John 19
1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged [him].
Así que entonces tomó Pilato a Jesús, y le azotó.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put [it] on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
Y los soldados entretejieron de espinas una corona, y la pusieron sobre su cabeza, y le vistieron de una ropa de grana,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
Y decían: Dios te guarde, Rey de los Judíos; y le daban de bofetadas.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
Entonces Pilato salió otra vez fuera, y les dijo: He aquí, os le traigo fuera, para que entendáis que ningún crímen hallo en él.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And [Pilate] saith unto them, Behold the man!
Entonces salió Jesús fuera llevando la corona de espinas, y la ropa de grana. Y díceles Pilato: ¡He aquí el hombre!
6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify [him], crucify [him]. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify [him]: for I find no fault in him.
Y como le vieron los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los ministros, dieron voces, diciendo: Crucifíca le, crucifíca le. Díceles Pilato: Tomádle vosotros, y crucificád le; porque yo no hallo en él crímen.
7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
Respondiéronle los Judíos: Nosotros tenemos una ley, y según nuestra ley debe morir, porque se hizo el Hijo de Dios.
8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
Pilato pues como oyó esta palabra, tuvo más miedo.
9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
Y entró otra vez en el pretorio, y dijo a Jesús: ¿De dónde eres tú? Mas Jesús no le dio respuesta.
10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
Entonces dícele Pilato: ¿A mí no me hablas? ¿no sabes que tengo potestad para crucificarte, y que tengo potestad para soltarte?
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [at all] against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
Respondió Jesús: Ninguna potestad tendrías contra mí, si no te fuese dada de arriba; por tanto el que a ti me ha entregado, mayor pecado tiene.
12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Cæsar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Cæsar.
Desde entonces procuraba Pilato de soltarle; mas los Judíos daban voces, diciendo: Si a éste sueltas, no eres amigo de César: cualquiera que se hace rey, habla contra César.
13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
Entonces Pilato oyendo este dicho, llevó fuera a Jesús, y se sentó en el tribunal, en el lugar que se llama el Pavimento, y en el Hebreo Gabbatha.
14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
Y era la preparación de la pascua, y como la hora de sexta: entonces dijo a los Judíos: ¡He aquí vuestro Rey!
15 But they cried out, Away with [him], away with [him], crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cæsar.
Mas ellos dieron voces: Quíta le, quíta le, crucifícale. Díceles Pilato: ¿A vuestro Rey tengo de crucificar? Respondieron los sumos sacerdotes: No tenemos rey, sino a César.
16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led [him] away.
Entonces pues se le entregó para que fuese crucificado. Y tomaron a Jesús, y le llevaron.
17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called [the place] of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
Y él llevando su cruz, salió al lugar que se llama el lugar de la Calavera, y en Hebreo Gólgota:
18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
Donde le crucificaron, y con él otros dos, de una parte y de otra, y Jesús en medio.
19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put [it] on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Y escribió Pilato un título, el cual puso encima de la cruz; y el escrito era: JESUS NAZARENO, REY DE LOS JUDÍOS.
20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, [and] Greek, [and] Latin.
Y muchos de los Judíos leyeron este título; porque el lugar donde fue crucificado Jesús, estaba cerca de la ciudad; y era escrito en Hebreo, y en Griego, y en Latín.
21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
Y decían a Pilato los sumos sacerdotes de los Judíos: No escribas: Rey de los Judíos; sino que él dijo: Rey soy de los Judíos.
22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
Respondió Pilato: Lo que he escrito, he escrito.
23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also [his] coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
Y como los soldados hubieron crucificado a Jesús, tomaron sus vestidos, e hicieron cuatro partes (a cada soldado una parte, ) y también la túnica, mas la túnica era sin costura, toda tejida desde arriba.
24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
Dijeron pues entre sí: No la partamos, sino echemos suertes sobre ella cuya será; para que se cumpliese la Escritura que dice: Partieron para sí mis vestidos, y sobre mi vestidura echaron suertes. Estas cosas pues los soldados hicieron.
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the [wife] of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
Y estaban junto a la cruz de Jesús su madre, y la hermana de su madre, María mujer de Cléofas, y María Magdalena.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
Y como vio Jesús a su madre, y al discípulo que él amaba, que estaba presente, dice a su madre: Mujer, he ahí tu hijo.
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own [home.]
Y luego dice al discípulo: He ahí tu madre. Y desde aquella hora el discípulo la recibió en su propia casa.
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
Después de esto, sabiendo Jesús que todas las cosas estaban ya cumplidas, para que la Escritura se cumpliese, dijo: Tengo sed.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put [it] upon hyssop, and put [it] to his mouth.
Y había allí puesta una vasija llena de vinagre. Entonces ellos hinchieron una esponja de vinagre, y puesta sobre un hisopo se la llegaron a la boca.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Y como Jesús tomó el vinagre, dijo: Consumado está. Y abajando la cabeza, dio el espíritu.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day, ) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and [that] they might be taken away.
Entonces los Judíos, por cuanto era el día de la preparación, para que los cuerpos no quedasen en la cruz en el sábado, porque era gran día aquel sábado, rogaron a Pilato que se les quebrasen las piernas, y que fuesen quitados.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
Vinieron pues los soldados, y a la verdad quebraron las piernas al primero, y al otro que había sido crucificado con él:
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
Mas cuando vinieron a Jesús, como le vieron ya muerto, no le quebraron las piernas.
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Empero uno de los soldados le abrió el costado con una lanza, y luego salió sangre y agua.
35 And he that saw [it] bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
Y el que lo vio da testimonio, y su testimonio es verdadero; y él sabe que dice verdad, para que vosotros también creáis.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
Porque estas cosas fueron hechas, para que se cumpliese la Escritura: Hueso no será quebrantado de él.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Y también otra Escritura dice: Mirarán a aquel al cual traspasaron.
38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave [him] leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
Pasadas estas cosas, rogó a Pilato José de Arimatea, el cual era discípulo de Jesús, mas secreto, por miedo de los Judíos, que él quítase el cuerpo de Jesús: lo cual permitió Pilato. Entonces él vino, y quitó el cuerpo de Jesús.
39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound [weight].
Y vino también Nicodemo, el que antes había venido a Jesús de noche, trayendo una mistura de mirra y de áloes, como cien libras.
40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
Y tomaron el cuerpo de Jesús, y le envolvieron en lienzos con especias, como es costumbre de los Judíos sepultar.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
Y en aquel lugar, donde había sido crucificado, había un huerto, y en el huerto un sepulcro nuevo, en el cual aun no había sido puesto alguno.
42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation [day]; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
Allí pues pusieron a Jesús, por causa del día de la preparación de los Judíos, porque aquel sepulcro estaba cerca.
