< Jonah 4 >
1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.
Ma ihe a jọrọ Jona njọ nʼobi nke ukwuu, iwe ya dịkwa ọkụ.
2 And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, [was] not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou [art] a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.
Nʼihi ya, o kpeere Onyenwe anyị ekpere sị, “O, Onyenwe anyị, nke a ọ bụghị ihe m kwuru, mgbe m nọ nʼala m? Ọ bụ ya mere m ji chọọ ịgbalaga na Tashish na mbụ nʼihi na amaara m na ị bụ Chineke onye na-eme amara, na onye jupụtara nʼobi ebere, na onye na-adịghị ewe iwe ọsịịsọ, nke bara ụba nʼịhụnanya, onye na-anaghị ata mmadụ ahụhụ dịka mmehie ya siri dị.
3 Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for [it is] better for me to die than to live.
Ugbu a, O, Onyenwe anyị napụ m ndụ m. Ọ ga-adị m mma ịnwụ anwụ karịa ịdị ndụ.”
4 Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?
Ma Onyenwe anyị sịrị, “O ziri ezi na ị ga-esi otu a wee oke iwe dị ọkụ?”
5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shadow, till he might see what would become of the city.
Mgbe ahụ, Jona si nʼebe ahụ pụọ jee nọdụ ala nʼakụkụ ọwụwa anyanwụ nke obodo ahụ. O weere ahịhịa meere onwe ya ụlọ ndo, nọdụ nʼime ya, chere ka ọ hụ ihe gaje ime obodo ahụ.
6 And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made [it] to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.
Ma Onyenwe anyị Chineke rọpụtara otu osisi nwere akwụkwọ sara mbara, nke tolitere nʼelu isi Jona, ka o ghọọrọ ya ndo ịnapụta ya nʼọnọdụ ahụ mgbakasị. Jona ṅụrịrị ọṅụ maka osisi ahụ.
7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it smote the gourd that it withered.
Ma nʼisi ụtụtụ echi ya, Chineke mere ka otu ikpuru pụta nke riri osisi ahụ site nʼogwe ya, si otu a mee ka ọ kpọnwụọ.
8 And it came to pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, [It is] better for me to die than to live.
O ruo, mgbe anyanwụ wara, Chineke mere ka ifufe na-ekpo ọkụ site nʼọwụwa anyanwụ, anyanwụ a chara Jona nʼisi nke ukwuu nke mere nʼike gwụsịrị ya. Ọ rịọrọ ka ọnwụ gbuo ya, na-asị, “ọ ga a kaara m mma na m nwụrụ anwụ, karịa na m dị ndụ.”
9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, [even] unto death.
Ma Chineke sịrị Jona, “Ọ bụ ihe ziri ezi ka i wee iwe maka osisi a?” Ọ sịrị, “E, ana m ewe oke iwe, ọ bụladị na m chọrọ ịnwụ.”
10 Then said the LORD, Thou hast had pity on the gourd, for the which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night:
Mgbe ahụ Onyenwe anyị kwuru, “I nwere obi ebere nʼebe osisi a dị, nke ị na-akụghị na nke i mekwaghị ka o too, bụ nke toro nʼanyasị, nwụọkwa nʼanyasị.
11 And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city, wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand; and [also] much cattle?
