John 16
1 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
我これらの事を語りたるは、汝らの躓かざらん爲なり。
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
人なんぢらを除名すべし、然のみならず、汝らを殺す者みな自ら神に事ふと思ふとき來らん。
3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
これらの事をなすは、父と我とを知らぬ故なり。
4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
我これらの事を語りたるは、時いたりて我が斯く言ひしことを汝らの思ひいでん爲なり。初より此 等のことを言はざりしは、我なんぢらと偕に在りし故なり。
5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
今われを遣し給ひし者にゆく、然るに汝らの中、たれも我に「何處にゆく」と問ふ者なし。
6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
唯これらの事を語りしによりて、憂なんぢらの心にみてり。
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
されど、われ實を汝らに告ぐ、わが去るは汝らの益なり。我さらずば助主なんぢらに來らじ、我ゆかば之を汝らに遣さん。
8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
かれ來らんとき、世をして罪につき、義につき、審判につきて、過てるを認めしめん。
9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
罪に就きてとは、彼ら我を信ぜぬに因りてなり。
10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
義に就きてとは、われ父にゆき、汝ら今より我を見ぬに因りてなり。
11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
審判に就きてとは、此の世の君さばかるるに因りてなり。
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
我なほ汝らに告ぐべき事あまたあれど、今なんぢら得 耐へず。
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
されど彼すなはち眞理の御靈きたらん時、なんぢらを導きて眞理をことごとく悟らしめん。かれ己より語るにあらず、凡そ聞くところの事を語り、かつ來らんとする事どもを汝らに示さん。
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.
彼はわが榮光を顯さん、それは我がものを受けて汝らに示すべければなり。
15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you.
すべて父の有ち給ふものは我がものなり、此の故に我がものを受けて汝らに示さんと云へるなり。
16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
暫くせば汝ら我を見ず、また暫くして我を見るべし』
17 Then said [some] of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
ここに弟子たちのうち或 者たがひに言ふ『「暫くせば我を見ず、また暫くして我を見るべし」と言ひ、かつ「父に往くによりて」と言ひ給へるは、如何なることぞ』
18 They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
復いふ『この暫くとは如何なることぞ、我等その言ひ給ふところを知らず』
19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
イエスその問はんと思へるを知りて言ひ給ふ『なんぢら「暫くせば我を見ず、また暫くして我を見るべし」と我が言ひしを尋ねあふか。
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
誠にまことに汝らに告ぐ、なんぢらは泣き悲しみ、世は喜ばん。汝ら憂ふべし、然れどその憂は喜悦とならん。
21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
をんな産まんとする時は憂あり、その期いたるに因りてなり。子を産みてのちは苦痛をおぼえず、世に人の生れたる喜悦によりてなり。
22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
斯く汝らも今は憂あり、されど我ふたたび汝らを見ん、その時なんぢらの心よろこぶべし、その喜悦を奪ふ者なし。
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give [it] you.
かの日には汝ら何事をも我に問ふまじ。誠にまことに汝らに告ぐ、汝 等のすべて父に求むる物をば、我が名によりて賜ふべし。
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
なんぢら今までは何をも我が名によりて求めたることなし。求めよ、然らば受けん、而して汝らの喜悦みたさるべし。
25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
我これらの事を譬にて語りたりしが、また譬にて語らず、明白に父のことを汝らに告ぐるとき來らん。
26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
その日には汝 等わが名によりて求めん。我は汝らの爲に父に請ふと言はず、
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
父みづから汝らを愛し給へばなり。これ汝 等われを愛し、また我の父より出で來りしことを信じたるに因る。
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
われ父より出でて世にきたれり、また世を離れて父に往くなり』
29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
弟子たち言ふ『視よ、今は明白に語りて聊かも譬をいひ給はず。
30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
我ら今なんぢの知り給はぬ所なく、また人の汝に問ふを待ち給はぬことを知る。之によりて汝の神より出できたり給ひしことを信ず』
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
イエス答へ給ふ『なんぢら今、信ずるか。
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
視よ、なんぢら散されて各自おのが處にゆき、我をひとり遺すとき到らん、否すでに到れり。然れど我ひとり居るにあらず、父われと偕に在すなり。
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
此 等のことを汝らに語りたるは、汝ら我に在りて平安を得んが爲なり。なんぢら世にありては患難あり、されど雄々しかれ。我すでに世に勝てり』
