John 9
1 And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man which was blind from [his] birth.
耶穌前行時，看見了一個生來瞎眼的人。
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
他的門徒就問他說：「辣彼，誰犯了罪？是他，還是他的父母，竟使他生來瞎眼呢？」
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
耶穌答覆說：「也不是他犯了罪，也不是他的父母，而是為天主的工作，在他身上顯揚出來。
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
趁著白天，我們應該做派遣我來者的工作；黑夜來到，就沒有人能工作了。
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
當我在世界上的時候，我是世界的光。」
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
耶鮓說了這話以後，便吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和了些泥，把泥抹在瞎子的眼上，
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
對他說：「去，到史羅亞水池裏洗洗罷! 」──史羅亞解說「被派遣的」──瞎子去了，洗了，回來就看見了。
8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
於是，鄰居和那些素來曾見他討飯的人，就說：「這不是那曾坐著討飯的人麼？」
9 Some said, This is he: others [said], He is like him: [but] he said, I am [he].
有的說: 「就是這人。」有的說: 「不，是另一個很相似他的人。」那人卻說: 「就是我。」
10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
他們問他說：「你的眼睛究竟是怎樣的呢？」
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
他答覆說: 「名叫耶穌的那個人，和了些泥，抹在我的眼上，給我說: 你往史羅亞去洗洗罷；我去了，洗了，就看見了。」
12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
他們又問他說: 「那個人在那裏？」他說: 「我不知道。」
13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
他們便將先前瞎眼的人，領到法利賽人那裏。
14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
耶穌和泥開他眼瞎的那天，正是安息日。
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
於是法利賽人又問他怎樣看見了。那人就向他們說: 「他把泥放在我的眼上，我洗了，就看見了。」
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
法利賽人中有的說: 「這人不是從天主來的，因為他不遵守安息日。」有的卻說：「一個罪人怎能行這樣的奇跡？」他們中間便發生了紛爭。
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
於是他們又問瞎子說: 「對於那開了你眼睛的人，你說什麼呢？」瞎子說: 「他是一位先知。」
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
可是猶太人不肯相信他是瞎子而後看見了，等叫了復明的父母來問，
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
問他們說：「這是你們的兒子麼？你們說他生來就瞎麼？怎麼他現在竟看見了呢？」
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
他的父母答覆說: 「我們知道這是我們的兒子，也生來就瞎。
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
如今他究竟怎麼看見了，我們卻不知道；或者誰開了他的眼睛，我們也不知道。你們問他罷! 他已經成年，會說自己的事了。」
22 These [words] spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
他的父母因為害怕猶太人，才這樣說，因為猶太人早已議定：誰若承諾耶穌是默西亞，就必被逐出會堂。
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
為此，他的父母說: 他己經成年，你們問他罷!
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
於是法利賽人再把那先前瞎眼的人叫過來，向他說: 「歸光榮於天主罷! 我們知道這人是個罪人。」
25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner [or no], I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
那人回答說: 「他是不是罪人，我不知道；有一件事我知道: 我曾是個瞎子，現在我卻看見了。」
26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
他們又問他說: 「他給你作了什麼？怎樣開了你的眼睛？」
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear [it] again? will ye also be his disciples?
他回答說: 「我已經告訴了你們，你們不聽；為什麼又願意聽呢？莫非你們也願意做他的門徒麼？」
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.
他們辱罵他說: 「你去做他的門徒好了! 我們是梅瑟的門徒。
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: [as for] this [fellow], we know not from whence he is.
我們知道: 天主曾給瑟說過話；至於這人，我們不知道他是從那裏來的。」
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and [yet] he hath opened mine eyes.
那人回答說: 「這真奇怪! 你們不佑他是從那裏來的，他卻開了我的眼睛。
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
我們都曉得天主不俯聽罪人，只俯聽那恭敬天主，並承行他旨意的人。
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind. (aiōn g165)
自古以來從未聽說: 有人開了生來就是瞎子的眼睛。 (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
這人若不是由天主來的，他什麼也不能做。」
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
他們卻向他說: 「你整個生於罪惡中，竟來教訓我們？」便把他趕了出去了。
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
耶穌聽說他們把他趕出去了，後來遇見了他，就給他說: 「你信人子麼？」
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
那人便回答說: 「主，是誰，好使我去信他呢？」
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
耶穌對他說: 「你已看見他了，和你講話的就是! 」
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
他遂說道: 「主，我信。」遂俯伏朝拜了耶穌。
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
耶穌遂說：「我是為了判別，才到這世界上來，叫那些看不見的，看得見；叫那些看得見的，反而成為瞎子。」
40 And [some] of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
有些和他在一起的法利賽人，一聽了這話就說: 「難道我們也是瞎子麼？」
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
耶穌回答說: 「你們如果是瞎子，就沒有罪了；但你們如今說：我們看得見，你們的罪惡便存留下來了。」
