಆಭರಣಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡನು.
22 Then the men of Israel said unto Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of Midian.
ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರು ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮಿದ್ಯಾನರ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ನೀನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರನೂ, ನಿನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರನ ಪುತ್ರನೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳಬೇಕು,” ಎಂದರು.
23 And Gideon said unto them, I will not rule over you, neither shall my son rule over you: the LORD shall rule over you.
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೂ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆಳುವರು.”
24 And Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they [were] Ishmaelites.)
ಮತ್ತು ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಒಂದು ಬಿನ್ನಹವನ್ನು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಹೊಡೆದ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಓಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಿರಿ,” ಎಂದನು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಮಿದ್ಯಾನರು ಇಷ್ಮಾಯೇಲರಾಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಮುರುವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
25 And they answered, We will willingly give [them]. And they spread a garment, and did cast therein every man the earrings of his prey.
ಅವರು, “ನಾವು ಇಷ್ಟಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇವೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ಒಂದು ವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹಾಸಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರವರು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಹೊಡೆದ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಓಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿದರು.
26 And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred [shekels] of gold; beside ornaments, and collars, and purple raiment that [was] on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that [were] about their camels’ necks.
ಆಭರಣಗಳೂ, ಕಂಠಮಾಲೆಗಳೂ, ಮಿದ್ಯಾನರ ಅರಸರು ಹೊದ್ದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ರಕ್ತಾಂಬರ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳೂ, ಅವರ ಒಂಟೆಗಳ ಕೊರಳೊಳಗೆ ಇದ್ದ ಸರಪಣಿಗಳೂ ಹೊರತು ಅವನು ಕೇಳಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಬಂಗಾರದ ಓಲೆಗಳ ತೂಕವು ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಕಿಲೋಗ್ರಾಂ ತೂಕವಾಗಿತ್ತು.
27 And Gideon made an ephod thereof, and put it in his city, [even] in Ophrah: and all Israel went thither a whoring after it: which thing became a snare unto Gideon, and to his house.
ಆ ಬಂಗಾರದಿಂದ ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಏಫೋದನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿ, ಅದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಊರಾದ ಒಫ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಟ್ಟನು. ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅದರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಪೂಜಿಸಿ ದೇವದ್ರೋಹಿಗಳಾದರು, ಅದು ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೂ ಉರುಲಾಯಿತು.
28 Thus was Midian subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted up their heads no more. And the country was in quietness forty years in the days of Gideon.
ಮಿದ್ಯಾನ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಎತ್ತಕೂಡದ ಹಾಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ತಗ್ಗಿಹೋದರು. ದೇಶವು ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಲವತ್ತು ವರುಷ ವಿಶ್ರಾಂತಿಯಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು.
29 And Jerubbaal the son of Joash went and dwelt in his own house.
ಯೋವಾಷನ ಮಗ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನು ಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
30 And Gideon had threescore and ten sons of his body begotten: for he had many wives.
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನಿಗೆ ಅನೇಕ ಮಂದಿ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಂದ ಜನಿಸಿದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇದ್ದರು.
31 And his concubine that [was] in Shechem, she also bare him a son, whose name he called Abimelech.
ಶೆಖೆಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅವನ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ಅವನು ಆ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age, and was buried in the sepulchre of Joash his father, in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites.
ಯೋವಾಷನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ವೃದ್ಧಾಪ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದಾಗ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಬೀಯೆಜೆರೀಯರಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಒಫ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಯೋವಾಷನ ಸಮಾಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳಿಡಲಾಯಿತು.
33 And it came to pass, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the children of Israel turned again, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made Baal-berith their god.
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನ ಮರಣದ ತರುವಾಯ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ದೇವದ್ರೋಹಿಗಳಾಗಿ ಬಾಳನ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಬಾಳ್ ಬೆರೀತನ್ನು ತಮಗೆ ದೇವರಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
34 And the children of Israel remembered not the LORD their God, who had delivered them out of the hands of all their enemies on every side:
ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಇದ್ದ ತಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟ ತಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಮರೆತುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
35 Neither shewed they kindness to the house of Jerubbaal, [namely], Gideon, according to all the goodness which he had shewed unto Israel.
ಗಿದ್ಯೋನನೆಂಬ ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಕಲ ಉಪಕಾರಗಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಮಾಡದೆ ಹೋದರು.
