< Joshua 4 >
1 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
Rĩrĩa andũ othe a rũrĩrĩ rũu maarĩkirie kũringa Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani, Jehova akĩĩra Joshua atĩrĩ,
2 Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
“Thuura andũ ikũmi na eerĩ kuuma gatagatĩ-inĩ ka andũ aya o mũhĩrĩga mũndũ ũmwe,
3 And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests’ feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
na ũmeere moe mahiga ikũmi na meerĩ kuuma gatagatĩ ka Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani handũ harĩa athĩnjĩri-Ngai maarũgamĩte, mamakuue maringe namo mũrĩmo mũkamaige harĩa mũrĩraara ũtukũ ũyũ.”
4 Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Joshua agĩĩta andũ acio ikũmi na eerĩ arĩa aathuurĩte kuuma kũrĩ andũ a Isiraeli, o mũhĩrĩga mũndũ ũmwe,
5 And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi mbere ya ithandũkũ rĩu rĩa kĩrĩkanĩro kĩa Jehova Ngai wanyu, mũthiĩ o gatagatĩ ka Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani. Mũndũ o mũndũ kũringana na mũigana wa mĩhĩrĩga ya Isiraeli, oe ihiga rĩmwe arĩigĩrĩre kĩande,
6 That this may be a sign among you, [that] when your children ask [their fathers] in time to come, saying, What [mean] ye by these stones?
rũtuĩke rũũri gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu. Mahinda marĩa magooka, rĩrĩa ciana cianyu ikaamũũria atĩrĩ, ‘Gĩtũmi kĩa mahiga maya nĩ kĩĩ?’
7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
Mũgaaciĩra atĩ gũtherera kwa maaĩ ma Jorodani nĩ gwatinithirio mbere ya ithandũkũ rĩa kĩrĩkanĩro kĩa Jehova. Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa ithandũkũ rĩu rĩaringaga Jorodani-rĩ, maaĩ ma Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani nĩmatinithirio. Mahiga maya megũtuĩka kĩririkania gĩa kũririkanagia andũ a Isiraeli ũhoro ũcio nginya tene.”
8 And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio andũ a Isiraeli magĩĩka o ta ũrĩa maathĩtwo nĩ Joshua. Makĩoya mahiga ikũmi na meerĩ kuuma gatagatĩ ka Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani, kũringana na mũigana wa mĩhĩrĩga ya andũ a Isiraeli, o ta ũrĩa Jehova eerĩte Joshua; nao magĩkuua mahiga macio nginya kambĩ yao, makĩmaiga kuo.
9 And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
Nake Joshua akĩhaanda mahiga macio ikũmi na meerĩ, akĩmaiganĩrĩra hau gatagatĩ ka Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani harĩa athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa maakuuĩte ithandũkũ rĩa kĩrĩkanĩro maarũgamĩte. Namo marĩ ho nginya ũmũthĩ.
10 For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
Nĩgũkorwo athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa maakuuĩte ithandũkũ rĩa kĩrĩkanĩro maikarire marũngiĩ hau gatagatĩ ka Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani nginya hĩndĩ ĩrĩa andũ meekire maũndũ marĩa mothe Jehova aathĩte Joshua, na magĩĩkwo o ta ũrĩa Musa aathĩte Joshua mekwo. Nao andũ magĩkĩhiũha, makĩringa mũrĩmo,
11 And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
na andũ othe maarĩkia kũringa o ũguo, ithandũkũ rĩa Jehova o narĩo na athĩnjĩri-Ngai makĩringa makĩonagwo nĩ andũ othe.
12 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
Andũ a mũhĩrĩga wa Rubeni, na wa Gadi, na nuthu ya Manase makĩringa mũrĩmo, meeohete indo cia mbaara, marĩ mbere ya andũ a Isiraeli, o ta ũrĩa Musa aamaathĩte.
13 About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
Andũ ta 40,000 methagathagĩte na meeohete indo cia mbaara makĩringa mũrĩmo ũcio, marĩ mbere ya Jehova, magĩkinya werũ-inĩ wa Jeriko.
14 On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
Mũthenya ũcio, Jehova agĩtũũgĩria Joshua maitho-inĩ ma andũ a Isiraeli othe; nao makĩmwĩtigĩra matukũ mothe marĩa aatũũrire muoyo, o ta ũrĩa meetigĩrĩte Musa.
15 And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
Ningĩ Jehova akĩĩra Joshua atĩrĩ,
16 Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
“Atha athĩnjĩri-Ngai arĩa makuuĩte ithandũkũ rĩa Ũira mambate moimĩre Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani.”
17 Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Joshua agĩatha athĩnjĩri-Ngai acio, akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Ambatai mumĩre Jorodani.”
18 And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, [and] the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as [they did] before.
Nao athĩnjĩri-Ngai makĩambata, makiuma rũũĩ makuuĩte ithandũkũ rĩa kĩrĩkanĩro kĩa Jehova. Maarĩkia gũkinyithia magũrũ mao thĩ nyũmũ o ũguo-rĩ, maaĩ ma Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani magĩcookana handũ hamo, ningĩ makĩiyũra hũgũrũrũ ciaruo o ta mbere.
19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth [day] of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
Na rĩrĩ, mũthenya wa ikũmi wa mweri wa mbere, andũ acio makĩambata, makiuma Jorodani na makĩamba kambĩ mwena wa irathĩro wa Jeriko, o kũu Giligali.
20 And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
Nake Joshua akĩiga mahiga marĩa ikũmi na meerĩ maarutĩtwo Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani kũu Giligali.
21 And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What [mean] these stones?
Akĩĩra andũ a Isiraeli atĩrĩ, “Mahinda marĩa magooka, rĩrĩa njiaro cianyu ikooria maithe ma cio atĩrĩ, ‘Ĩ gĩtũmi kĩa mahiga maya nĩ kĩĩ?’
22 Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩmũkamenyithia ciana cianyu ũhoro, mũmeere atĩrĩ, ‘Andũ a Isiraeli maaringire Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani rũhũĩte rũgatuĩka thĩ nyũmũ.’
23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
Nĩgũkorwo Jehova Ngai wanyu nĩahũithirie maaĩ ma Jorodani mbere yanyu nginya rĩrĩa mwarikire kũringa. Jehova Ngai wanyu eekire Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani o ta ũrĩa eekire Iria Itune rĩrĩa aarĩhũithirie mbere iitũ nginya rĩrĩa twarĩkirie kũringa.
24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it [is] mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.
Eekire ũguo nĩgeetha andũ othe a thĩ mamenye atĩ guoko kwa Jehova kũrĩ hinya mũno, na nĩgeetha mũtũũre mwĩtigĩrĩte Jehova Ngai wanyu nginya tene.”
